Great hotel for a great price especially in such an expensive area! You are right in the middle of Ala Moana Shopping Centre and Waikiki with a 15 min walk in each direction. The hotel offers free coffee in the lobby every morning (which is a blessing) and a fridge and microwave in each room. The real prize of this hotel is the staff, we had requested an early check in as we arrived in Honolulu at 6am after a full day of travel. I was aware that early check in was not guaranteed but on arrival the staff went out of their way to get us into a room as soon as possible. They were upfront with extra costs of early check in and did offer to hold bags at no cost with concierge if we preferred to wait. I had a parcel sent to the hotel with no problems and they were strict with ID and Hotel key for parcel collection which was amazing. If you can book a tour with Yogi (or even just have a chat) do so, he booked us with a couple of tours that were affordable and amazing, he also didn't try and sell us tours he knew we wouldn't be interested in. Another HUGE plus Is this hotel has NO resort fees! Trust me, for Hawaii this is amazing! he rooms are very dated and AC/Bathrooms are in need of an upgrade but honestly it's what you need and another big plus - They have a laundry mat on premises that we had no problem with! Overall I definitely recommend staying here if you want to save on money but not customer service.

We spent one night (Dec. 6, 2019) in a King Room prior to our cruise. The staff was very efficient and friendly, which was a great welcome for us to Hawaii for the first time. We had two nights booked in a King Room after our cruise ended (Dec. 14 and 15, 2019), and because we disembarked at 8:30am, we arrived at our hotel by 9am. Because we were early, our room was not available yet (which was understandable). The hotel desk staff suggested that we could leave our luggage with the porter in a secured area (at no charge), which would allow us to walk around Waikiki until our room was ready. Because we had already eaten breakfast on the ship, we weren't hungry, and we were just looking forward to checking in, so we decided to sit in the lobby until our room was ready. Check out wasn't until 12 noon, so we knew we could be in for a lengthy wait.
As we were sitting in the lobby, we decided to talk to the concierge and book the Oahu Grand Circle Island Tour for the following day (which turned out to be a great tour). The concierge was very friendly and helpful.
At 10:30, we were told that our room was ready for us, so we checked in. The staff apologized for the long wait (which was out their contol), and again were very nice and friendly.
It wasn't until we got to our room that we realized that we had been upgraded to a King Balcony Room, which was so nice, and completely unexpected!!
Because our flight wasn't leaving until just before midnight on Dec. 16, we decided to go to the front desk to see if we could have the room for an additional night (Dec. 16). They had a look at the reservations, and saw that the room we were in was already booked for someone else for Dec. 16. Because our room was set up as an adjoining room, and the people that made the reservation for Dec. 16 had booked that room along with the adjoining room, the hotel staff began looking at another adjoining room set-up that they could move that reservation to, so that we could stay in the room until we checked out late on Dec. 16. The reservations clerk was successful in shifting that other reservation, and we stayed in the same King Balcony Room for a third night (at no extra cost to us for the upgrade).
The trouble that the reservations person went through to grant our request went above and beyond what we expected, and made us so happy that we booked this hotel for our stay!
Although this hotel is older, it is well-maintained and well appointed.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone who may not want to spend an exorbitant amount on accommodations (when really, you shouldn't be in your room very much, other than to shower and sleep) - you are in Hawaii, after all!!
Thank you to all the staff at the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Waikiki...keep up the great customer service!!

Three very nice days at Ramada Plaza Waikiki prior to boarding ship. The hotel front desk staff was very accommodating and cordial, the room was comfortable and with a very beautiful view of the city, and the hotel has an immaculately kept self-serve laundry area for guests which was a real plus. Housekeeping staff was friendly but running late each of the three days, but eventually did show and the room was refreshed daily albeit later than expected. For the price and location, this hotel worked fine for a pre-cruise stay. The pool was pleasant, too. Thank you!

Stayed here for 4 nights booked by my mother under Wyndham time share.

On arrival after a long flight from NY, the front desk staff Bo check us in, we didnt feel welcome, she talked over us when i tried to explain or make something clear with her. She was the same on another ocassion when we tried to give back a letter that we thought was mistakenly give to us (i called the number on the paper left in our room and it was for other guest which promt us to give the letter back) and she kept trying to talk over me and felt like she was annoyed at us. She wasnt accomodating at all so i just let her talk and talk. As guests we shouldnt have to feel that way.

However the rooms were clean and spacious and other staff were welcoming and eady ti talk to. It is located close to Ala moana and abit of a walk to waikiki, we hired a car and cost us $23 after joining the membership otherwise $28.
The carpets might need abit of cleaning especially the hallways. Otherwise we would stay again.

