Several accommodations I have visited. Cabañas Potosi was not the Cheapest, but when I walked through the garden I knew: Here I'll stay! The cabanas are simple but practical. The mattresses are very comfortable, thanks to the cool nights you can sleep very well. There are only 4 cabanas! The singing of birds, the rustling of the trees, the view...

We were for 2 days in El Valle and loved the town. We stayed in Cabanas Potosi and couldn't think of a better place to stay! Dennis was a perfect host, telling us the best places to hike and eat. And he sure knows what he's talking about! The cabana was Nice and big, the bed was perfect. We loved...

The two nights that we spent here will be remembered as a highlight of Panama!! The Hosts were extremely welcoming and informative. Morning coffee was provided and the birds were fed so we got to see some beautiful ones fly in in addition to the three semi caged ones who live there.

The rooms are good. It has this motel like setup, where you put your car in front of the room. Cabana is a strange name for the place, since it's stone/ concrete buildings, with a little terrace with seats and a hammock. The garden looks like a park and has many flowers and the lady-owner can talk for hours about...

We spent 4 wonderful nights at Cabanas Potosi. The rooms were spacious and the garden and grounds were beautiful. We enjoyed the morning coffee social where we gathered with other guests to witness the bird feeding. Dennis and Mireya were amazing hosts, friendly and always willing to recommend a good restaurant or share their love of Panama. We traveled by...

I stayed here for 2 nights with my mom and a friend and we all thoroughly enjoyed El Valle and Cabanas Potosi. Dennis and Mireya (the owners) are very friendly, helpful and truly enjoyable to be around. It almost felt as if we were staying with friends. The location is a bit removed from town, but Dennis will drive you...

My husband and I stayed in El Valle for five days before heading to the Azuero Peninsula and Santa Fe. El Valle was our favorite town--and a big reason was due to the helpfulness of the owners of Cabanas Potosi, Mireya and Dennis, for all their suggestions. Not only do they have a binder filled with very detailed info about...

We really wanted to stay there and the hosts were very helpful, very warm and shared a lot of stories and experiences. They are passionate about the place and the environment. It felt like staying with a Panamian aunt. The cabanas are nice with outdoor hammock and table and chairs and a lush garden. The inside is clean and functional,...

I see our room got rated a 2 - It is because we are eco-logical cabins and do NOT have a swimming pool, TV's or A/C but we do have a frig., hot water showers, very comfortable beds and Wifi. Since we are located away from the city center the TV cable line is 1/2 a mile away. I noticed...

A quaint little area tucked away from town, but walking distance to a littl waterfall. The surroundings of this place is not a parking lot, rather a bird sanctuary. We really appreciated the help of Bob, the caretaker, in advising us of the best use of our time during our stay. The "Must See" vs. "the if you have the...

What more can I say about this beautiful place that hasn't already been said? The grounds are absolutely beautiful with all sorts of birds and humming birds around. The price is right. Three of us stayed in one of the cabins and it came to about $20 each. Bob and Debbie were filling in for the owners, and they were...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Cabanas Potosi is located in the second largest shield volcanic crater in the world. The cabins are family owned and offers bird guided tours with one of Panama's best bird guides, Mario Bernal. The valley sits at 3,000 (1,000 Meters) above sea level and is the home of over 300 species of birds plus migratory birds during October and March. Many family owned restaurants are located with walking distance of the cabins. You can get to El Valle by traveling by bus on the Pan-American Highway from Panama City, Panama. The trip takes about two hours of which the last 18 miles (30 Kilometers) offers beautiful view of the mountains and the Pacific Ocean.
