Well, this was a pleasant surprise - we got to stay at our favorite hotel in Waikiki, by accident LOL. We made other arrangements due to a family celebration, so we were not able to stay here. But then United cancelled our flight back, which meant we missed our connection home. We were able to fly the next day, and I called at 7:00 am, and Sujiin was just so delightful and accommodating. Yes, I had asked if we could check in early morning and stay until the next morning, and she found a rate for a garden room with ocean view, and it was perfect. Her calmness and friendliness, while being professional, needs to be commended, especially when we had been up since 4:00 am figuring out how we were going to get home.

Another that needs to be commended, Sara. I have a weird sense of humor, but she was up for the game. As mentioned, we have stayed here before, and at that time, they had provided us with Halapuna water bottles, which we loved - unfortunately, we lost the rubber seal and were not able to replace it, she tried upon a visit to the hotel, which we did while in Waikiki. When we arrived, I mentioned that .... she laughed and she really went out of her way - she gave us new bottles, which is just way over the top, and appreciated.

The above is one of the main reasons we LOVE this hotel, attention to personalization and friendliness goes a long way to making a guest feel comfortable. The other is the room, bathroom and terrace...all fantastic and so comfortable. It was lovely having a terrace with two lounge beds, which made it nice to sit and read without going to the pool area.

The bed is one of the best we have ever slept in, the mattress, linens and pillows made for a most comfortable sleep. Also to mention, the best a/c that cools without being loud and obnoxious.

Some, I see, have complained about the size of the room, it has more than enough room with a king bed, desk area, chair and even room to exercise ... we were happy.

All in all, it felt like coming home and that is more than what to expect from a hotel, and we thank you for having a room open for us under unusual circumstances. In two years, will return and we will be more than happy to stay here again. Also to mention Eric and Keko, as well as the woman (ugh forgot name) at the valet parking when we arrived...all great!

Chose Halepuna due to its smaller size which lessened interaction with other guests and for their location away from the crowds of Waikiki. Since they are associated with Halekulani, I knew they would also have excellent service. Their pandemic protocol includes having everything in the room bagged and labeled for cleanliness, including the robes in a bag with zipper lock to ensure they weren't just rehung up after the previous guests. The hotel's decor is really nice and modern and my ocean view room was perfect to watch the sunset from the balcony. Having the Halekulani Bakery downstairs was perfect to grab some of their incredible pastries and coffee in the morning. Although small and sandwiched between the Sheraton and hotel tower, the pool deck was nice to enjoy a drink and relax and get a view of the ocean from the infinity pool. It had enough lounge chairs and cabanas that everyone was safely spaced out.

I had a wonderful experience at the Halepuna by Halekulan. Every member of the team that I encountered, were genuinely friendly, delightful and eager to help. To name a few of those members I would like to extent my heartfelt gratitude are Janine, Melanie, Harry, Chef Aaron, Ryan (these are just the names I remember but honestly everyone should be on this list) because the staff are all great. I stayed in a Mountain View room which was located on the 22nd floor (the hotel has 23 floors, 1-7 is lobby and parking lot, 8th floor is pool with a gorgeous ocean view and on the other side of the 8th floor is the lovely garden with an equally breathtaking view. The room and bathroom was spotlessly clean, spacious, well decorated, the bed was super comfy and almost no outside noise could be heard in the room. I never walk around a hotel room barefeet but this hotel was so clean that I felt 1000% comfortable walking around in my room without house shoes. At the time I stayed it was the first day of the hotel reopening due to covid. I felt for the reopening the team did an amazing job, everything ran smoothly and it felt like they were always in operation despite having to close their doors 8 months after their initial opening back in 2019. Due to Covid restrictions the restaurant was providing meals in takeaway boxes but that did not stop the Chef from creating tasty work of art. All foods was picturesly decorated and presented. I highly recommend Halepuna hotel because it's not as small as traditional boutique hotels but not as big as large chairs hotel so you get that equal balance with personalize service. The hotel is located in a central location, close to everything and if your looking for asthetically decorated, clean and comfortable stay where you get the true worth of your money then go ahead and book here and like how I was not disappointed, I can guarantee you will not be either.

