My Dutch boyfriend booked this place for us to stay during my visit. From the way you get to the actual lodging, to the access to the control center and outside deck, you know you are in for a one-of-a-kind stay. We were there on a very cold, foggy day, so we couldn't see the beautiful vistas you normally see...

We spent a night in the lighthouse and it was one of the best experiences ever. Receiving the key and being the sole owner for 24 hours was magical. We were lucky with the weather, enjoyed the beautiful view with a great sunset and sunrise. And at night there was a massive rain shower which was awesome while staying there.

My partner and I stayed for one night in this amazing little B&B. Guests have the entire crane to themselves, which includes a main bedroom/lounge area, a large two person shower, a toilet cubicle, comfy revolving chairs, fabulous windows, an amazing views, an outside deck and a kitchen area. The best bit is the control room, sitting in which, guests...

For my husband, this was the highlight of our entire trip to Europe! The crane is something that must be experienced to be believed. You'll pony up a lot of Euros for the experience, but it's worth it. Every detail is well-thought-out and engineered, from the incredible elevator tube like something out of Star Trek to the room control panel...

I had to book nearly 2 years in advance to get the exact date of my husband's 50th birthday. I was worth every penny and the long wait. As others have described, this is a unique and extraodinary hotel, where high tech meets old tech in a perfect marriage. It's not cheap but the price reflects the quality of the...

It took a long wait to get our hands on a night in the crane, but boy was it worth it ! Since I suffer from mild claustrophobia, particularly in elevators, I was a little apprehensive when I saw how the crane was accessed. However, in the event it wasn't bad at all, there's a short ride in an elevator...

This exceeded all expectations - a wonderful idea brought to fruitation in a wonderful way. The lift system is amazing, though possibly worrying for the claustrophobic. The room itself is very well-equipped, with touchscreen climate and lighting control - a choice of five different lighting combinations for the double shower alone! The bed is large and comfortable and the HD...

Firstly hats off to the person who with his team had the vision and dedication to carry out this project and to such a high standard. My wife and I stayed for two nights end of July 2008 and thought it wonderful. Sitting on the top deck drinking Champagne watching the busy comings and goings of the boats was bliss,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Special stay in a Harbourcrane It's easy to find the Harlingen Harbour Crane. All you have to do is look for the Crane's high legs standing almost in the Wadden Sea yet only a stone's throw from the centre of historic Harlingen. Staying the night in a Harbour Crane? We'll bet you've never dreamt of that! A unique experience We have applied to the Harlingen Harbour Crane all the knowledge and experience gained from working on the Lighthouse and the Lifeboat. It is here that the unassailable elevation of a lighthouse merges with the freedom of living on the water. And to top it all off, you get to do something unbelievable: you can have the crane swing into action! ... more   less
