Detailed Reviews
We needed a break during these Covid-times, so decided to book a one-night stay at this hotel. We live only 6km from the hotel, but it felt like stepping into a completely different world. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and the environment is stunning. Our room was very spacious, and when we entered the room, the dining table was already set. The food and the accompanying wine were truly delicious and the staff made us feel very welcome. A carefree night out, just what we needed. We'll definitely be back soon!

Culinary enjoyment! The four of us were in Carelshaven from Friday 4/8 to Sunday 6/8. On Friday a 5-course dinner, extended with a cheese board and a good Port. On Saturday a 4-course dinner again expanded with a cheese board and a Port. We enjoyed both days so much. Every appetizer and dish was a party! What taste sensations! Perfect wines included (wine arrangement). The service was top notch and extremely friendly. We have really been pampered. The dishes were certainly “star-worthy” for us. Breakfast was also a treat. The rooms were well maintained and had good beds and pillows. Also coffee and bathrobes in the room, which is an extra luxury. This was our second time there and we would love to come back for a third time. We also enjoyed the surroundings and the walks around the Twickel estate.

The restaurant is affiliated with JRE so I expected a good meal. Certainly not disappointed. The food was delicious and the dessert in particular had a surprising taste.
The only criticism is the service.
It is slow and not attentive.
After the aperitif, we were not asked on our own initiative whether we were interested in a glass of wine or something else with dinner. Once the waiter caught the attention and ordered, "this is our house wine" was poured without tasting. Clock clock clock. There was also no choice of open wines offered, apparently the choice is house wine red or white.
It took a long time to remove empty plates and aperitif glasses. And when ordering the coffee, we seriously wondered whether they had traveled to Brazil to pick the coffee beans fresh, given the waiting time.
Normally it's not a huge deal but we still had to drive a long way home.

Nice rooms. But mediocre breakfast. You should ask for supplementation of breakfast. From 8 am vacuum cleaners through the hallway where you trip over, operation on weekends very reserved and remote. Almost like the unfriendly. Not for repetition. The hotel bar closed at 11 o'clock in the evening. No refrigerator in the room. Upon arrival you get a paper bag containing your toiletries, but also your food such as coffee, tea, sugar and peanut,s . Special combination.

Next to a bussy road... This is not shown on their site. So we felt disappointed.
Our room overlooked the bussy road. Luckely Corona curfew stopped main trafic from 21:00 onwards.
Our beds and pillows were hard, so sleeping was difficult. The room was hot and the temprature very difficult to regulate = eather on or off.
The food and the breakfast is good and staff is very nice.

I would 100% not recommend this hotel booked a room we were at the hotel before reception was supposed to close for check-in. No one was there. We had to sleep in our car and then the hotel in the morning completely lied and said they were open and they had made calls to us, they still charged us.
do not trust this Hotel they are liars!!!!

Our room was poorly cleaned (rubbish on the floor, peanuts under the bed)
Woodwork of doors and frames are in urgent need of a cleanup, dirty with stains. Woodwork urgently needs a paint job. Railing to floor turned out to be grease and is therefore not cleaned every day.
Maintenance is also poor (badly continuous sink). At check out there was another guest who also complained about the bathroom. Wonder if management ever checks the rooms before a new guest arrives. The bag you get when booking in (with the inscription of Berkel hospitaly) appears to contain two small tubes of soap that should normally already be in the bathroom, furthermore two coffee capsules and two bags of tea (apparently the guest does not deserve more!) and a small bag of peanuts (unknown for what because there is not a bottle of liquor in the room. No mini bar). In short, there are things to improve on interior design and management guidance.

What a nice, quiet location this is for a pleasant stay. We were there for 2 days. The hospitality/hospitality of the staff, really gave us a warm welcome throughout our stay. On site we received a carefully compiled information package about walking/cycling routes in the area, which is highly recommended if you want to enjoy the Twente country with historic towns or surroundings.
The food in the attractive restaurant is also highly recommended, not to mention a very nice wine list! If you would like to enjoy an aperitif before or after dinner, you can do so in the cozy but cozy bar of the hotel.
The stay in the room is fantastic! Quiet, spacious, wonderful shower and good beds. We woke up rested and then had an honest breakfast with Twickelse cheese, which I had never eaten before. But we already know that we will definitely be back.

Great place to stay. The rooms are very warm, there is no air conditioning in the room. The room itself is somewhat dated. Nice breakfast, nice weather also sitting outside. You can rent a good bike here for 15 euros per day. Friendly and helpful staff.

We have been with a group of friends 2 nights in Carelshaven. It was great in one word. The preparations with Sietske and Pien were very nice, they think along and are very flexible in adjustments of the reservations. The staff is really there for you. Dinner is top notch: delicious and so beautifully made up, all pictures.
We all enjoyed it and many of us will definitely be back!
