For 23 years, I stayed there three times a year. People keep going back because they truly make you feel welcome the moment you step in. It is in the heart of Waikiki, not on the beach, but two blocks away. Yes, it will get noisy at times, but it is charming in an old fashioned way. When you step... More

I stayed at the Royal Grove with a large group of musician's who were there for the Hawaiian Ukulele Festival. This grand old lady's is just the perfect place to stay when you are a ukulele aficionado. I stayed in room 209 which is a spacious corner suite and had everything I needed including a large fridge and perfectly functioning... More

We loved this family-run old style hotel, central to everything and 5 mins walk to Waikiki beach. We went with a large group to attend the ukulele festival and all but 1 out of 7 rooms were delightfully clean, large, comfortable, air-conditioned, own bathroom, kitchenette, full-size fridge, balcony and serviced. The odd room out was a cheapy (no air-con and... More

Stayed in one of the condos across the road. Room was well appointed and comfortable. A little shabby and dated but everything worked fine. The desk staff were all very helpful and appeared to give genuine unbiased advice without trying to push any particular operator. The location is ideal only a short walk to the beach and shops.

I lived there for 8 nights as a solo traveler. I checked in the room #309, a spacious corner room with lanai overlook the streets and the swimming pool. A very nice room next to the elevator, so it is very quiet. Like many reviewers mentioned, the room is very clean and room service is every second day. Sometimes I... More

Lots of shops nearby and very good pop up farmers markets at kings Village in next block for excellent fresh fruit and local foods In the early evening. Rooms are clean... More

If you are looking for a blast from the past with similar prices and an old fashioned Hawaiian style family hotel this is the place for you. We have just arrived back home to Australia after spending 12 wonderful days in Hawaii staying at this hidden gem. No it is not the Royal Hawaiian or The Trump Hotel and if... More

I really wanted to like the Royal Grove, as I often select budget places and have had great luck following "one-star" suggestions of Fodor's and Frommer's in the US and those of Rick Steves when travelling in Europe. But I was disappointed with this one. The need for paint made it feel unclean and uncared for. Some of the towels... More

Room was as I expected based on other reviews. Yes it is a bit "shabby chic", but the best vale for your money only a short block from the beach. Unless you are coming to Oahu to spend time in your room, this place will more than fill the bill

We had booked this hotel for a week having already spent a week in Vancouver. We chose the Royal Grove because it was well located, cheap and had amazingly good reviews. I'm not sure what I'm missing because I hated the place. It was old, tired and grubby. The air-con was intermittent so the room stiflingly hot. It was noisy,... More
