Casa de la Luz is a very laid-back guesthouse and its new host, Rafael, made me feel extremely welcome. I stayed in the upper-floor suite, which has a lovely screened porch looking into the tropical vegetation filling the small courtyard. It's a short walk into the center of town, but long enough to allow you a glimpse into the non-gentrified...

This is a true hidden jewel of a guesthouse in Tlacotalpan! We booked it using booking.com and didn't realize that the reservation was cancelled. Thankfully that didn't matter because when we showed up there was a room available for us that was even cheaper and still met all of our needs. The whole place, down to the plant selection in...

We stayed two nights in the studio and it is rare to find as comfortable, tasteful and well-furnished lodgings in a town as small as Tlacotalpan. In addition to the main room on the upper level there is a covered, screened porch overlooking the luxuriant side garden and nearby rooftops. There is lots of hot water and good pressure for...

We had a wonderful time in Tlacotalpan: it is an architectonic treasure. This might not be a large city but it is a small one--in other words, one has the time to experience everything at ease, every colour, shape, and column, including where one stays. In our case, a beautiful and spacious studio gave us a great start: comfortable beds,...

It was wonderful, after a long trip, to arrive at Bill's beautiful home. We would highly recommend the studio as a great place to stay. Bill was as welcoming as could be, sharing much about the town. Tlacotalpan is truly a treasure!

we were looking for special and quiet place to stay that in someway "matches" the magical tlacotalpan. I always follow my instinct and we ask at a typical store a nice place to stay. they gave us only this address ( casa de la luz ) and we go there at the very end of the day hopping that our...

We stayed in Casa de la Luz for 6 nights and truly enjoyed it. The apartment is spacious, open plan with a kitchenette, bathroom, two double beds, cable TV and nice screened-in porch. Air conditioning is a must because of the humidity. Everything was clean and comfortable. Nice beds. The hotel is about 3 blocks from the town center and...

We arrived unannounced and were delighted to find that the apartment was available. It is up a stone stairs from the courtyard. There are two double beds, a well equiped kitchen and best of all, a wall of glass doors that opens onto a screened terrace. We wakened each morning to see the canopy of palms and other trees that...

Casa De La Luz is a great find for those wanting to experience Tlacotalpan. The accommodations are artist and practical...the best combination. Bill is a wonderful host who has good recommendations for sights to see and restaurants to visit. If you love early 19th c. Mexican architecture, it is a real treat to see so many unspoiled examples in this...

La Casa de La Luz is an absolutely wonderful little place in a town that is northing short of magical! Tlacotalpan is a dreamy little place lost in time, and Casa de La Luz provides all the amenities (wifi, satellite TV, beautiful earthenware pottery and all the necessary appliances to make wonderfully fresh meals from the local market, etc), that...
