Spent two very enjoyable days at this lovely hotel. Drew and Matthew were first class and they exceeded our expectations at all times... nothing was too much effort and they delivered exceptional service with friendliness and warmth. Well done.

We stayed there with friends on a Saturday night on our way to Gigha ( room no 7 with loch view & room 9), There is a variety of public rooms on the ground floor and we enjoyed the sun lounge before and after dinner. Our room no 9 was in a pleasant decorative order. Small(ish), but then the house...

Visited here last night after reserving a table in the bar, I had informed the hotel that we would have our dog Sam with us. On arrival made to feel very welcome and had a table opposite the bar which even had a little plate of doggie treats on it. Staff where very friendly and one young chap in particular...

Husband and I and two dogs made very welcome after a long journey. Room was small but very comfortable. Food was a real highlight - had to have the smoked haddock both nights - really excellent. Breakfast was equally good with great choice. We explored the area but it was lovely to retreat to the lounge and bar when the...

I was in Tarbert as part of my work & didn't know what to expect. West Loch Hotel made me feel very much at home. The staff in the hotel could not do enough for me. I was nightshift at the ambulance station so asked me if a room at the back of the hotel would be more suitable and...

We arrived here having been disappointed by many hostelries refusing us access because of our dogs. We wanted lunch.and we were directed to this lovely quirky hotel just 5 minutes from Tarbert. Not only were we and our Westie and Tibetan Terrier made welcome but we felt part of the owners/staff family. If you want a posh hotel where service...

This is a smart comfortable hotel run by proffesionals. We satayed as part or our Islay tour, and very glad we did. the rooms were bright, clean and comfortable. But it is the restaurant and bar that shines here, really great food, inventive and beautifully cooked and presented. The bar that is top notch, very well equipped with a fantastic...

Been to the West Loch a few times now and the service is very friendly (thanks for the extra large coffee cup and cheeky wine with dinner), food is excellent every time just a good place to go to after a difficult day at work and when the weather is good the views out to the West Loch are great!

Set on a wonderful location overlooking Loch Fyne this hotel has potential. The food provided for our family get together was absolutely spectacular and the Chef and team should be very proud of this achievement. Breakfast was of the same standard. Our only let down was the standard of bed in room 7 as we had very little sleep due...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A small, family-run establishment, the West Loch Hotel dates from around 1780, and is well known locally for having some of the best food in the area. We are well placed for guests passing through, and for those wishing to spend longer in the area, exploring Argyll & the Isles. Ideally located for people heading on the whisky trail to Islay (just minutes from the ferry), most guests find our large whisky selection the perfect start to their adventure! A charming, former coaching inn, the hotel has been sympathetically modernised over the years, retaining many of its original features. Our rooms are dog-friendly, with a choice of double or single rooms, and we have also got family rooms available for those travelling with children. Able to cater for small events, from birthday parties to weddings, we always go the extra mile to make sure your special occasion is extra special. ... more   less
