If I am allowed to say only one word about this hotel, I would say "overhyped!" We naturally went to Golden Rock first and after enjoying sunset, climbed down to the hotel. There were no sign boards, not in English at least. The check out time is 9.00 am. Breakfast is served only during 6.00 to 9.00 am. So, our...

This was by far the best hotel in every way, fabulously friendly professional, caring and attentive staff in smart traditional uniforms! Set on the side of the mountain in lush gardens and surrounded by verdant forest with exquisite views of the Golden Rock Temple atop the mountain. The quite rooms were very spacious clean, neat, tidy and well maintained and...

The hotel is located on Mt Kyaikhtiyo - one of three hotels at the top. It is about 15 minutes walk from the golden rock. The day we arrived it took us nearly two hours from the foot hill to the mountain top. So, if you plan to spend the night in Kyaikhtiyo it is a good idea to stay...

After a 4.5hr, 7mile hike from the base camp at Kinpun, we checked in to this beautiful hotel. Yes, we know the hotel is situated in a setting of another 30-45mins walk uphill to the Kyaikhtiyo pagoda, and we absolutely love our sunset hike. Note, it is not an easy walk for everyone! The route to and from the pagoda...

To be fair - this place is not in a town, not even in a real village. The road up there is steep and narrow (11 km, making 1000 m in hight), and the 1000s of pilgrims are not a customer base that calls for luxury. This site has a different purpose. The rooms in the bungalow are simple, yet...

This hotel is fairly basic, but bearing in mind it's location, it's not surprising. The rooms are clean and tidy. You'll probably have to eat here too (as the hotel's remote). The dining experience is 'interesting'. Lots of waiting staff, desperate to please, (as is the case everywhere really). In the morning the views are amazing. I see some complaints...
