Let’s begin by giving some context, my girlfriend and I prefer to stay in Marriott hotels whenever or wherever we travel to. This hotel is listed under the Marriott brand and is present on the Marriott official website as well (check picture below). We booked directly via the hotel’s website for 3 nights and 4 days (21/04 - 24/04). After getting a reservation confirmation we were told that they are not under Marriott yet (Still don’t understand why is it on the website then). Anyway we decided never mind we can stay no matter what. We reached the hotel at 7 in the evening (check-in time is 3 in the afternoon, remember this for later). When we got down from the cab there was not a single person (not even security) to greet us and take our luggage. We dragged our own luggage to the (very hard to find) reception. There were 2 staff at the reception. We saw a cat running around in the lobby (Don’t get me wrong, I love cats, but I didn’t expect to see one running around in the reception of a “five star” hotel). We checked in and went to our room. The room had a smell which i can only describe as an “old thing smell”. Anyway we thought this would be the end of the misery and we could finally relax. We didn’t unpack our bags as we were hungry, so we went out to eat. We came back and my girlfriend decided to use the plunge tub in the balcony (the balcony railing were rusted, dusty and the tub was leaking). When she was almost done she asked me for a towel. I went to get one and guess what? There were no towels in the room (remember that check in time was 3 in the afternoon and we check in at 7 in the evening and now it was about 9 in the night). I called for towels to be sent and I also asked for two extra pillows and two bottles of water. After 40 minutes yes 40 minutes the security guard showed up with 2 pillows, yes the security guard, not a housekeeping staff. I called again and said that I only got the pillows and the lady at the reception said “oh really? You didn’t get the other things? He didn’t bring it?”. Anyway, after about 15 minutes the towels and the water showed up. We thought our bad luck was over and finally we can stretch our legs and sleep. We went to bed at around 11 and in about 10 minutes the electricity went out. Now you would expect that a hotel like this would have back up power but no. After 5 minutes I went out of my room to see that the power was gone only in my room and the next room. I went to the reception furious and complained they said they’ll send someone to fix it. Guess who they sent? The same security guard from earlier. He was trying to fix the electricity while my girlfriend and I were sitting at the reception. I could not take it anymore and asked the receptionist if we could check out the next day and get a refund for the other two nights. After clicking and typing on her computer she said that she can only tell me whether I’m “allowed” to check out the next day when the reservation department opens. She said she would move me to a different room for the night. She said she’ll come to take our bags and take me to the new room. We went up to our room packed whatever we had taken out and waited 20 minutes in the dark, hot room waiting for the key of the new room (she didn’t even tell us the room number). After that the ever present security guard showed up with the keys to the new room. Unfortunately and expectedly the new room was in similar condition as the old one but at least this one had towels. We went to sleep, next morning the breakfast buffet was below average. We went to the reception and they said we can check out and they’ll refund us for the two nights. Highly unprofessional, bad service, needs renovation, staff training, and an overall upgrade to everything in this property.

We booked a super deluxe room, which is one super king bed and a small room with a sofa type bed in it (we used as dressing room and storage) Room was very modern and overall we liked it, good view and balcony with a bath on it. We like other guests had a awkward time at check in having to wait till after 3pm for our room, whist other guests we spoke to where given their rooms when they arrived (from 12 onwards).

I don t really write reviews but I am happy to do this for Lone Pine during our recent stay on Feb 20-21,2023 The room was v large n spacious n there was adequate space for luggage bags , numerous hanging bars for our clothes My husband loves the v nice n spacious balcony with comfy seats, large bright cushions and there is an excellent outdoor bath tub with hot water for soaking tired bodies n tired feet. V unique n practical feature. Many other hotels have balconies that are not usable...so this is definitely a plus! The bathroom was v well designed n aesthetically pleasant n practical. Not an easy feat. Plenty of space for toiletries … wide place for showering n the best part - water is kept in with well designed kerbs. Many other hotels don’t seem to be able to get this part right - with lots of water splashes outside the shower area. This may be pretty basic - but like I said...many hotels do not get this right! The bathroom tiles are modern n importantly non slippery and remarkably not cold to the touch. There are quite a few large round n big mirrors with bright lighting for easy makeup n the open clothes cabinet just opposite the bath mirror is so practical n cleverly designed. The hanging sliding doors dividing room from bathroom as well as bath shower door slide well n quietly - another well designed feature. It looks classy. The night lights operate with jus one switch n the bathroom light is turned on simultaneously. No stumbling around when one wakes up to go the bathroom at night. A good sleep is very important and here again, Lone Pine does not disappoint. A plus for a big bed which comes with a firm n snug mattress n the long fluffy pillows have the right balance of firmness n softness - they feel super super clean and comfortable. Excellent ! Place looks n feels clean n bright- gd jobs by the chamber helpers. Large TV screen - another plus. We give Lone Pine 10 out of 10 for room design n comfort. Well done!

