Our stay at the Daniels house was the highlight of our week-long April trip to Massachusetts! My adult son and daughter and I booked the Rose room and it's adjoining twin bedroom--perfect! Lovely fire in my room and sweet Sabrina (the kitty hostess) to keep us company! It is a one of a kind experience to stay in this lovely... More

We had a wonderful time- five women all gathered together to celebrate my 50th birthday. The Stephen Daniels house is old world at its best. We stayed in the Rose room and the adjoining room - very comfortable and more than enough space for everyone. To be honest, I was concerned about that but was determined to just make the... More

We stayed from Friday, September 30-Sunday, October 2 and our stay couldn't have been better. We stayed in the great room and slept very cozy in our canopy bed in front of the fireplace. The house is very old and decorated in eclectic antiques that Kay ( the owner) has collected throughout the years and it adds to the creepy/... More

This is a very old house with a lot of antiques. It has great history and the people are lovely. The house needs some TLC and could use a good cleaning. Slept fine but a little loud with cars on the street

This house was by far, my favorite part of my trip to Salem. It was creepy and cozy, weird and warm. I slept like I haven't in years in the four poster bed with the clean, well worn sheets and the funky comforters. There were antiques and unusual things everywhere, and I would be hard pressed to find more than... More

My friend and I took a last minute trip to Salem and were so happy to have found This B&B. Full of Charm, Character and authentic Salem ambiance, The Stephan Daniels house provided everything we were looking for. Kay, the amazing owner, answered when I called to make the reservation. My friend and I visited Salem in August of 2014 and had the pleasure of staying at the Stephen Daniels House. I couldn't imagine a better place to stay and consider it the quintessential bed and breakfast in Salem. You truly feel as if you have stepped back in time. Cool historic home, if you want to experience the true "spirit" of Salem this is the place. It's like stepping back in time. Not for those who want modern super clean scene. This house is 300 years old, looks it, feels it. Every corner is filled with antiques. Not for everyone! My son was a bit spooked! I truly enjoyed... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The home was converted to a restaurant and inn in 1945 by the Hallers. Current owner Catherine Gill, affectionately known as Kay, purchased the inn in 1962 and has proudly served as innkeeper and caretaker during 49 years . Making us Salem's oldest running Bed&Breakfast! Upon entering the home one is immediately enthralled by the sheer number of antiques and collectibles that cover most every conceivable nook and cranny. Antique pottery next to historic English puppets, laced with cross-stitch art works, majestic portraits, antique toys and so much more. A life time of Kay's world travels and collecting. It is an eclectic feast for the senses. The home itself is a living museum where guests can take a step back in time as they touch and see, feel and explore and get a true sense of the history and romance that abounds throughout the entire home. Our goal is focused on providing you with an enjoyable and memorable experience and not merely a comfortable place to relax and rest your head. We may not be Salem's most modern inn but we are the most unique! Our suites are furnished with period four poster canopy beds and decorated with genuine antiques. There are no velvet ropes here! If history and ambiance is what you seek than the Daniels House is the place to stay. Come and meet your hosts Kay Gill and Robin McDonald. Enjoy our complimentary continental breakfast of fresh baked muffins, juice, cereals, coffee, teas and pleasant conversation. Child and pet friendly. Thank you for visiting and hope to meet you at the Inn.Owner and operator for over 49 years Kay. ... more   less