We've traveled to Waikiki over 15x and each time we try to stay at a different hotel. We know the area very well and try to stay near the end of the strip by the Royal Hawaiian center because it's less busy and still very convenient. We stayed at the Sheraton last year and loved our stay because of the ocean front view rooms. This time around we wanted a quieter stay in a newer hotel. The hotel is behind the Sheraton so still very close to all the shops and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay so much, this might be our go-to hotel from now on! We opted for a city view room this time because we always get the ocean view. This view did not disappoint since we got a room on the highest floor. It was quiet the entire time as if were returning home to our very own high rise luxury apartment. The bathroom has a gorgeous white marble design, with very strong shower head pressure and a toto washlet toilet. The amenities are individually wrapped in boxes and plastic so extra sanitary. It is so clean! Each room comes with 2 complimentary water bottles (there are water refueling stations) The entire staff is helpful and goes above and beyond (very attentive Japanese style service). The pool staff will set up your chaise with a fitted towel for you and open/ close umbrellas if needed. Ocean view from the pool is amazing. Each time we go to the pool there's no more than 10 people there. So peaceful. The bell desk staff will give you beach towels rolled up and put them into their custom Halepuna tote bags for you. The only suggestion is for the hotel to get larger towels for the beach. There's also a limited number of boogie boards for guests. If you are looking for a resort type hotel with on site restaurants and bars + a bustling night time scene this hotel is not for you. We don't eat at hotel restaurants so not a big deal for us. There are plenty of restaurants just outside the hotel. New musubi Iyasume just opened on Lewers street around the corner. So many good restaurants within a 10 min walk. Can't praise this hotel enough. Will definitely stay here again next time we're back!

I was a little nervous to book this hotel for my honeymoon, because it’s new and doesn’t have a ton of reviews. Well, I definitely did not need to worry! The Halepuna was absolutely perfect and made our honeymoon very memorable!

From the moment we arrived, the staff was amazing. They were friendly and helpful and really made us feel like VIP!

The room was beautiful - super clean, very modern, and very comfortable. We stayed in a deluxe ocean view room (higher floor) and it was well worth the upgrade. The view was magnificent!

The location is perfect! The front of the hotel is just steps away from the shopping area of Waikiki, and the back of the hotel is steps from public beach access. The hotel is not directly on the beach (there’s a building in between), but because it’s elevated, you get an ocean view throughout.

Some things about the Halepuna that we really enjoyed: They offer a packed beach bag with towels to use when we went out. Guests are given insulated water bottles (there’s a refilling station in the lobby), which isn’t just environmentally friendly, but it means you can have cold water throughout a long, hot day. The covid precautions (everything was individually wrapped, frequent cleaning of high touch surfaces, a little kit with masks and hand sanitizers in each room, etc) made us feel very safe. I mentioned it before but it bears repeating - the staff were absolutely excellent!

And the best part? We let them know it was our honeymoon so they surprised us with beautiful florals on our bed when we arrived, as well as a bottle of wine.

We absolutely loved this hotel and highly recommend it! The value for your money at the Halepuna is unmatched!

Can’t say enough about this property. It felt modern and the staff was so friendly from housekeeping, front desk, pool attendants and valets.

Location wise it was perfect for us based on the northern tip of Waikiki it was close enough to the action without feeling crowded and hard to get to. (Came in May so it might be different in the summer months)

The ocean view is amazing to relax to with the balcony and I really appreciated how well thought out each room was in regards to chargers, fridge, tv, blinds and bathroom.

Would def like to come back and visit when the bakery is open and try the food at the resort as well!

I booked Halepuna for my partners birthday and all of our expectations were exceeded! Words cannot express how amazing our stay was. From the beginning our room was spotless, decorated for his birthday and we received a bottle of wine. Although we were on the 10th floor the ocean view was absolutely beautiful! The hotel provides everything you need like masks, sanitizer, water thermast, dental kit, sewing kit, nail care kit, etc. The location is also perfect right by the beach and restaurants but away from the crowded parts of Waikiki.

Our package included daily breakfast and everything was delicious! The current breakfast options were traditional (eggs, bacon, hash, veggie), healthy (chia smoothie & avocado toady) and local (loco moco). You cannot go wrong with any of the breakfast options as well as anything else from the Halekulani bakery. Checkin for breakfast was a delight every time we saw Wendy! We were served by Peter, Keaton and another lady that I wish I remembered the name of, but everyone was friendly and courteous.

The pool is much bigger than you could see in photos. The pool water is the perfect temperature and the staff sets you up with towels and chairs. I was helped by Yuki and Carl who were both amazing! They both let us stay a little after 6PM. Yuki even gave us complimentary champagne for my partners birthday. All of the cocktails at the bar were the best we had on the island. The bartender Tuta, perfectly prepared all of our cocktails. There is even a spicy cocktail that was a pleasant surprise, I have never had anything like it! When it comes to the beach you, the hotel is right on Waikiki Beach. The valet staff provides you with a complimentary beach bag that includes two towels. You could exchange the bag daily, which was very convenient. Herme from the valet provided exceptional service helping us out daily.