Unfortunately this Hotel is Showing its age. Not 100% clean it has lost it's sparkle. Pool was full of pine needles every day. No trash bins around the pool. No tea spoons at breakfast. One morning the table cloths for breakfast were dirty. I told the main guy in the breakfast room & he was very apologetic & attended to it immediately. Airport pick up I expected a car but a mini van was sent. Driver was fine no problem with him. Problem was my wife has a injured knee & finds it difficult to get into a van. Staff very good, nice and friendly. Not good value for the money. Very disappointing..

It is our first family trip after the pandemic. Lone Pine was a good choice as they have nice big rooms. The staff are also very nice. The hotel has a lot of spaces that makes us feel relaxed. The picnic was a good experience as well.

We spent five nights at the Lone Pine and we are very sorry to have to say that we regret it :( When we arrived, on a Saturday afternoon of a long weekend (we didn’t know that), the noise from the public beach and the so-called watersports were very loud and distracting and we wished that it would be more quiet during the week. It wasn’t… jetskis and other boats can be heard roaring from 8h30 in the morning until the sunset during the week as well and people playing or hanging on the beach can also be heard at any moment. This kind of development is probably of the liking of the majority of the clientele but for us the constant noise was a very big issue. On the good side, and I want to put emphasis on that point, all the members of the personnel are very nice and eager to please their clients. The breakfast is perfect and served in a nice big room with plenty of light and air flow. The eggs are cooked on demand and the coffee machine does perfect cappuccinos. Breads, croissants, cheeses, fresh fruits, cakes and more are available as well as a profusion of all the asian items. But, as nice as they all are, there is nothing they can do about this (in our opinion) awful “watersports” industry or about the behaviour of people on a public beach during some corporative or private events. So, for all these reasons, the money paid to stay at The Lone Pine didn’t worth it when considering the quality of the global experience that we personally had :(

Dear Maja2010, I am glad that you enjoyed the service from our team and the breakfast spread. Thank you for your kind comments. On the other hand, I am dismayed and sad that you have penalized us by your low rating, for something that is totally out of our control and not an aspect of our hotel. It is, as you yourself have pointed out, a public beach. It does get a bit busy on weekends, but unless you are super sensitive to sounds, we don't receive comments about the activities on the public beach. Best regards, Yega and the Lone Pine Team

My first visit to this hotel for my honeymoon. I requested for Sea View Room and was granted by the hotel. The view was spectacular! The bellman was so helpful helping us with luggages. The room we booked definitely left us in awe! It was so perfect for our honeymoon vibe as a newly wed couple! We were welcomed with small plate of delicious dessert. I was so glad we booked the hotel, my husband was so happy throughout our stay. The garden was perfect for aesthetic vibe. However, limited parking spaces when it’s peak weekend. Also, I would rate 4/5 for the breakfast, it was good, only the buffet set up didnt not match the ambience of the classic colonial look presented by the hotel building. Overall, perfect stay!

From the moment we arrived, we felt at home. The warm, welcoming we received at such a lovely hotel was a breath of fresh air after our previous experience at The Eastern and Oriental Hotel in Georgetown which lacked all aspects of service and warmth. Lone Pine Hotel is located right on the beach with beautiful well kept grounds. Our room was excellent….large with a lovely balcony, very comfortable beds and a lovely bathroom.

This was my revisit after years, my first visit was really enjoyable and pleasant. I've read some bad reviews on the cleanliness but I insisted to give another try as my previous visit was memorable. However, the hotel is NOT putting up the game at all. The room was awfully dirty, with drawings on notepad from previous guest that was not disposed, bathroom floor not scrub properly, wet floor with hairs, moldy smell room, stains on the couch cushion, food stain on the cabinet, unplugged phone and placed below the bedside table, broken beside lamp, no bathrobe and slippers.. it was horrible. The pictures speak for itself. All pictures were taken at the moment I walked in. I couldn't believe my eyes. Seriously... Service: 2/5 stars Breakfast: 1/5 stars (foods were not replenished and poor quality) Cleanliness: 1/5 stars Location: 5/5 stars

Hi 106junef, As you have posted the same review on another platform, please allow me to say sorry one more time to you here. Thank you for highlighting your poor experience and all I can do at this point is sincerely apologize to you. We have a very new housekeeping team onboard, and over the busy long weekend admittedly we were overwhelmed and could not give you the proper experience you deserved. I am wondering if you had highlighted to our front desk the condition of your room upon check in, as we would have taken action immediately to clean up or even to move rooms for you. I would have appreciated an opportunity to set things right straight away for you. I hope for an opportunity to redeem ourselves and to provide you with a good stay, please do contact me directly when you are ready. Again, truly sorry for your poor experience and please know that we do take your comments seriously. We will continue with our training here. Best regards, Yega and the Lone Pine Team
