Detailed Reviews
A friend recommended this hotel to me. Not because she had stayed here but because she had heard wonderful things and had eaten at one of the restaurants.
It isn’t a cheap option - this is the high high end of luxury and therefore the high end of the price point.
I stayed in a deluxe room with other a lake view. This is the ‘cheapest’ option for a lake view. I would imagine a garden view room is also nice but if you’re at Lake Como then you should definitely make sure you have a lake view room.
Don’t expect a big room but what the room lacks in size it makes up for in every little detail. The bathroom is beautifully supplied with toiletries; plentiful towels; fluffy robes and slippers and an excellent hairdryer. The room is tastefully furnished with pastel tones, lots of pillows and a beautiful little balcony which is perfect for watching the sun rise, set or any time of the day to gaze at the lake.
The hotel facilities are exceptional. I ate in two of the restaurants - La Terrezza (Michelin starred) and Giacomo di Lago (seafood) I was not disappointed with either option although a three course meal with a glass of wine will be in the region of €150. That being said the food really was excellent. There hotel benefits from three pools: one at the Spa; one in the gardens and one on / in the lake. You will see criticism for the fact that the lake pool requires guests to cross the road but this really isn’t an issue in my opinion with staff on hand to stop traffic at the zebra crossing and help you across. The pool in the lake is amazing - you feel like you’re in the lake and you can also jump into the lake and swim in it if you choose. The sun loungers and faculties at the lake pool and the garden pool are wonderful.
The hotel is full of atmosphere and the staff are fabulous. I was travelling solo and they made a point of chatting with me in the morning but respecting my privacy when I wanted to take in the views and the delicious food. I have genuinely never experienced such wonderful hospitality and coming from a family in the hospitality industry that is an endorsement.
This is not a cheap hotel but the atmosphere, beauty and elegance of this hotel are second to none and I would not hesitate to break the bank and visit here again!

My wife and I spent a few days at The Grand Hotel Tremezzo a few weeks ago and it was spectacular. The setting was beautiful and relaxing, the hotel service was impeccable, and the restaurants were excellent. In fact, we preferred the more causal restaurant to the more "upscale" one. Food was perfect.
We had a suite which was a bit small and not a lot of space, but nicely decorated with a small terrace and great view of Lake Como.
One recommendation : - we went to Bellagio a few times to shop and dine. The first time we spent a lot of $ for a private water taxi (maybe 175-200 euro?). Th e next few times we went by public ferry ((euro!!) And the public ferry was efficient , clean and easy
We also splurged on a private boat ride on Lake Como, which was worth the money.
All in all, a wonderful trip and we certainly will repeat

We stayed at this superb hotel overlooking Lake Como for a 4 day break having spent time researching reviews and Covid 19 protocol as my wife is highly vulnerable - and we were not disappointed. The staff are friendly welcoming and extremely professional. The Covid protocols are second to none despite a minority of guests clearly believing they were above wearing masks indoors !! Food and drink was excellent wherever you ate on site - and although expensive - it was well worth it for us. We had our adult daughter with us and our room was both luxurious, spacious and well appointed. We overlooked beautiful scenic gardens to the rear.
Live musician was fantastic, reception staff superb, main bar staff on the terrace especially deserving of mention. The Lake itself is a sight to behold and we really enjoyed our half day at Bellagio which is literally across the water from the hotel. Grand Tremezzo we will be back !

Our experience at the hotel was just extraordinary. The hotel is beautiful and the service is incredible. We came early and asked if they would hold our bags. We were given first class service upon arrival and they even made sure that we would be able to check in early as to not have to wait too long without a room. We had a balcony that overlooked the garden. The room was great as it had beautiful views and was very quiet. The room was clean, comfortable, and quite large. We had great experience after great experience at each pool, bar, and area of the hotel. Staff was always ready, willing, and able to answer questions, give suggestions, and if you needed anything they treated you like royalty. This hotel was incredible and we will 100% be returning in the future. This hotel really knows how to treat a hotel guest and I would highly recommend anyone come stay here.

