This has to be one of the friendliest places I have ever stayed at. Everyone employed here was helpful and friendly. Enjoyed the lobby very much. Room needed a little work but it was clean and comfortable. Anything you needed all you had to do was ask. No television, no cell service, no phones. A great place to unwind.

Great place to stay when visiting the caves. No internet, TV, or phones in the room, which is kind of nice. The people at the front desk are nice but slow, probably due to slow internet connectivity and limited computers. Beer and wine available for sale in the large, living room like lobby in the evenings. Coffee and hot chocolate...

we stayed for two nights in late may and loved it. however...the radiator heating our room wasn't very effective. it came on sometime early, maybe around 7-ish or so. then went off about 90 minutes later. in the evening, when it got cold, it didn't come back on. we asked at the front desk and the gal said she would...

We stayed at the Chateau as part of our national parks tour and did not realize that the Chateau is AT the Oregon Caves National park! Was a beautiful historic hotel with lovely hiking trails on the grounds. The hotel has a lot of charm and a wonderful diner in the lower level for breakfast and lunch and nice formal...

We had visited Oregon Caves NM several years ago. At that point we were traveling in a motorhome and didn’t have use for the lodge. This year we returned and made a plan to spend 4 days at the Chateau. I love the historic lodges in the western national parks and this was my chance to stay in one. Love...

Love love love this place! The lobster roll is unbelievable! Always bring out of state company because it's a must stop for them. My neighbor and I try to visit at least twice a month. Never been disappointed. Two thumbs and two big toes up!

Our recent stay for one night was a restful, extremely pleasant, and enjoyable experience. All staff and national park employees were wonderfully pleasant and helpful, ready to engage in friendly conversation. The facilities are showing age, but are scheduled for reparations. The setting is beautiful, and well cared for. We will return next season with more friends for another wonderful...

This destination may not be for everyone but it was just what my husband and I needed for a two night experience away from the demands of our hectic life. I appreciated the rustically beautiful setting and the fact that there is no cell phone coverage or wi fi connections here. We truly were able to get away from it...

The Chateau is very rustic 1930 style. No TV, cell service or internet. But a nice big fireplace and comfortable lobby to have a glass of wine. Dinner was very good as was breakfast in the very cute diner. Plenty of food at good prices. Room was a deluxe queen. But don't let that fool you. The room is also...

Great hotel in unique location. Very comfortable lounge area and great breakfast restaurant. Dinner was also excellent. Good luck with the refit. I hope hotel retains as much of the character as possible.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
1 Hour drive from Grants Pass Oregon. The Chateau is a six-story structure with a reinforced concrete foundation and a superstructure of wood frame construction with enormous post and beam interior supports. The building spans a small gorge and a great deal of the building's mass is banked into that depression. The first floor houses mechanical equipment. The second contains basement storage areas. The dining room, coffee shop and kitchen areas are on the third floor--at the same level as the lower trout pool grotto at the immediate head of the gorge. The fourth floor is at road level and contains the entrance lobby and some hotel rooms. The two upper stories have additional hotel rooms. Exterior walls are shiplap siding sheathed with cedar bark, giving the building a shaggy, rustic appearance.(Sorry no pets allowed at this time) ... more   less
