The hotel building and room was lovely, as was the breakfast in the morning. We were charged extra for changing the pillows to non-feather ones and also charged extra for our dog (which we were not aware of until check out). The location is very central in Matlock Bath but the parking spaces were quite small and not in a...

Hello Anne Marie It is unusual for us to get a review on Christmas day especially as it was over 7 months since you stayed with us. As it has been a while we had to dig around for your booking and remind ourselves of your booking details. We did find we had sent you our confirmation on Feb 2nd...

Just had a fab weekend staying with Zoe and Chris at their delightful hotel . They couldn't have made us more welcome if they tried. The rooms were fantastic and had every thing you needed. The breakfast choice was never ending there was so much variety to choose from. The best thing about this hotel is where it is situated...

A lovely Victorian building furnished in the period but to a modern standard and quality. Many original features and spotlessly clean throughout. Simple straightforward menu cooked to a very good standard with high quality local ingredients. The hosts made us feel very much at home. Definitely would go here again!

I would highly recommend this hotel for anybody staying in Matlock. We stayed for one night as a family & friends group to celebrate a 21st wedding anniversary & taking all the rooms. The room that my wife & I had was good size & had a very comfortable bed. Our party had pre-selected our evening meals which meant that...

We stayed here again, 14 months after first visiting, and Zoe & Chris remembered us. I can only repeat what I said last time, a truly wonderful hotel. Cleanliness & facilities are still top notch and all the staff are lovely.

We had a lovely stay at this tastefully decorated, historical but well-kept, clean period hotel. Do explore the "secret garden" up the slope behind the hotel - enchanting, will be even more so with some planned TLC. We especially appreciated the owners' "going the extra mile" to help us with a time/transport crunch to the train station. We enjoyed our...

We found the hotel to be cosy, comfortable and full of unique Victoriana. It also has its own cave system and rooftop garden, with panoramic views. The food was excellent as was the service, and the local area is easy to walk around and full of little cafes.

My wife and I stayed for just one night for a delayed wedding anniversary so were looking not just for a comfortable stay but a good meal. We were slightly apprehensive when we first saw the outside of the hotel but our apprehension disappeared as soon as we got inside. Chris and Zoe were most welcoming and helpful, the public...

Appearances can be deceptive... From the outside there is nothing very remarkable about the building, but on entering you discover a different world. The owners, Zoe & Chris were most welcoming & helpful, without being intrusive. Zoe in particular went out of her way to accommodate our needs and made our stay very enjoyable indeed. The rooms are exquisitely decorated...

Two old (average age 86) friends and I spent 4 nights at Hodgkinson's Hotel. I do not recall any hotel which gave a friendlier welcome or better service, It is a small hotel on the main A6 in Matlock Bath, in an old building, but despite being only a couple of yards from a main trunk road, the traffic was...