Last but certainly not least I just want to thank Wendy! We really want to thank her for going above and beyond for us! We really appreciate everything she did for us from the smiles, conversations to the amazing gesture when we got back to our room. One day we couldn't get breakfast because we left so early for a tour. Once we got back Wendy had packaged beautiful pastries from the bakery and left it in our room with a note. It was the sweetest suprise!

Stop contemplating on booking this amazing hotel and just do it! I cannot wait to return and have already recommended it to all my friends. Thanks again to the amazing staff!!

Loved the Halepuna, very clean and modern. The service is more in-line with a top Asian hotel, the staff was very helpful when needed. They definitely take cleanliness during the pandemic seriously, as everything in the room was wrapped in sealed bags (even the remote!). The location is also good, just steps away from shops and the beach. I should note that the hotel seems more suited to couples than families, I don’t think we saw a single family with kids during our stay. The attached bakery is a must try in the morning, in particular try the Panama cream croissant which seems unique to them (I wish I can find one of those back home). Highly recommend.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It’s located a few feet from the ocean and right next to Sheraton and the sister property Halekulani. The check in process didn’t start off right but the manager stepped in and we were upgraded to a Mountain View. The rooms are modern, they recently renovated the property. The view was awesome. The room was clean, bed very comfortable. Complimentary bottled water and Keurig in room.
Fridge in the room was a plus. Housekeeping checked on us every night to replenish water, empty trash or pick up dirty linen. The shower and the Toto toilet were fabulous.( I might just get me one of those toilets)
The breakfast buffet was delicious, many choices to choose from and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Food was seasoned well and the omelettes were so good!!!!
We had a late night flight and they extended our check out time and also gave us access to the room on the 8th floor to freshen up and relax. WOW!!!!
Overall I enjoyed my stay and highly recommend it. The manager was very friendly and attentive to our needs.
Location is a plus. Will definitely be back!

So glad I stumbled onto this gem via AmEx.

The bad: its affiliation with Halekulani is a little misleading; its across the street but i dont think you have access to anything at the main resort. And there are two entrances, each located in the underbelly of the Sheraton hotel and garage. I couldnt believe how trashy those streets are despite being so close to the ocean.

But once youre inside, wow. Just a wonderful property. I was "upgraded" to a "mountain view" room which was nonsense- every room either faces the city/mountains, or the beach, so its hard to understand what I was upgraded from? But man the room was BEAUTIFUL with brand new electronic blinds, lighting, terraces, bedding, etc. The pool is small and not great for swimming (shallow) but beautiful infinity effect towards the ocean. Loved (pricey) breakfast downstairs too. There are surf lessons and restaurants nearby. Solid location in between all the bigger resorts.

This is not a resort- its a block back from the beach and isnt built to accommodate hanging out on site for days. But as a base to explore Honolulu its perfect: quick access to the beach and one block away from the main drag. Absolutely thrilled I got to spend a few days here.

a very quick walk to the beach, there is one road to cross but it's not a main road and is very pedestrian friendly. For a hotel that is not ocean front, it's about as close as you can get to the ocean!

The Halepuna is tucked in between the Sheraton and the Halekulani. You can see the ocean, but you see more of the Sheraton and the Halekulani than you do the Ocean. We were on the 15th floor. It's a very small balcony, not really a veranda. Room enough for two small chairs and a small table. You definitely look directly into the Sheraton Rooms and vice versa. There is a wall between you and the adjacent room balcony. Sitting out is noisy with air conditioning units and traffic. I've never stayed at the Halekulani, but this sister property although very nice is not a twin sister. There are no food services (no bar, coffee, restaurant, etc) though you can get drinks and food at the pool on the 8th floor when it is open. I enjoyed staying here; it is very quiet, clean, comfortable and nice...but the dramatic price difference does reflect in the views and services. You simply aren't getting a $1200 room at the Halekulani for $600 at the Halepuna.

$150 sounds about right. You can’t use the pool at a Halekulani but you can use the restaurants and spa, charging back to your Halepuna room. The breakfast package includes breakfast at the Halekulani.

Sorry I can’t assist as I’ve never stayed in a standard room. The hotel itself had a full refurb a couple of years ago and all rooms are first class! I would suggest a partial ocean view if it’s feasible as you really don’t want to forego a glimpse of the blue water every day! The Halepuna staff are so welcoming and very helpful. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else when we travel here!
