If you are looking for a blast from the past with similar prices and an old fashioned Hawaiian style family hotel this is the place for you. We have just arrived back home to Australia after spending 12 wonderful days in Hawaii staying at this hidden gem. No it is not the Royal Hawaiian or The Trump Hotel and if...

I really wanted to like the Royal Grove, as I often select budget places and have had great luck following "one-star" suggestions of Fodor's and Frommer's in the US and those of Rick Steves when travelling in Europe. But I was disappointed with this one. The need for paint made it feel unclean and uncared for. Some of the towels...

Room was as I expected based on other reviews. Yes it is a bit "shabby chic", but the best vale for your money only a short block from the beach. Unless you are coming to Oahu to spend time in your room, this place will more than fill the bill

We had booked this hotel for a week having already spent a week in Vancouver. We chose the Royal Grove because it was well located, cheap and had amazingly good reviews. I'm not sure what I'm missing because I hated the place. It was old, tired and grubby. The air-con was intermittent so the room stiflingly hot. It was noisy,...

We loved our stay at the royal grove, I can't say anything bad about this hotel and when something is not quite right they are right onto it. The staff are super friendly, and once a week they do an authentic Hawaiian musical night with wonderful talented Hulu women. Restraunts are every where including small cafes with free wifi

location, location, location!!! Our second visit in 4 years and it still is our favorite: for those of us who remember loading up the station wagon and a road trip for Summer vacation, this is our place. Imagine seeing "da local boys" waxing their surfboards from storage prior to walking 2 blocks to go surfing. That just doesn't happen at...

Me and my husband were walking on the streets and accidentally discovered this really charming, small paradise with cheaper prises for a room and studio, then the hostels nearby. Our first studio was on the 5th floor, with balcony, from where you could see the famous waikiki beach, and Debbie, the loveliest receptionist, we have ever seen, made everything possible...

What a delightful hotel. When you walk in you become relaxed right away. In the middle of honolulu they are like they are in the 1950's. The front desk personnel are friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is superbly clean and offer everything you need for a walk to the beach. They have a music night on Mondays that is...

Our room by the pool was very dark and small. Also 2 very large dead cockroaches under the dining table...not sure how housekeeping could have missed that. Nasty. I couldn't sleep knowing I could have them crawling all over! Yikes! No running hot water either and no wifi. Would give this place a pass.

We had a wonderful 10 days at the Grove. Staff is wonderful, so friendly and helpful. Our room was 'vintage' but clean and comfy. Really, really enjoyed the Monday night music Jam Session, the music and hula was so much Aloha. While there, Curtis, began cleaning and replanting some of the plants that surround the pool area, he was such...
