I don’t have an expectation going into this resort as this is my first luxury collection hotel under the Marriott Bonvoy program. However the stay at Al Maha definitely has been my favourite part about visiting UAE. Our end-to-end experience: 1. Driving into the dessert feels unreal, everything is fenced off so I almost feel like we are entering into restricted areas until we learn it is a conservation park for the oryx as they are endangered and almost extinct without Al Maha. 2. Staff and field guides were absolutely amazing! They are so easy to talk to and very accommodating! I am not good with names but everyone there is nice and friendly and makes sure your stay is as enjoyable as possible. 3. The room will take your breath away if coming into the resort hasn’t already which surprise surprise. It gets better as you go! The room is built like a tent to embrace and celebrate the Bedouin history. Don’t get turned off by tent yet because it will be the most beautiful and well equipped tent you will ever stay in probably in your life time. Every room comes with AC, a bigger than king size bed, TV, full-suite bathroom, private swimming pool and amazing view to the desert. Surprise guests will visit your balcony/backyard, aka Gazelles and many many birds. We had the opportunity to see Gazelles all around the resort and birds drinking from our private swimming pool :) 4. The food! Sri Lanka dinner is a MUST TRY!!! Everything is all inclusive except for alcohols I believe. This is probably the best all inclusive resort I have ever been to. From breakfast to lunch to dinner, you will be enjoy every single one of your meal and treated by the most friendly staff ever! We didn’t get to try the Arabian dinner but from the Arabian menu offering in the breakfast, lunch, and dinner I would expect nothing but amazing dinner so def try it if you can. 5. The weather: it’s HOT! If you wonder why the activity starts from 5:30AM, it’s because it gets too hot during the day. We usually wake up early for morning activities and enjoy breakfast and goes back to the room to take a nap. You can enjoy the private swimming pool but it will be too hot from 11am to 5pm in my opinion. However, the pool temperature can be set to hotter and cooler for your preference and staff will come help you set it up and clean your pool as per requested. Afternoon activists and dinner will be more enjoyable, so we usually order room service for lunch (which is also free of charge) 6. The private swimming pool has to get a special shout-out! We went to the Maldives after our trip to the UAE so I am biased to say having a private swimming pool is the best part about any resort. But the one in Al Maha is extra special. Not only you get a view of the desert, you also have the option to change the temperature of the water like I mentioned above. I think I almost left out the beauty of the design and how photo-genetic the pool is. We took many photos and each and every single one of them looks like they are from a travel magazine. IT’s that beautiful! 7. Wifi has been amazing, we have no problem connecting to the wifi all over the resort, even sometimes out in the desert :) but I would recommend disconnect and really enjoy the surrounding as it is probably once in a life time experience, at least for me. 8. The activities were all free-of charge expect for horse-back riding I believe, but it is absolutely amazing and must do when you are staying at Al Maha! All the field guides were extremely knowledgeable and will answer all your questions to make sure you get the full experience. My partner had a naughty camel and unexpectedly tried to sit down when my partner had just got on the camel. It was horrifying as this is our first time camel riding or even horseback riding. However the staff was so nice and attentive for the whole duration of our stay. We were checked upon daily to make sure the incident hasn’t affected our health or the pleasure of our stay, needless to say it didn’t affect our trip thank god. But lucky to have an amazing team to look after you for all the activities. Things we did: - Camel ride (amazing opportunity would recommend for adults and older kids, would not recommend for elderly as it could be bumpy) - Nature walk (highly recommend if you want to learn about the dessert and the land that makes Al Maha such a one of a kind place on earth) - Wildlife drive (highly recommend because you will see Oryx and Gazelle up close and understand their living habits and hopefully do a little dune bashing as it is not longer available until further notice) - Falcons (not my personal favourites but you will get to see a variety of birds flying and learn about their behaviours and history) Overall experience: 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you are visiting Dubai. Don’t miss out this gem in the desert!…
