We just spent two nights at Big Trees lodge, and the charm of the old building and quiet grounds are lovely. However, because it is an historic property, be prepared to climb stairs for some rooms, and our room did not have a private bath. We had to use a toilet in the outdoor hallway, and the showers were two...

While the name has unfortunately changed, the stay at this historic hotel was even better than the last. We were warmly received by the desk clerk, Becky, and the outstanding accommodations were consistent during our two night stay there. It was like a step back in time and that is a good thing. No TV. The WiFi is relegated to...

Beautiful location just inside Yosemite on the south side. Well worth a visit. Have stayed here many times, never disappointed. Restaurant very good, too, for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Tom Bopp plays piano in the evenings--great atmosphere. Reasonably priced rooms, especially those with a shared bathroom.

Stayed at Big Trees For the second time in several years. It is like a step back in time. No phone, no tv, only one small lounge to get internet and in my case a shower and W C down the porch way. That being said, being off the grid is not bad when the piano player shows up in...

Antebellum feel, very relaxed and serene surroundings. We arrived in the evening driving straight from SFO airport, and we were given a very comfortable room at the edge of the property. Our room was one of those without an adjacent bathroom, and the communal bathroom is two short flights of stairs. Overall, it wasn't bad - bathrobes and towels were...

Big Trees is the new name for what used to be the Wawona Hotel which is a set of historic wooden buildings in the Yosemite park. This was our second visit, the first was a few years ago when it was still called the Wawona. This is a hotel you have to accept on its own terms, the buildings were...

Would have been nice if when we called to book, we were told it was not in the Valley. We specifically asked for a Hotel located there. Rooms were very nicely appointed, but I would suggest getting a room with your own bathroom. Also, do not have coolers or food in your vehicles as you have to trek it all...

Beautiful surroundings. Golf, horseback riding, stream. Very secluded. Not much city... 40 minute drive to city. get your own bathroom. Awkward to share bathroom for me. Very close to Yosemite valley.

Would probably have given five stars if the Mariposa Grove and the road to Glacier Point had been open (the hotel is part way between these two sights), since then it would be a wonderful hotel AND in a good location. However, since those were both closed (and I didn't realize this until weeks after I booked the hotel), it...

The rooms were unique, the hotel was intimate and personal, the restaurant and the staff were fabulous...honestly, I am really trying to think of something negative. I guess if you can't live without your TV, then that would be a negative. But not for us! We were on the hiking trail across the street that goes around the golf course...
