My husband and I stayed in the courtyard for our honeymoon back in Dec 2013 whilst in Marlborough. Jo was an excellent host, the breakfasts were delicious - fresh croissants, fruit and cereals every morning! The room was stunning - a luxury, just as we'd dreamed for such a special trip. The bikes were so useful, and our wonderful hosts...

We spent three nights at Hillsfield House and gladly join the ranks of hundreds of positive reviewers. My daughter and I booked both available rooms, the Courtyard and the Loft. Both were extremely comfortably, impeccably clean and furnished, and spacious enough to provide separate seating areas. Complementary wifi and bicycles (normally $45/day per person) are valuable extras. Breakfasts offer plenty...

Hillsfield House was one of the highlights of our trip. Anyone visiting Marlborough region should definitely stay at this lovely property with extremely wonderful hosts Jo & Steve and of course Twiggy –The Alpaca who was super cute and friendly. We stayed two nights in February at this delightful B&B in the heart of the Marlborough wine district. We had an attractive room on the ground floor of a purpose-built “inn” near the owners’ home (there are two units, one up and one down). The room was attractively furnished and comfortable, and provided everything we needed for a short stay...

To start off, this is my husband and I's first time staying at a B&B, and boy was it extraordinary. I know we don't have anything to compare it to, but the next one has some extremely high standards to follow. First of all, Jo and Steve are just beautiful people. Jo is a ball of joy to be around...

Hillsfield House is definitely playing in the top end of the premier league of New Zealand B&B's. Steve and Jo are wonderful hosts who take the job of looking after you very, very seriously. The accommodation is excellent and the bed is super comfortable, the fluffy white towels are there in abundance and the location, smack in the middle of...

We stayed four nights with Jo and Steve in February and made Hillsfield House our base for exploring the Marlborough region. I would recommend this as the location in a peaceful country setting is also accessible to all the wineries, Marlborough Sounds and other great sites to see in the Marlborough region. From when we first booked, Jo was so...

Our hosts provided us with everything we need from bikes to visit the wineries, a lift to a local restaurant and a fabulous breakfast delivered to our room. The room was spacious and elegantly furnished, with a comfortable bed. Our hosts are conscious of detail down to a vase of fresh flowers on the breakfast tray. The room is private...

We stayed 3 nights in this gorgeous B&B and didn't want to leave! From the moment we arrived, Jo & Steve greeted us with warmth and love-as though we were family. Beautiful breakfasts, yummy afternoon tea and the complimentary use of the bikes for use around the wineries was amazing. All this made it really good value for money too. It...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Courtyard Cottage is a peaceful, rural, self-contained hideaway, aptly named as it is found nestled in a pavilion, separate to that of your hosts, with a private entrance all of its own so you can make yourselves at home and come and go as you please. Tastefully and elegantly furnished, The Courtyard Cottage boasts a cosy lounge and dining area on the ground floor, along with a country-styled kitchenette, overlooking a sheltered garden filled with roses and lavender. Upstairs, a romantic master bedroom awaits you with a four poster bed, quality brocade bed linen and its own bathroom, stocked with beautiful hand-made soaps and bath toiletries, by Jeymar Soap & Body. Allow yourselves to indulge and be pampered, and awaken each morning to a continental breakfast served in your room at a time of your choosing, to suit your relaxation or travel plans. Alternatively, if preferred, we can bring you a basket of breakfast goodies the night before, to be enjoyed in the morning, at your leisure. During your stay, if the idea of gently cruising around Renwick's gorgeous boutique cellar doors takes your fancy, where you can take your time to delight in seasonal fare and some of the tastiest wine you could ever hope to try, we would love to make it happen for you. Here, you will find yourselves right in the heart of Marlborough's wine region and so our package also includes a complimentary bike tour with Wine Tours by Bike where you will have over a dozen or more cellar doors and restaurants to choose from, all within easy cycling distance away, via flat roads and bike paths and we promise you don't need to be super fit or confident on a bike to reach them. ... more   less