This resort is unique in many ways.. beautiful rooms, amazing desert location, interesting activities.. all fantastic. What makes this resort special is the staff. They are unfailingly welcoming, helpful and superbly trained. They absolutely go the extra mile for guests. I want to mention the dining room staff who were all excellent.. Prakash the manager who made sure we had the meals dinners we wanted(be aware that you can request off menu items).. Tracy, Yasuda, Catherine and Ashok.. Thank you! Housekeeping staff were also great. The rooms are in different locations.. some much closer to the lobby and dining room, with varying views. No matter how far you are from the lobby, the staff will pick you up in a golf cart . We walked most of the time so we could see the wildlife .. mostly gazelles. Do not miss the bird experience and ask to go back and see the birds that are not brought out for the show. Very interesting. The only thing that made our stay less than wonderful was the weather.. something the resort has no control over. It was insanely hot. We would love to come back in January..…
Stayed 5 nights in this amazing resort, almost cried when had to leave. Everything is absolutely stunning, view from villa , wildlife around, accommodation, service, food and activities. Felt like celebrities with all this attention from everyone. Many thanks to all the staff making our wedding anniversary so special especially Shahzab, Winnie , Srini and the star of this resort , Piotr, the executive chef , for his creativity and quality of food fit for the royals
Absolutely stunning from beginning to end. Customer service, staff are exceptional. Warm, welcoming, knowledgeable. Location is simply beautiful, accommodation is sumptuous and luxurious and way beyond what I was expecting. Food was very good, particularly breakfast and lunch. I can't say any more. If I could give a higher rating I would. Worth every penny.
Our visit to Al Maha far exceeded our expectations! We booked a 2-day stay and it was the perfect getaway. The resort is secluded on a nature preserve and with the activities available, you get to experience some incredible interaction with the desert landscape in a safe, supervised environment. What’s not to love about the luxuriously appointed suites and private soaking pools? Every detail about the accommodations are thoughtfully designed. The wrap-around shaded decks are perfect for observing the vast desert landscape and relaxing. The inclusive food was great- there’s definitely something for everyone as I’m a picky eater. But the best thing we loved about Al Maha was partaking in the desert activities. Our guide Pubudu was incredible and gave comprehensive and informative insight during all of our activities. The falcon show was wonderful and the nature drive and walk we took with him were top-notch. His insight really helped us to better understand the delicate desert eco system and we left with a much better understanding of the area. Well done Pubudu- you rocked! Overall, our stay at Al Maha was a dream and everyone on the staff was so pleasant and polite. It really felt like a restorative and restful vacation all around and I would love to come back someday.…
If you are reading this I assume you are considering a visit - stop reading and book yourself in RIGHT NOW. I'm not going to go into the exact details like I try to do on my other reviews - you need to experience Al Maha for yourself as the whole stay will be extremely personalized. All I want to say here is thank you Loraine for your warm welcome and orientation, thank you Marlene and Michelle for the fun and informative tours, and THANK YOU to the entire Al Maha team for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Speaking of which, I'll be sure to make it at least "twice-in-a-lifetime" next time I'm in the UAE, and I genuinely can't wait for my next trip although I only checked out a week ago.
Al Maha was a heavenly experience. The room was spacious and comfortable, the food was delicious, fresh and healthy, and the staff was the nicest, most flexible in the world. The staff at Al Maha truly goes above and beyond to make the stay unforgettable. I would remiss not to list all the amazing people below: Thank you to Tracy, Babu, Ariel, Imran, Anjal, Prakash, Lorain, Krishna and Catherine for their kindness, service and support during our stay. Thank you Durshan and Ashok for going above and beyond with amazing iced coffees and hospitality. Thank you to Kester for the archery, wildlife lessons, dune driving and desert knowledge. Thank you to Liam, Michelle and Keagan for the nature walks, falconry and camel rides. Thank you to Anwar for always giving us our favorite camel to ride and for your kindness! And finally thank you to Irfan for helping us get the room of our dreams. We had so much fun and appreciate all your hard work! ~Joy and Lucas…
Absolute luxury in a beautiful oasis in the dessert. The villa was gorgeous and very clean with big infinity pool and great view over dessert. The king size bed was comfortable and huge. The bathroom needs a face lift. We enjoyed lazing on our deck, watching the day unfold and the gazelles come and go. The food was outstanding. Generous portions and always cooked to perfection. The restaurant staff are super well traind and profitional. Thanks to Animesh, Babu, Yasuda and and super special mention to the polite gentleman Mr. Rochak for incredible service, well done!
