We had a room on the top floor. Our room was large & comfortable, although it lacked air conditioning. The hotel is located near the center of town & within easy walking distance to many restaurants, shops, & bars. If traveling further, there are bus stops right out front. There are some nice views of the surrounding mountains as well. Breakfasts were good, and we enjoyed having a few drinks in the hotel bar each evening. The staff was friendly & helpful. We took a staff member's recommendation of a hike to Sebensee & we're glad we did. We would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves in Ehrwald.

Partly restored and partly old time. At 9:30 p.m. no reception. Hold your key with you. Carpet-boddom in room. Personal is friendly and helpfull. Breakfast is normally good. Situated in the center of Ehrwald.

We stayed at Hotel Stern for a four night break over the new year. Situated in the valley in between three mountain ranges, we were greeted with plenty of snow, but also a warm welcome from owner Edith and her daughters. The modern hotel was spotlessly clean and everywhere in the hotel was well heated. Our room was on the second floor and was comfortably sized for the two of us. Nice balcony, mini bar sized fridge and plenty of wardrobe space enabled us to quickly unwind after the fairly long journey. The large bed we later found out was quite a bit firmer than we're used to! The room had a good sized bathroom and a very powerful, hot shower. All meals were served by friendly staff in the restaurant on the ground floor. Breakfast was the usual European staples of bread, cooked meats and cheeses with eggs, jams, cereal and tea, coffee and juice. Evening meals were set menus which we found rather restrictive and meals were served at set times which gave little flexibility. Food was overall good, but nothing to get overly excited about. The hotel puts on entertainment on New Year's Eve, so if dancing between courses in your evening meal is your thing, this is the place for you! Well located for the free public transport if you like skiing and there are some lovely walks with great views. However, little else to do in the area which couldn't be covered in a day or two.

Hotel Stern is an excellent hotel to prepare for your daily ski trip. I would say that this is a traditional Austrian hotel, with authentic rooms and bar. The hotel is located in the town centre, just across the bus stop to the slopes and some ski rental shops. The rooms and bath room are quiet and clean. The bed is excellent, as well as the service. We could even use the room after check-out to shower before our drive back home. On top of this, the restaurant is very good! To start the day, there is a very good breakfast buffet with excellent choice. Coffee is good to get the first kick, followed by some eggs, Austrian bread and pasteries. At breakfast, you also get the evening menu. Diner was also very tasteful with a lot of variation - perfect to recharge the batteries! In other words, this hotel is highly recommended.

Every summer we go to Italie and every year we stop in EHRWALD, in hotel STERN. Why? *location is GREAT ! *staff is very helpfull and friendly *rooms in Austria-style *I love the old fashioned coloured towels :-) *the breakfast is very good *they have this little newspaper on your breakfast table with tips on things to do & a weather update. *free WIFI The breakfast room and reception are redecorated since last summer (2014). The restaurant is still in Austria style. I love this place and recommend this to everybody !

The lobby and breafast room were very modern and kind of didn't match the style of the rest of the hotel. I was expecting more of a traditional decor. The bathrooms were quite small... Those are my only real complaints. The location was fantastic. Views from my room were outstanding! The breakfast was really good.

We stayed here for a week as a family of 4 (parents and 2 adult daughters) in February 2014 during our annual skiing holiday. It was booked directly with the hotel by email as an alternative to a package holiday as we wanted to visit Ehrwald and couldn't find a travel company offering this location. As a 3 Star alternative to the 4 star hotels which offer faclities we don't always use it was a great choice. The location in the central square was convenient for both the ski bus stop which was immediately across the road and all the other amenities (supermarket, ski hire / clothing shops, banks, etc). Our rooms (the Grubigstein) were as described on the hotel website, spotlessly clean, comfortable and warm. The restaurant offerings for the evening meals of salad buffet, three choice main course (one was vegetarian) and dessert more than met our expectations. For those with children there was also a single meal choice each night. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful with everything we needed asssitance with. We would however point out that the WiFi signal was only available in the small reception area or on the lower flight of the stairs and I feel that a good WiFi signal throughout any hotel is now almost an essential 'must have'. So far as a negative in our review is concerned I would add that the use of the hotel bar to seat diners during the evening meal detered its use as a bar for late evening socialising. Despite this and because of our overall experience I would strongly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting good quality 3 Star accommodation.

We stayed for one night to extend our holiday in Ehrwald. Room was average and on the small side. They'd squeezed in an extra bed for our son. The night we stayed they served a farmers buffet. We asked for something else for our son but they weren't able to offer anything and the waiting on staff were abrupt and unhelpful. Not at all Austrian and not what we've experience in other hotels in the village.

This is a large family owned hotel in the centre of town. The rooms are a good size with balconies and cleaned daily. The food is excellent and varied. There is a buffet breakfast and even an afternoon snack in the bar. Often a soup and cake. The staff in both the bar and restaurant are very friendly and from what I can gather have worked there for many years. It's a great location for a group of skiers with different abilities as there are many runs locally and also nice cages nearby for the non skiers.

We have been Coming this hotel for several years. The rooms are large and the beds very comfortable which is needed after a days skiing!! The breakfast is always fantastic a wide selection of cereal, cold meats and cheese. The evening meals are outstanding we have a choice o 3 different menus most nights or they put on specialised evenings where you can have a selection of different meats served up by the chef or Italian evenings. The children's meal could do with a change as more often than not it is some deep fried meat with chips. Next year we are going to order them smaller versions of the adult meals and see how we get on with that. Also they are no great at accommodating vegetarians often just serving up a plate of veg but then it is Austria!! We stayed over new year and the atmosphere is always fun an the ire works worth the trip! The staff are very accommodating an happy to help with anything hat you may need. It is expensive but as we travel over the new year period we would not expect it to be anything else. As we come ere to ski an added bonus is that the ski bus stops right outside the hotel so not too far to walk when you are all kitted up!!