This hotel is pure decadence and we enjoyed it during our honeymoon in September 2021. Beautiful views, incredible pools, super lush landscaping - the hotel is very well kept. Lots of social media influencers and weddings while we were there. We prefer more private and less ostentatious hotels but we're glad we experienced this one.
Our first room was a junior suite on the top level with a small jacuzzi and views looking out over the mountains and towards the lake. That room was great. After three nights, we were moved to a Lake View Deluxe which was impractically small, the AC didn't really work, but it was nicely decorated and had great views.
The front desk and concierge staff were all very helpful. Re: food: the breakfast room looks like the Versailles of all breakfast rooms (but the food quality / taste was relatively disappointing). The servers at breakfast were a joke. We had to flag someone down to ask for anything but we saw them all standing around not attending to seated diners. The pizza at TBar was some of the best we've ever had. Dinner at the fancy restaurant was a joke and not worth it whatsoever, Giacomo del Lago was fine, L'Escale the wine bar was pretty good. We found that the costs to leave the property to venture to a restaurant in a town nearby exceeded what it cost to eat at the hotel and therefore wasn't really worth it for us. The spa facilities were nice but the massages we got were not good. The masseuses looked like they were right out of college and had no experience. We didn't make it to Villa Carlotta. We loved the half hour boat ride and wine tasting included in our room rate - what a treat!
We did a hike on the Greenwalk in the area, otherwise we were disappointed by the lack of activities around the lake. Taxis are excessively expensive and the ferry schedule is inconvenient. Originally we planned to jump from town to town but given the hotel's beauty and the ferry times, it didn't logistically make sense for us. We went to Bellagio one day and found it to be very touristy and not worth seeing. The main attraction is this hotel and I probably wouldn't stay here for more than four nights.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo. First and foremost, the staff is first rate. Always a smile and a willingness to help. We had a garden view room on the fourth floor, and the view was beautiful. I am an avid gardener, and I notice all the things that make grounds special. Everything is impeccably maintained. When we stayed at Il Salviatino in Florence, our hope for beautiful grounds was dashed because everything was so poorly maintained. Here the bushes are trimmed to perfection, the grass mown beautifully, and the flower gardens maintained impeccably. Many kudos to the GHT garden staff. A truly outstanding job. Guests notice these things and we are so grateful to you for making a gracious property look even more so through your efforts.
The room was furnished beautifully with a nice tray ceiling and moldings. Fully beveled mirrored glass doors reflect the view, and I imagine it is even more beautiful if you have a lake view. But we wanted to conserve at the beginning our trip to Lake Como, Puglia and to splurge at our favorite hotel on the Amalfi Coast, Casa Angelina.
The two outdoor pools are beautiful. The one that actually sits on the lake is special, and a water feature imitating a waterfall adds to its beauty. For me, even nicer is the flower pool in the gardens in the rear of the hotel. It is more serene, yet you still have a gorgeous view of both the mountains and the lake.
The breakfast was bountiful. COVID-19 standards were in force, for which we are grateful. Those who help you served the food and then you take your plate to the table. Special staff to thank are Santino, Ashi and Nafisa in the dining room, Andrea at the lakefront pool, Marco the doorman and especially Alberto Agnese, the hotel manager, who smiled and always offered to help whenever he encountered you.
The hotel has many grand public spaces, and there is always a quiet nook in which to relax. The spa was wonderful. We both had massages that were very well done.
We were wavering between Villa D’Este and the GHT. We are so glad we chose this hotel, as VD many say is somewhat tired and could use a facelift. The GHT was the perfect choice for us and I’m sure it will be for you as well!

