About

#2 of 4 hotels in Salem
Travellers' Choice
Rising six stories, the Salem Waterfront Hotel & Suites on Pickering Wharf Marina blends a contemporary outlook with an appreciation for the area's proud past. It is Salem's newest boutique hotel with a warm nautical décor. The 86 rooms and suites have handsome wood furnishings, fabrics in soothing shades and windows that let in lots of light. Look for flat-panel TVs with cable channels, pillowtop beds and high-end Keurig coffeemakers. There are complimentary wired and wireless internet connections available throughout the property, and loaner iPads are available in the lobby. Local calls are free, as are morning newspapers in lobby. It is the only hotel downtown Salem with a heated indoor pool, and the fitness room is packed with cardio and strength-training equipment. Specializing in locally caught seafood, the on-site restaurant, The Regatta Pub, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner for a "Cool and Casual Fare with Flair". In warmer weather, the tables spill out onto the patio and on cooler nights we have roaring firepits for guests to relax and enjoy a beverage or meal next to. Laundry service is a plus and Parking is always free. Our doormen will be most happy to assist with luggage assistance. LOCATION: With more than 300 years of history just outside the front door, the Salem Waterfront Hotel is a great base for exploring. The hotel sits at Pickering Wharf, close to lots of shopping and dining opportunities. Within walking distance are attractions like the Peabody Essex Museum and the historic Phillips House. Boston Logan International Airport is 15 miles southwest and Boston is 20 miles.

Halfway through the 5 hour drive to Salem on September 10, 2021, the Salem Waterfront Hotel notified me, through Expedia, that they were canceling our reservations for our rooms which I'd made in March 2021. They said they were overbooked and could not honor the reservations for 2 rooms for 2 nights. The Reservations Manager took zero responsibility for leaving my party without any accommodations and we were stuck trying to make alternative arrangements while on the road on our way to Salem. I cannot express how disappointed and frustrated our party was and I encourage you to avoid this property no matter how pretty the pictures. Also, if you value your trip, do not book through any third party as poorly managed properties like this one will use this as a criteria for who to dump if they decide not to honor their commitments. Salem Waterfront Hotel should spend as much time and energy on their service and treatment of customers as they do on staging their photos. I give this hotel a emphatic thumbs down.

Where to start! A error was made when my reservation was updated. Simple error. It happens. Ive run hotels for 20 years, so I know how these things happen. Its not the error, but how you address it. 20+ phone calls and I have yet to speak with the GM. The front desk manager was rude and supercilious. No follow-up or follow-through. Six weeks and I am still waiting for their response. You call the hotel and it goes to voicemail with a full mailbox. How do you run a business this way? The restaurant was another disaster. On a Friday evening, one person was working. One! It was a complete joke. Management of this hotel is atrocious. There just is not excuse. None!

very $$$ room ,,, it was not nice for the $$$ no fridge ,,, no microwave ,,, portable air conditioner sticking in the window , that was broken ,,, the staff was not friendly at all . There was a beer garden next door very loud , and the patrons of that beer garden were allowed to park in the hotel parking lot ,,, so when our family went out to do anything we had to walk ,, because IF we took our car , we would not be able to find a parking spot when we came back ,,, best feature of the place was great shopping right behind it .

Clean, bright room in the heart of everything. Dawn was wonderful to rearrange so my family could all be on the same floor. We asked directions to a Haunted walking tour, and the desk manager, Christopher, was kind enough to actually shuttle us there. Terrific service from a great team. We’ll stay here again.
