The Inn of the Shenandoah is an elegantly remodeled Victorian home located in the heart of Luray. In typical European flair, antique glass windows elegantly adorn two mirroring dining and sitting rooms outfitted with beautiful crystal chandeliers. The Inn features three suites outfitted with jacuzzi tubs for two, with outdoor balconies, crystal chandeliers and king or queen beds. The Inn has a large back yard with gardens and is regularly used for special events and weddings. Guests may also choose to stay in the Cottage, directly behind the Inn, which houses two oversized suites with kitchenettes, Jacuzzi bathtubs, and private decks.

This B&B is awesome!

Prior to arriving we were asked what kind of quiche we liked for breakfast and that, plus fresh pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt and more is what we had for breakfast the next day.

Upon arrival Art, the property manager, greeted us and walked us through the house (told us to make ourselves at home) then showed us our beautiful Victorian room with a jacuzzi and sitting room. Then he went and got our luggage for us.

Art learned it was our anniversary so before we even got settled in we got a text saying there was a bottle of wine just outside our door.

Art went above and beyond all the time. Once my glasses came apart and Art ran to Walmart to get 2 different repair kits. Another time he forgot to put scones out for breakfast and as we were in our car heading out for the day he comes rushing out with the scones in a baggie.

We have many more wonderful stories.

Stay here. You will not regret it.

Proprietor Art Buehler runs a wonderful operation. The Inn of the Shenandoah is housed in a spacious and historic Victorian home, with supremely comfortable rooms and attractive common spaces, all lavishly equipped with period furnishings arranged with unstinting attention to detail. Art himself is a treasure, a supremely friendly presence who provides valuable advice on local sites and who knows the nearby Shenandoah National Park with lifelong intimacy. He has prepared his own, personal guide to the Park, which we found invaluable in selecting specific destinations during our limited stay. For his generous breakfasts, Art draws on the best of local bakeries and cheerily accommodates individual needs and preferences.

The owners are very attentive to guests and every bit of the stay was welcoming and accommodating. From the greeting when you arrive, the little touches in your guest room, and delectable assortments for breakfast, the experience was everything we could have hoped for in a weekend getaway. It is quite evident the owners take pride in their property and the service they provide. We highly recommend anyone visiting Luray, VA to stay at The Inn of the Shenandoah.

We had a quick weekend stay that was truly an enjoyable time. The architecture of this Victorian home is amazing from the inside to outside; the attention to detail will not go unnoticed. The home is very clean and well maintained, having 3 spacious and beautifully decorated bedrooms. The Innkeeper Art was welcoming, knowledgeable and extremely accommodating. He had plenty of recommendations of places in Luray in which to dine or relax outside enjoying a beverage while listening to live music. For eats, we had lunch at Gathering Grounds Patisserie & Cafe, takeout dinner on the front porch of the Inn from Il Vesuvio Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria and finished our weekend sitting outside for brunch at Mimslyn Inn. For drinks, we tried Hawksbill Brewing Company and West Main Market Beer & Wine Garden which also has live music! On Art’s recommendation, we beat the crowds with an early visit to Luray Caverns for a jaw dropping spectacle...the place is truly inspiring. We plan to be back soon, and participate in a more active adventure, while taking advantage of Art’s recommendations for hikes along Skyline Drive and kayaking down the South Fork Shenandoah River.

We loved our stay at the Inn of Shenandoah. Art is an amazing host, very easy to communicate, knows everything about the area, and is always available for any questions. You will be treated to delicious, fresh pastries, fruit, and juices for breakfast. Rooms are very comfortable with everything you would need including a mini fridge. The inn is a beautiful Victorian house with lots of space to hang out and very close (2-5 minutes of walking) to food and drink options in the town. It's also a great base for hiking, close to Shenandoah NP, Old Rag Mountain, and George Washington State Forest. We're already planning on going back in Fall and would definitely recommend it to anyone who would love to explore the area and hike the nearby mountains.

