What an adventure. Certainly out of the ordinary. We loved the rustic charm of this place and didn't mind tiptoeing outside to the bathroom. We had 2 good nights sleep, it was so quiet and the stars were beautiful it was so dark. Also loved our own personal glow worm grotto.

We've just got back home having spent two wonderful days at Te Tiro, a warm inviting location if a little out of the way. This place was just up our street, out of the way, quiet, basic and homely. Rachel and Angus the owners are such lovely people, unfortunately Rachel was having an operation so we only met Angus in...

Many reviewers love this place but not me. The views are incredible. The cabins are in the middle of nowhere. The bathrooms are detached from the sleeping cabin - as in you have to go outside. You need to eat dinner before you get there or bring your own food. The breakfast they supplied was some cereal, some slices of...

A lovely little cottage (we were in cottage 2) in the middle of nowhere with views to die for. The host Rachel and her mum were really helpful and pointed out where things were and left us to our own devices in the glorious peace and quiet. We wished we could have stayed for a few days rather than the...

Such an incredible place and views. Cannot say enough good about this place. Warm welcomes, comfortable accommodation, and stunning atmosphere. I hope to get to return, for much more time! Loved meeting Rachel and their pets Puck and Ratbag. Ratbag was super cuddly in the morning, but I suspect he was after toast. .. This place is a true hidden...

I chose Te Tiro for it's uniqueness and was not disappointed! The view from the porch was as amazing as pictured and the on-site glowworm cave was so special- we had a great tour with Spellbound earlier in the day, but to be able to have the time to attempt to capture the worms on camera was even better. Hint:...

It is all that it is. Remote rural wooden building with separate bathroom. No wifi, phone etc. Small kitchen - external BBQ. Stunning location with great views & own glow worm area 2 minutes away by foot. Good walks available (if weather permits) Owners very accommodating. Weather awful on our stay which has nothing to do with the property!

You feel as though you are at the top of the world sitting on the deck of these quaint cottages. Our two boys loved the loft beds. Angus and Rachel were such great hosts who took e time to sit and chat with us and fill us in on the history of the property and the different cave options. They...

We stayed here for two nights while we did a few activities in the Waitomo area. We absolutely loved it here and had a great time. The property is fantastic and consists of farmland and native forest with a number of relatively short hiking trails that are well marked and take you through tree ferns and other forest. The mixed...

Stayed here for one night in December 2015. The accommodation is a bit off the beaten track, around 9km from Waitomo caves. However, it is worth the drive as it is completely isolated and so tranquil. Waking up eating your breakfast on the balcony overlooking mountains is brilliant. Large breakfast supplied in the room. Would definitely recommend.

“Te Tiro is located about 15 mins out of the town centre along a winding road - it is best to find it during daylight - the owners will give you good directions either way”

“Both cabins are the same. Be aware that they are small and the bathrooms are separate but very close by. Do not expect luxurious but come with a sense of adventure. It was difficult to take good photos of the interior of the cabins but there are good ones on the website.”
