Jasbeth from reception was an amazing help to our trip. She helped with everything and even booked us the trip out of hotel when we needed to leave. She is a top grade concierge and all round superwoman. Alejandro the sous chef was also amazingly helpful and the food that he prepared on Cuban night( Saturday nights) was incredible. He...

Returned from Casa Sandra last week and was quite disappointed. We had stayed there 18 months prior and enjoyed everything but time has changed. Pretty much everyone we met our first visit had left, leaving the service marginal and certainly not dependable. The staff walks around with frowns their face. The room we had showed a lot of wear, toilet...

Dear Illaskidmore, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We regret hearing your second experience at CasaSandra was not as charming as the first. We have passed on your comments to management and we have started fixing maintenance issues. Also, our staff is constantly undergoing training to ensure the service is top notch. We hope that you...

Upon arriving at the footsteps of CasaSandra, it is already apparent that you have arrived at the most sophisticated and elegant of the island's offerings. A boardwalk from the street, facing the beach, and hovering over white sand, flanked by minimalistic daybeds and well-placed (and beautifully colored) Mexican hammocks, set the tone for one's stay. This is only enhanced upon...

I booked a king ocean suite with bath tub but got the ole bait and switch as our room was not available. They tried to convince us to stay in a much smaller double room but we declined. Ended up with a garden king for the same price, though we weren't thrilled with feeling tricked. Worst part was there was...

Dear Sigrideilertson, Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We regret to hear you feel this way, as we did compensate you for the troubles with the electricity. We did not charge you at all for the room or what you consumed for those 2 days. We also gave you choices to change for 2 different rooms....

Loved everything about CasaSandra and Holbox. The hotel is very comfortable and charming. Small, maybe 17 rooms. The food is delicious, from the included breakfast, fish tacos on the beach for lunch, Margaritas in the late afternoon, and dinner on the veranda in the evening. The staff is very friendly and always helpful. And there is nothing to do, except...

We stayed for 4 nights at the end of Feb. While this is a high end property do NOT expect anything other than smiles and excuses. We did not have hot water for 2 nights, there was sand in our bed upon arrival and there were no beach chairs available to us, and the overall service was extremely sub-standard. The...

My husband and I recently spent four days at Casa Sandra. The property is low key and the staff welcoming, helpful and a pleasure to converse with. Our ocean front suite was tastefully decorated and was spacious as well. The pool area is heavenly, though we spent our days on the beach. A great stay at this artistic boutique hotel...

This is a beautiful real boutique hotel on the glorious 'island' of Holbox. A 5 minute walk from the centre of the 'town' along a sandy road (there are no cars on Holbox - only motorised golf buggies) you find yourself in this wonderfully taste fun oasis. We had a room overlooking the sea (very comfortable if smallish bathroom) so...

The hotel is by far the most elegant of the island, but it doesn't feel over -the-top luxurious. It's small, and elegant. The perfect boutique hotel. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
For a long time owner, Sandra, wanted to write by the sea. She went in search of a remote world, quiet, where the blue was obvious. One day, she landed in Cancun and the attraction of the Mayan land was overwhelming. She took a small plane and flew over the island of Holbox.Nothing was more attractive to her than the Feast of the colors of nature, barefoot fishermen with their gold teeth, women weaving hammocks or sheathed with their heels in the sand. "I want to do something here, " she said and began to imagine in her head this project now called "the hotel with a human touch" on this very beach. The land of more than 150 species of birds, whale shark, or Damero world's largest fish, mangroves in each corner, all were an inspiration to this artist. Then she wanted to welcome friends from around the world and to express, through a hotel on the island of Holbox, a point of view on life: "peace and art are a great treasure for humans. " Because of this she thought of a place that is romantic, sexy, creative, where the personalized, warm, rustic atmosphere in a luxurious twenty rooms that look to the sea, where one could meet the privacy and whims of its guests. All done out of love and passion. The same place where one can dream and create, and in the best case, where one can rest. The joy of giving and expressing a new way of caring for guests, has been the commitment of the hotel. Every detail has a reason: from the small art gallery with paintings by renowned artists to the beautiful furniture that inhabit the halls.Feelings, emotions, poetry, touches of color, aromas of black coffee, hammocks, fabric on the balconies, fluffy sheets, the sea at every angle, and romantic evenings create the magic of the "place of your dreams." ... more   less