Conveniently located on the main thoroughfare of Luray, this lovely, charming, clean bed and breakfast provided all the best bells & whistles and more. A shining example of southern hospitality with little touches like take-away anytime snacks and coffee, fresh flowers for your room, bath salts for the large sunken tub, an in-room refrigerator, and one of the most friendly, accommodating, welcoming innkeepers we've ever encountered. Breakfast was always delicious with multiple offerings. If we ever needed a recommendation or a to-do idea, Innkeeper Art was a font of information. We so appreciated our relaxing and restorative stay here. This place is so much better than staying at a DIY Airbnb!

What can I say. When you stay here you are treated like royalty. At least that's how it was for me and my wife. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary. We stayed here for our honeymoon and wanted a special treat for our 30th. Making the reservations was easy. Normally they close down for the winter starting in December, but they were accommodating and stayed open for us to celebrate our 30th. The house and rooms are well decorated with many antiques and art. We stayed in The Boudoir Suite which consisted of a king size bed in one room and the bath/spa in the other. The bathroom was as big as our bedroom with a separate shower and jacuzzi hot tub. It had its own entrance and private deck area. One other nice advantage was the private parking in the rear with a gated entrance. Art, the resident staff member, was the kindest friendliest person you could have on site. He met all of our needs. When it came to where to go or for things to do, he was honest and had a lot of ideas. The same was for eating out. He lets you know what the reviews were from previous guests along with his own personal experiences. He took in the consideration for my wife's gluten sensitivity and took the time to get her snacks and prepare her breakfasts to be gluten-free. Whenever we saw him he would always ask us how we were doing and if he could get us anything. It was always a pleasure talking with him. We are looking forward to visiting again in the spring to take part in Luray's water, hiking and other outdoors activities. If you are looking for a place to relax with a friendly atmosphere no need to look anywhere else this is the place to go.

The Inn of the Shenandoah provides a very pleasant, quiet place to relax. Innkeeper Art was very attentive to our preferences for breakfast, providing lots of healthy choices. Location is perfect for walking to restaurants, shops, and churches. Outside entrances to suites provide easy access. Roses and chocolates were waiting for us by my request for our anniversary.

We made a last minute decision to visit the Luray area for a weekend, and we are so glad we found the Inn of the Shenandoah. Upon arrival we were greeted by Janina (the owner) and Larry (the sweet doodle). Janina was very welcoming and attentive during our stay and had lots of great recommendations for things to see and places to eat. The Inn is beautiful and we loved the room. Feels like they have thought of everything to make sure their guests are comfortable and enjoy their stay. Breakfast was also wonderful with a wide assortment. We highly recommend anyone visiting Luray, VA to stay at The Inn of the Shenandoah.

Our stay in Luray with Janina was absolutely perfect. We gravitate towards places to stay that are steeped in culture, history, quirkiness and intimacy. The Inn of the Shenandoah has plenty to spare! As we were escorted in and up to our room we felt the warmth and beauty we were looking for— luxurious sitting rooms filled with interesting treasures and antique stained glass, Billie Holiday cooing through the main floor stereo, a glimpse of the cozy nook awaiting us for breakfast. We arrived in the King Turret suite and Janina explained and provided everything we needed to enjoy our stay. One of the amenities I was most jazzed for was the in room jacuzzi tub. To enjoy a soak in the luxury and openness of your room, with soft dimmed light and gentle music, what a joy! There is a private entrance to the room that is accessible by the wrap around deck, and it's nice that it is right by the jacuzzi. If it was a warmer season I would have left the door open to enjoy the sunset spring air. Janina's breakfast service was excellent with an abundant spread of delicious offerings. We fell in love with this sweet Inn and Janina herself, as this is a top tier Bed and Breakfast to enjoy in the VA mountains.

Skyline Drive is a stunning, scenic roadway that stretches for 105 miles through Shenandoah National Park. The Inn of the Shenandoah is centrally located in downtown Luray, Virginia just 15 minutes from the Thornton Gap entrance (accessible via Route 211) to Shenandoah National Park.

Not in the cottage, for sure. I can't say for sure in the main house but from our experience, I don't believe it would be accessible by wheelchair or scooter.
