Diane, how exciting!
Okay, how long is a piece of string? It all depends on whether you and your group enjoy walking and taking public transport as the hotel is inland and approximately 9km from the Venice metropolitan which requires taking boats across to reach it. The hotel is quaint and run by a lovely gentleman who greets you warmly an remembers your room the moment you walk in the next time. So please, have a look at the map on TripAdvisor and see where you wish to move around. That would help you make a better decision. I was on a booked tour, but had free time the second day and went off with a few of my tour friends. We walked.
