Just spent a horribly scary night at this house. We couldn't pack up fast enough the next morning. We both had unwanted visitations that freaked us out - we were staying in different rooms. You may think it is cool to have a ghostly experience but when it happens, not so. DETAILS NEEDED TO KNOW IF YOU WANT TO STAY;...

We have been to Salem on two prior occasions. This time we traveled with friends who had never been to Salem. We decided to stay in a home that is a true representation of Salem and its history. The house is extremely interesting with all its' nooks and crannies. The owner Kay, has filled her home with an amazing amount...

My first trip to Salem wouldn't have been the same without having stayed at the Stephen Daniels House. Not only is the house a historic gem, but it is within a very short walking distance from the Wharf and all other sites that are likely on your list. I stayed in the Acorn Room, which was on the third floor....

We arrived well after our intended hour yet Kay was still up waiting for us. As it turned out, we were the only guests that week. While I feel sorry for the other guests who were meant to be there but who fell ill, I cannot say that I didn't enjoy having the run of the house (along with my...

I've stayed there last Halloween weekend, house is nice, furnitured with a lot of antique, but the service is awful. This is considered to be a B&B and they DO NOT OFFER A BREAKFAST. They have a pastries and coffee. That's it. Furthermore, I've gave them my credit card over the phone to hold a reservation and she charged me...

Since I was a kid, I loved learning about Salem's history. I decided that when I became an adult, I would take a trip there. I'm a history/archeology nerd, the east coast is filled with historical sites. This summer I decided to treat myself & book a solo trip to Massachusetts.it was nothing short of an amazing experience. I was...

First of all, you have to understand the house is a historical legend. It's actually OLDER than the House of the Seven Gables around the corner, which is a place where they won't even let you touch the walls because it's so old. But here, you can sleep and hang out and do whatever. This place is AMAZING. So it...

We had a wonderful visit to Salem and in particular, the Stephen Daniels House! As a history buff, I found this antique filled home dating from 1667 absolutely fascinating! Robin was a very helpful and welcoming host. I especially enjoyed her post breakfast full house tour. What a treat!! We'll definitely be back!

My husband and I had a terrific stay at the Stephen Daniels House. The house is a historic treasure and the innkeeper Robin is amazing. She graciously accommodated our need for an earlier breakfast time without us even asking! Quiet location, yet only steps away from the local music scene. I highly recommend this charming inn.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The home was converted to a restaurant and inn in 1945 by the Hallers. Current owner Catherine Gill, affectionately known as Kay, purchased the inn in 1962 and has proudly served as innkeeper and caretaker during 49 years . Making us Salem's oldest running Bed&Breakfast! Upon entering the home one is immediately enthralled by the sheer number of antiques and collectibles that cover most every conceivable nook and cranny. Antique pottery next to historic English puppets, laced with cross-stitch art works, majestic portraits, antique toys and so much more. A life time of Kay's world travels and collecting. It is an eclectic feast for the senses. The home itself is a living museum where guests can take a step back in time as they touch and see, feel and explore and get a true sense of the history and romance that abounds throughout the entire home. Our goal is focused on providing you with an enjoyable and memorable experience and not merely a comfortable place to relax and rest your head. We may not be Salem's most modern inn but we are the most unique! Our suites are furnished with period four poster canopy beds and decorated with genuine antiques. There are no velvet ropes here! If history and ambiance is what you seek than the Daniels House is the place to stay. Come and meet your hosts Kay Gill and Robin McDonald. Enjoy our complimentary continental breakfast of fresh baked muffins, juice, cereals, coffee, teas and pleasant conversation. Child and pet friendly. Thank you for visiting and hope to meet you at the Inn.Owner and operator for over 49 years Kay. ... more   less
