In three words...an urban oasis. This was my first time to Surfjack, and it won't be my last. From the minute we walked into the space, we were treated as ohana. The front desk learned that it was my partner's 30th birthday, and they upgraded our room to a one-bedroom suite as their gift to us. To be quite honest, the whole establishment is a gift to travelers. You have a ground floor pool / courtyard area which serves as a communal space to plan your day, enjoy your libations, or read a book bought at the boutique / coffeeshop adjoining the space. And, if you want a breakfast burrito, look no further than Mahina & Sons, which also adjoins the property. One of our favorite things to do after our day trips around Oahu was to come back and soak up the warm energy of the Surfjack and its staff. (And I was a fan of how dog friendly they are. The dogs were JUST as happy to be in such a fun locale.) Mahalo to the staff for being expert guides to the area. They shared tips for Diamond Head Crater hikes and for North Shore Shark Adventures. And the hotel is so convenient to Waikiki Beach and the Honolulu nightlife. And because we wanted to have some of the Surfjack back with us in Manhattan, we bought three prints of places we explored in Oahu from the boutique within the hotel. Surfjack will definitely be one of our designated spots each time we visit Oahu. It is now our ohana as well.

Hotel's Favourite
We've stayed at the Surfjack twice now and have enjoyed each stay. Because we live in Hawaii, we got free upgrades so each stay was in a suite instead of just a room. The decor is retro surf which makes it infinitely instagrammable and the bottom of the pool even looks like a retro postcard saying "Wish you were here!" The restaurant is truly a gem and you won't want to miss breakfast. There is an adobo pork egg dish that we had to get every morning and even at night, the food was amazing. The bartenders and staff are very helpful and attentive but not overbearing. Our friend booked one of the penthouses and let me tell you, THOSE are the rooms you want if you can afford it. The views were spectacular and frankly, I'd never leave the penthouse if we stayed there.

We stayed here for 5 nights and it was perfect! We skipped a view of the ocean to stay here and it was well worth it! Everyone here is friendly and treats you like family! You’re not rushed to get your stuff in your room, we were literally encouraged to go get settled then we could worry about parking the car. We were always greeted with a smile and no request felt like a bother. The bartender treats you like you’ve been coming there for years and is so accommodating! Tiki at the front desk feels like an old friend the minute you arrive! They have the cutest hotel dog, Jack! This is casual yet feels high end at the same time and is clean and safe during the pandemic. My teenage daughter asked if we could stay again when we come back and our answer is we will not stay anywhere else! Thank you to the crew at surfjack for such a great experience!

Great prices, super military and pet friendly. After being turned away or asked to pay outrageous non-refundable fees several times by chain hotels because of my dog, I was incredibly relieved to find Surfjack. Their staff is very friendly and accommodating. For locals or military, you cannot beat their amenities and waived fees. The rooms were clean, hotel restaurant/ bar was very convenient. Would recommend the Surfjack to anyone staying in Honolulu that wants a vintage Hawaii vibe and doesn't want to drain their bank account. (All the things we loved about Laylow for a much more reasonable price). Note to Surfjack: Please expand your restaurant menu! I love eating by the pool, but I ran out of options to try.
