This was my boyfriend and I's first time to Holbox and could not have had a better experience at Villa Flamingos. Aurelio, from the hotel restaurant truly made our trip, as he gave us his personal tips on what to do around the island.
This was my 12th trip to Isla Holbox, and while the island is no longer undiscovered, it is still a lovely restful place to visit. My friend and I have stayed at Villas Flamingos 10 times and we still love it. The owner Alejandro Canedo,...More
This was our tenth trip to Isla Holbox. In the past three years the population has exploded! If one was to walk in the center of town in the middle of the day three years ago, you would be the only thing moving. Now the...More
We spent one week here, a good first floor room overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, idyllic!
Friendly, pleasant staff serving GOOD cocktails & good food. Pancho & his ladies were very entertaining (iguanas). Easy trip into town, walk or golf carts.
Because Holbox island is a bit of a "Planes, Trains, and Ferry" destination, it remains a under "developed" gem of a relaxation beach vacation. The unique location of the barrier island on the North Yucatan Peninsula provides a fabulous beach experience. The morning out tide...More

In Isla Holbox many of the hotels do not have lounge chairs right on the beach as there is a road separating the hotels from the beach. But this hotel is at the end of the road and has loads of spots on the beach. Great food and the patio at night is the stuff of magazines. Enjoy! Holbox is very special place.

Yes, we did experience some mosquitoes. If I remember correctly the windows do have screens. We also love the sounds and feeling of windows open at night. We've only been to Holbox that one time, so I don't know what it would be like in February. But even with the mosquitoes, I definitely recommend going. Villas Flamingos and many local businesses provided free mosquito protection. The water was so warm, clear, and calm! And the village is full of beautiful, friendly people.
Sorry for the delayed response! I have been in Nicaragua, for the last week and a half. (Which I also highly recommend!) I hope this helps!