Customer service by Bo could be improved

We stayed here on a pre-move house hunting trip. We chose it due to location (great), decent price, no resort fee, and that it had a microwave and mini fridge in the room and washer/dryer on the premises. All these things were great, but-
This place needs a major cleaning/overhaul. Our window was basically "open" due to age/decay. Since we faced the street, our sleep was disrupted every night.
Also, while noticing an odd look to the wallpaper, I investigated. Much to my dismay, I discovered a thick layer of dust all over the walls and the drapes. I wonder how many years since these rooms have been cleaned thoroughly?
I don't blame the housekeeping staff for the immense amount of dust, but they also did only a cursory job of cleaning our room ( hair in the tub, and no toiletry refills for 2 days).
There are also only a few balcony rooms, which we didn't have, and a week in the room at night became claustrophobic.
When we return, I'll be looking for a new place. Not what I expected from a Marriott hotel at all.

Booked this hotel thru my Wyndham rewards but could not use my rewards points (Diamond member).

July 2021 pricing was $175 per night which is half of the rest of Waikiki.

Stayed 5 nights and the service was OK.
Room was fine (2 doubles) and basic (refrigerator, microwave, safe).

Front desk did not greet me as a Diamond member, did not receive an upgraded room, and didn't receive late checkout time offer.

Housekeeping was very good - very prompt and cleaned the room daily.

In room safe was broken and took 3 calls to have it replaced.

On site restaurant was not used (Korean) even with a 20% discount.

Did use the laundry service - 2 machines were broken causing some wait times.

Did not use the pool as the limit was 4 people.

Without any resort fees, we were able to get a good deal.
Valet parking offered for a cost per night - discount for Wyndham members.

For the money, it was a great deal for someone who has activities all day and want a comfy bed at night.

The Ramada is just a few minutes walk off Waikiki beach it far enough back to not attract crazy prices but close enough to walk to all the fun places. All of our tours had no trouble picking us up from this hotel. And Ala Moana was with 15 minutes walk much appreciated. If you all out all day this is the perfect hotel. Their was a designated smoking area “much appreciated!!” With seats which I found a bit of a rare thing over hear, staff are friendly and rooms are in good condition are very clean ! Traffic noise was not a problem for me as the aircon was loud enough to cover the noise. If I stayed again I get a room with balcony ( city side) as it much nicer view.

An older property that could use an update/renovation -- especially the carpets and curtains. Service was good. Staff was great. Rooms are refreshed when the "do no disturb" sign is not on the doorknob. Refreshed meaning beds are made, trash is taken out as well as recycling, toiletries are re-stocked and towels are replaced. The room refreshments made the room/hotel feel a bit cleaner/less outdated. The hotel had a mini fridge and working microwave. Had the basics of what we needed. Parking is $23 daily when you sign up for Wyndham membership/rewards or $28 daily without. Within walking distance to the local beach and convenience stores around the area as well as a McDonald's and local restaurants. No frills property but not bad.

I stayed at the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Waikiki for 10 days this month. Overall, the hotel was definitely not as bad as the review had scared me into believing.

The location was great, about 15-20 minutes walk from both Waikiki and Ala Moana. Considering the price of car rentals, this was great since it meant we didn't need a car (or costly Ubers) for 6 of our 10 days there.

The hotel itself is in an old 70s-looking concrete highrise, which is extremely common in Honolulu (90% of the highrises look the same) but might look dated if you're not accustomed to it.

The lobby looks very nice and clean. Check-in agents were very professional and helpful.

The elevator broke one day during my visit, but was fixed within 6 hours.

The room itself was fine. $200 a night for a 16th floor room with two beds. Room was clean and maids were very good at cleaning (even folding some of our fleeces we'd thrown on the bed).

View wasn't much (just some 70s buildings across the Street), but that's minor.

Did not see roaches or anything living while in my stay. Some other reviews mentioned roach problems, but happy to report that I did not in either my room, 16th floor open area, lobby or outside.

In regards to the parking, we used it for 2 days. It was a painful experience and I would not do it again. The charge is $28, which is fair for the area. But the parking spots are tiny and there's a very limited amount of them.

I had a regular Ford Fusion but even I couldn't fit into the space without having to scrape the car beside me. So there's a huge lineup of cars by the road behind the hotel, which is fine if you can parallel park into a ridiculous tiny space in a winding road.

Otherwise, you have to ask the parking lady for help, who isn't really helpful and just points to parking spots that you can clearly see. When you mention that there's no space, her only solution was to park in a side street (what am I paying $28 for?). I had to circle around the hotel area for 30 minutes and eventually got to park in the 15 minute zone because it was the only part available. Apparently, they have backup parking, but the parking lady said "you don't want to go there" (not sure if that's for safety reasons or what).

Either way, super stressful experience, so if you rent a car, please be back to the hotel by 6pm or be in for a joyride of bewildering road rage and anger.

Parking in all of Waikiki is a mess, so I won't really penalize the hotel for that.

Overall, I'd stay again. Honolulu is a very expensive city and I thought $200 a night for what I got was a good deal. Other than parking, it was clean and nice, if a bit dated.

The Ramada plaza by Wyndham Waikiki has affordable rates with no resort fees in a convenient location.
The pink line trolley stops in front of the hotel. The red line trolley and the blue line trolley stop across the street. The city bus which will take you anywhere on the island also stops in front of the hotel. You don’t really need a car if you’re staying at the Ramada plaza.
