Reading previous reviews gave the impression that the Fairmount is a beautifully decorated historical hotel. Reality - this is one shabby gal who needs a major facelift. We were a party of 8 rooms and we were seriously disappointed. Room 311 has the dirtiest bathroom air vent you have ever seen. Black dirt/mold literally falls like snow from it when...

This hotel was less expensive than others close to my conference hotel and this is likely due to its age. Walking there from the riverwalk/downtown is less than 5 minutes but the route is more deserted than I expected. The hotel is beautiful with antiques and a vintage Victorian style. Unfortunately it does show it's age-there is an overall musty...

I booked a room for my wedding party to get ready in and decided we needed more rooms. Marisa was able to help me get the extra rooms as well as get us all on the same floor. She was extremely helpful and made the process so simple.

I love the feel of this hotel. It is like you stepped back in time, except for the modern amenities. The high ceilings, the cool wallpaper and really nice fixtures make it a unique experience. I stayed while at a conference at the Henry B Gonzales center and it was a perfect walking distance. Very nice people that make you...

We love the Fairmount for what it was; unfortunately what we loved is no longer present. First, the positives: a beautiful building once lovingly restored and a wonderful location across from the convention center and a pleasant walk to the River Walk. Now for the negatives: the website describes a "chic family-style Tuscan Italian restaurant which was closed several months...

I stayed at the Fairmont about 20 years ago and loved it. This year, when I returned, the photos online did not match the hotel's current state. My room needed serious repair help. The shower was rusty and needed special instructions to use, since the handles were falling off. The floor dropped about 5 inches from one side of the...

My friends and I visit yearly for a conference in San Antonio and always stay at the Fairmont. It's near to the convention center and many restaurants. It is very old and has wonderful antique furniture and feel. The bathrooms are modern though, and there are tvs in the rooms. The rooms are large, we have had a sitting area...

The hotel is old... the best part was the staff... the worst was the bathroom in my room. The tub was not draining properly, the wall paper near the floor was pealing and dirty floor boards. The musty and humid smell and feel of the room would not be good for anyone suffering from respiratory problems. If you can afford...

Beautiful older hotel, filled with antiques and full of charm. The staff is wonderful, and our room was clean, quiet, and beautifully decorated. We were just a short (0.3 mi) walk from the Convention Center, and directly across from Hemisfair Park.

Hotel has great location! Just next to La Villita, Riverwalk and Alamo. Rooms are beautiful, original, romantic with historic furniture. Staff is very nice and helpful. We needed early check in for wedding guests and we received our rooms early as needed! One minus I can see is: some renovations are necessary. Old buildings need a lot of maintenance. With...