Don’t bother with the reviews, all they have is locations and the food, if anything happens throughout during the activities you are on your own, check the tripadvisors and google review to see those who fell on horseback riding and such!!! My wife’s got injured when camel caretaker just rushing everyone onto the camels and hurried back to the resort!!! 3rd party or not Al Maha should treat this seriously!!! And when taking the camel trip, don’t choose Tahir, who was impatient and rude and caused my wife’s injury! When checking in, was asked to sign 2 papers, I specifically asked twice inquire about the extra and different one than other hotels, which got 2 words reply, “for activity” and no they didn’t follow up, and they didn’t check up on you for well-being. Not so good reviews all got generic responses, very well done!!…
Al Maha resort and spa, stands as a star and the perfect example of how luxury hospitality service is meant to be!!! while hundreds of other luxury resorts need to redifine… with just 42 suites, spread in the oasis, one can enjoy peace, privacy, at same time, full attention, luxury vacation. coming from Maldives with mixed emotions, entering the Al Maha resort was like a dream, cool, calming atmosphere and so friendly and professional staff!!! I had checked reviews and videos before, but nobody and nothing could prepare me for this Ultimate experience!!! we’re a couple naturalists, and reason we chose Al Maha was for the concept of preservation, support to nature. we couldn’t imagine experience so much luxury and fan activities in the desert. everything is designed and executed to perfection! !! welcome room, drink, the arabic coffee, but most important our concierges Rochan and Winnie, our activities guide Kester were perfect, made us feel entering in another world, of relaxation and the same time fun activities, the excellent arabic hospitality!!! as an ex SPG couple, now Marriott loyal, we couldn’t believe how this luxury boutique resort, is included in Marriott hotels, welcome marriott elites and treat accordingly, seriously haven’t had this experience the last 3 years. lots of Activities and Excellent food and service, full board, all included, no extra charges or butlers pushing reservations… hmm all we paid was alcoholic drinks and tips, nothing else. next surprise was our suite, facing not just the desert, but, plus, the water pod where animals and birds visiting constantly, and the camel riding parking spot, just 3 mins walk to the spa, gym and main pool. Yes, even first time guests, we were given the suite requested, if this isn’t great coustomer service!!!! what? everyone, everyone from the front desk, the buggy guys, housekeeping, the activities team, the camels guides, all were so friendly, polite and helpful, constantly asking if we need anything. even the gardeners, working under this heat, were kind enough to stand and answer our questions on “what is this plant” or why are you pruning the palm tree…??? we made new friends, listened to stories from guests visiting Al Maha for 10+ years , employees working there since the opening day … Wow, having a short experience in hospitality myself, I understand that all these aren’t just happening, is the results of the great skills, hard work, of the Person who Envisioned this “oasis”, the place, where both animals and humans can call “home, sweet home”. Planet Earth. GM: greetings and Congrats to the GM Arne Silvis!!! came to meet in person, we highly appreciate asking if how could we ask for anything, everything is perfect.… Last, most important, Srini, the F&B manager, many many thnx!!! I will write another long review for you and the team!!! Originally booked 5 nights, but only stayed for 4 (due to USA canceled flights), but God willing, next time, will be minimum 2 weeks. If anyone never had a hot air balloon flight, I recommend, not included in Al Maha free activities, we had camels rides before, but this was so great, we did twice.. One last thing get prepared for early rise, 4 am, take afternoon naps, Staying at Al Maha resort and spa, isn’t just nice luxury vacation, is a Lifetime experience… Flawless!!!…
