What a wonderful spot... Greeted with a welcoming note pinned to the door and a large friendly cat... And what a great little place - not that little actually! John came and gave us some info and then we had excellent privacy. Very easy to drive into town from here. All in all an excellent spot and the hayloft itself... More

Wanaka is an excellent base all year round for skiing, hiking and adventure activities in the area. The Haylof is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the many options that the area offers - just make sure you book long enough as it is hard to leave. This was a truly lovely and peaceful location but still not far from the Lake. The apartment is upstairs with its own entrance and has a separate lounge with balcony, (fab views out to mountains) kitchen area with everything you need as provisions for breakfast were provided and were delicious. Double bedroom with another balcony looking the other direction, mainly... More

This is a charming apartment with beautiful views from both the east- and west- facing balconies. John was warm, welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. He left us delicious and thoughtfully selected ingredients for a self-cooked breakfast. Interesting to learn about straw houses (which this is), and asthetically-minded guests will appreciate the beautiful colors of the interior walls. Very quiet,... More

We planned to stay two nights; we stayed four. A perfect retreat for a small family in a self contained apartment with stunning views just minutes (by car) from central Wanaka. John and Julie were both very welcoming, provided some excellent advice on where to spend our days walking and could not have been more helpful. Highly recommended and probably... More

We had a wonderful short stay at the Hayloft in February this year. The apartment is really well furnished, with individual touches which make all the difference. John and Julie were fantastic, knowledgeable hosts, who went out of their way to make our stay hugely enjoyable. And the 2 balconies meant that we could have both breakfast and evening meals... We like our holidays quiet, peaceful and low-key with plenty of skiing; The Hayloft in Wanaka was perfect. John and Julie intuitively balance a sense of privacy and space with being social. They came across as being very welcoming and generous and willing to do virtually anything to make your stay a pleasant one. John is very knowledgeable of the... More

Stayed at The Hayloft for a 3-night break in September and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The apartment is clean, cosy, very comfortable and well-equipped. The views from the balconies are just wonderful. The hosts are incredibly hospitable and friendly, but in no way intrusive. They gave us some great advice and suggestions about walks to do in the surrounding... More
