This hotel is a must when visiting San Antonio simply for it's history, not to mention the location- across the street from the Alamo. There are many antiques and portions of the hotel that are kept as original. including the Menger Bar location of Roosevelt recruiting of the Rough Riders. The staff is very friendly and helpful in the hotel... More

Our first stay. We were very impressed with the historic decor and ambiance. Food and service in the dining room were excellent. Friendly and attentive staff. Easy walking distance to all Riverwalk attractions and the historic Alamo. Will come again whenever we are in San Antonio.

Great location. Walking distance from the Alamo, the mall and the riverwalk. We really enjoyed the ambiance. Well lit area. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. It was a great family experience. We will do this again.

Staff was very nice, but here we thought we were staying in a 3.5 star hotel and when we got there, they had put us in a hearing impaired room, which we could handle, then the when we set on the bed, both beds squeaked horribly bad. My 6 six year old daughter would sit and it would squeak. The... More

I stayed at the Menger while attending a conference. It was in a great location, central to everything I wanted. The hotel room was very clean and the staff was very nice and helpful. The hotel itself was beautiful...the only disappointment I had is I didn't get a photo of a ghost. If I ever get back to the area... More

I stayed in this hotel three nights for a conference and loved my stay. I found my room comfortable and clean (some complained about their rooms being too cold, but that was not the case for me). The staff treated me with kindness. The location is the best of all. Everything was within walking distance. I would stay in this... More

I couldn't take decent shower because the hot and cold water wasn't mixing, creating either extreme hot or cold. Several of my friends who were guests in other rooms also experienced this too. There was a mouse in a room 2 rooms away from me. Our checking in experience wasn't good, my friend was given the wrong room key, then... More

I recently spent four nights at this property while attending a program there. I was a bit concerned when told we had been placed in the older section of the hotel since we were sharing a room. Older hotels often have very small rooms; this was quite the opposite. The room was quite spacious, with two double beds, an open... More

I recently stayed at this hotel for 3 nights on a business trip. We arrived by plane a few hours before check-in time but they allowed us to check-in early. We were given a room that has a balcony and overlooks the pool area. The room was fairly clean and the beds were pretty comfortable. The location really is perfect.... More

I stayed at the Menger while attending a conference at the Marriott. Rather than spend my time in a hotel that could have been ANY hotel ANYWHERE in the world, I decided to stay in one that had some local history. The Menger definitely has history! I stopped in the bar just to see where Teddy Roosevelt recruited for his... More
