I selected Little American Hotel based on its location and positive reviews. The Hotel is convenient to downtown Flagstaff (several miles) and the freeway, yet it can feel very remote. Behind the hotel are hiking trails leading through Ponderosa pines (directions are minimal so keep tabs on where you are) , a pool, hot tub, children's play area and volleyball court. The hotel restaurant has an upscale feel, yet you don't need upscale clothing. Children are welcome. A short walk away is the Truck Stop which is clean, and seems well managed. I stayed in a 2nd floor King room which was spacious with sliding doors that open to a balconette overlooking a lush courtyard. The room was very welcoming, clean, comfortable and modern. It appeared to have been recently remodeled. The entry door to the room did not have a secondary lock. The 2nd floor balcony doors do have secondary locks. With the exception of usual early evening hallway guest noise the hotel is quiet. I believe staying in the back of the hotel on the 2nd floor is best for reduced noise. The restaurant does not require reservations. The service is professional and friendly. The food is tasty and nicely prepared and presented. Parking is included with your stay. Not pets or smoking on property. Be prepared to maneuver by semi's as you enter the road to the hotel. Also, some guests hang their damp hiking clothes/swim gear on the balconies which can look a bit trashy when you first arrive.

I booked this hotel based on the glowing reviews and I am happy to report the hype is real. My husband and I spent two nights in a spacious room with a comfortable king size bed, a nice couch, armchair, writing desk area, and a massive bathroom with a sink inside and outside of it. The room was in Lodge Two and faced the parking lot. We didn't have any noise issues. We also had a nice view of a mountain. The grounds were fantastic. There's a nice pool, volleyball court, and hiking trails; everything is well lit and you get a map when you check-in. Staff were super polite and helpful. Check-in and out was easy peasy. The restaurant had great windows and a nice patio. We had a tasty breakfast there one day, but otherwise ate around town. Staff also wore masks. It is all tucked right off the highway behind the Sinclair gas station so you may think you missed it if you don't drive straight past the pumps. It is an ideal location for exploring all the Flagstaff area has to offer. About a 10 minute drive to downtown. We had an easy time taking road trips to Walnut Canyon and Sunset Crater. It was excellent value for the money and we would certainly suggest to anyone visiting Flagstaff to stay here.

Our #1 choice in the Flagstaff area for decades. Nicely updated and refreshed. Desk, dresser, bedside table, upholstered chairs, sofa in larger rooms, suites too. White bedding, comfortable bed, 4 pillows on each queen bed. Rooms are large compared to most other hotels. Bright, large bath area with glass enclosed walk-in shower, 2 separate sink/vanity areas - one inside the bathroom, the other outside the bathroom so easy for 2 to get ready at same time. Lighted make-up mirror. Toiletries provided. In-drawer 'chilling' refrigerator (no bar size mini-frige or freezer), microwave, coffee maker with a variety of flavor choices, safe, iron/board, good WiFi. Smoke free hotel but we experienced a smoker on 1st floor Juliet Balcony directly below our room. People wearing masks indoors, usually, about 80% in our experience. Mostly clean and neat except for toenail clippings on bathroom floor. (Really people, gross personal hygiene to complete in a hotel without cleaning up after yourself!!!) Housekeeping should have caught. I get they are stretched thin and have limited time in each room. But . . . this is stomach turning. Found same again on our visit a week later in a different room. Maybe bath floor needs vacuuming, especially along edges, before towel wiping/cleaning. (Never walk barefoot in a hotel room!) Odd # rooms are exposed to parking areas and extremely loud and constant traffic noise - major highway for big trucks, sirens, motorcycles. Keeping slider closed and fan on 'medium' helps dull. Easy to see your parked vehicle. Lot patrolled. Even # rooms much quieter with nice view of pool, trees, grounds, playground and hiking trail. You will hear the train whistles from just about every room - to be expected in Flagstaff. Grounds nicely maintained. Lots of mature trees, pines. Two floors, four lodge buildings. We prefer 2nd floor, any lodge building. Elevator not in every lodge, you may have to take stairs if on 2nd floor. I think all accessible rooms are on 1st floor. Lodge #1 is closest to lobby/restaurant/gift shop building. Enclosed walkway between buildings. Lodge #4 is furthest, but still an easy walk. You must use keycard to enter lodges, nice extra security measure. Gift shop with usual travel items, snacks and some unique art and accessories. Restaurant is good and serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and room service. Variety of choices to satisfy most appetites. A bit expensive but so is the hotel when compared to others in the area. Lots of nearby restaurants and fast food too. Adjacent Travel Center/gas station/convenience store with coin laundry.