What an experience!! As you step off the elevator into the entrance of the hotel, your senses come alive from the stunning beauty and pleasant aromas. We had a beautiful room facing Lake Como with a balcony. What a view. We enjoyed relaxing in all three pools. However, our favorite pool floated in Lake Como. We enjoyed the saunas and had some of the best massages we’ve had during all our travels. From the moment you are greeted by the valet, the front desk staff, housekeeping, and restaurant staff, they were all very friendly, helpful, and professional. A must stay while enjoying Lake Como.

We were greeted at the airport by a classy hotel transfer who pointed out his favorite spots along the drive and showed us that Los Angeles drivers have nothing on how Italians master the road. We arrived earlier than expected and headed down to the beach restaurant, Giacomo, for a fantastic seafood lunch and our first Spritz of the day with the adorable and upbeat Francesco. Upon checking in, we were surprised with a suite that was so breathtaking it was difficult to leave the room again. We had an amazing dinner at La Terrazza, watching the sunset fall over the lake and mountains with the wonderful company of the very knowledgable and witty wine connoisseur, Mattia. We're not big on eating breakfast usually, but the buffet rivals any five star hotel we've been to. Each of the 3 pools was more beautiful than the next and the pool staff were extremely accommodating - even when we kicked things up a notch with a group of girlfriends we ran into from home (delicious cocktails). We lived out our Gray Malin / Wes Anderson fantasy by booking a boat tour of the lake through the hotel and our captain, Marco, was the absolute best. It was the highlight of our 18 day trip. Marco, we forgive you for not knowing who Dua Lipa was before we introduced you to her music. The true all star, however, was our new friend Yeva. Yeva, you're an absolute dream. We can't wait to return to GHT, in the meantime we've already convinced several friends to stay there later this summer. All our love!

This hotel is superb, the service is beyond any other and the staff is super helpful. It is such a luxury to stay here. We were upgraded for both rooms as we booked through the Amex fine hotels reservations and were delivered a cake to the room as we were celebrating my husband's birthday. Even though it rained, we managed to use the indoor pool and had a fabulous experience. Will say though, that it was super expensive, we ended up paying over $2600 for 1 night with 2 rooms, which is a bit crazy but the experience was none the less amazing.

Still dreaming of when we can return to this spectacular Lake Como property . It ranks at the top of my list for best hotel ever! My husband and I spent 4 nights here in September 2022. The hotel has old world charm that you could only find in Europe. The lobby, the staircase, the ballroom...every inch of it just jaw droppingly beautiful. Our room was small but so charming. We had wanted to book a room overlooking the lake but there were none available. We will definitely book a lakefront room when we go back. Their signature bath products were so nice and can be purchased at the hotel boutique. Big bonus was that they provide Dyson hairdryers since I had to leave mine back home. Our room had a nice view with windows (auto shades) that overlooked a garden where some weddings took place. The hotel is very romantic and the story is that over a hundred years ago they uncovered a hidden book of secret love letters written by guests and every evening when they would do turn-down service they would leave you a copy of one of these letters along with delicious truffles in a little linen pouch. Just that extra special touch that you can't forget. The housekeeping staff were great.
The pool and gardens in the rear of the hotel are spectacular with unbelievably breathtaking views. The T-Pizza is the casual restaurant by the pool and they serve up the best pizza and Aperol Spritz!
The floating pool on the lake and beach were so unique and such a fun place to relax with a special cocktail after a day touring Lake Como.
The restaurants and bars are all top notch. We ate at La Terrazza, their fine dining restaurant on the patio overlooking the lake...the food and service amazing. This restaurant also had the morning buffet and I have never seen a buffet like this one. Every food your heart could desire and then some all while watching the lake come to life! We also ate at the L'Escale Trattoria and Wine Bar and had the best veal with truffles we've ever eaten. One evening we dined at the beachside restaurant Giacomo a Lago and the fresh seafood was amazing.
The ferry is just a few minutes walk down the road and takes you to the many beautiful towns on Lake Como. You're also within walking distance to lots of lovely shops and restaurants in Tremezzo.
Overall, the hotel and staff go above and beyond expectations which is what made this stay so unforgettable. Truly a 5 star experience.
