Sweetwater is a really nice camp inside Ol Pejeta conservancy. The rooms are very nice (some have a view to the water hole), the service is really friendly, a small but pretty pool and the restaurant is big and mostly have a buffet including Kenyan dishes or a barbeque. The highlight of the camp was the view to the water hole. It was absolutely spectacular as we saw black rhinos, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, many birds, zebras, giraffes and many antilopes from the view of the hotel. In the hotel itself we saw waterbucks, bushbucks and a hyrax. That was fantastic! From the camp you could book some tours like a chimpanzee sanctuary and understand the conservation of the almost extinct northern white rhinos (both really cool and informative). But there where also tours to see a blind rhino or a camel ride which made it more an American amusement park, instead of caring for animals. Sometimes the camp was a bit pushy for booking a tour, although we mostly wanted to see animals in the conservancy. We booked a safari for a week through Kenya and some tours were included (Chimpanzees and Northern white rhino). The only thing we booked were 2 night safaris, which were extremely cool. They were private with a guide and a driver. Over 2 drives we saw lions, hyenas, elephants, rhinos, antelopes, white tailed mongoose, bat eared foxes and many more. For me the absolute highlight was an aardvark!!! Overall the camp is really good and I would recommend it!

We stayed here for 1 night as part of an 8-day/7-night safari trip in Kenya with Meektrails Safaris. Location The location of the camp is well situated inside Ol Pejeta Conservancy along a drinking pool. The location is superb. The tents are conveniently located next to a drinking pool with excellent views on the park. We saw several wild animals (including rhinos) while sitting and relaxing in front of our tent. The camp and its gardens are very well maintained. Covid protocols When we arrived for the very first time at the camp our temperature was taken and we were instructed to wash our hands. All the staff were wearing a face mask properly. In the restaurant you were asked to wear a plastic glove when taking food at the buffet. People that didn’t take a plastic glove were quickly intercepted by staff instructing them to take a glove. We had the feeling that they really cared about the covid-regulations. Check In Check In went smoothly and was well organised with an extensive explanation of the camp. No long waiting times. A big thumbs up to Abdullah who was the porter who delivered our bags to/from the tent and who gave us an explanation of everything inside and outside our tent. A really friendly and smiley guy with an excellent level of customer service. Accomodation We stayed in a well equipped tent placed under a fixed roof. The tent was clean, well decorated and equipped with all modern comfort... though we lacked a mosquito net. In the evening, staff came and put a hot water bottle in the bed for extra warmth. Our tent was placed just some meters away from the drinking pool so we had excellent views on the wildlife while relaxing in front of the tent. They have a pool though it’s rather small. We didn’t use the pool as the weather was too cold to relax at the pool. Restaurant Breakfast, lunch and dinner were in a “buffet”-setup. Food was of a good and tasty quality with plenty of options being available. The female waiter in the restaurant was not very friendly and was sighing a lot while doing her work. Very disturbing! Our trainee waiter Bryan however was probably the friendliest and most customer oriented person we encountered during our stay in Kenya. He should be praised by the management for his customer service and attention to detail! We really enjoyed our stay at Sweetwaters Serena Camp and will most certainly recommend the place.

This was an excellent location for our time at Ol Pejeta. We had several enjoyable game drives in this area. The lodge itself was reasonably pleasant, but not 5-star-worthy. The tent we stayed in was in need of some minor repair work on zippers and netting, and the furniture is starting to get a little tired. In the dining area, the service was very friendly, but menu choices were rather ho-hum, and didn't include offerings of local cuisine. Also, for early-morning game drive participants, nothing was set out but coffee, tea, and very mediocre pound cake. Full breakfast available on return, of course, but a bit more at 6 AM would have been nice. If we return to Ol Pejeta, I will research alternatives.

For our final night before returning home we stayed here and what an experience it was. They were incredibly welcoming from arrival and even gave us an upgrade to a Morani wing tent which was exquisite. The attention to detail, dressing robe and slippers and furnishings made for a home from hole stay. The food was diverse and scrumptious and the views overlooking the plains were incredible. Within an hour of arriving we could already spot a rhino.
