I stayed there for 3 nights, the hotel is located in front of the dwarf. Has a great view and the rooms are very simple but nice. Just lovely. Their restaurant is one of the cities best. Tlacotalpan is a jewel next to the Papaloapan river and a beautiful quiet colonial city. Rates are very affordable and service is very... More

If I had the option, I'd give the hotel a 3.5. This is probably one of the best places to stay, with its convenient location right at the town center near the river and restaurants. I like the architecture, with its historical and Caribbean colonial feel. The room is well decorated with a strong local flavor and generally clean. However,... More

Well, the town is a hidden gem. My mother was originally born there.the last time I visited the town was 15 years ago. To my surprise the town is still the same. Placid, slow, colourful and traditional. Dona Lala is the best hotel in town. I rented the best suite for $80 canadian dollars. The rooms, furniture and decor are... More

Really enjoyed 3 nights stay here. Great rooms-spacious, clean, bright, ours had a beautiful river view, great showers, comfortable beds. We loved the hotel restaurant for breakfast and lunch-excellent ceviche, fish, eggs, fruit, coffee and friendly, fun service. All around a very pleasant stay, would definately go back again.

Overall, this is a good hotel. The rooms are small and basic but very clean, VERY comfortable beds and the hotel is located in the heart of everything. The Front Desk staff are a bit surly but they look after your needs and provide good advice if asked. The internet in the rooms is good but doesn't work in the... More

Terrific bright suite with great view, in one of the loveliest un-touristy spots in Mexico, but potentially ruined by horrendous extractor fan noise from restaurant below. With much fuss, they turn it off at night. Restaurant has a front terrace, but another fan blasts straight onto it, so it is impossible to sit there.

After being stopped for 4 hours on the main highway due to a manifestacion, and then driving very slowly to the coast behind innumerable doble, doble semi-remolques hauling sugar cane, we were totally delighted to arrive in Tlacotalpan and find a room at Dona Lala. Fabulous 19th century building - our room had french windows and small balcony with plants,... More

This hotel is found one block away from the main attractions of the town. It's an old building so don't expect any luxury or state of the art facilities. Some rooms can be very noisy at night because of bars that are located near by, but if you are assigned one of those rooms the manager will let you know... More
