The welcoming and accommodating staff, Jan Fernanda et. al. convey the thoughtfulness of all aspects of staying at HZ. Rubber boots in all sizes for wet walks and horseback rides to the beautiful fireplaces set each night to take the chill off the room. Room 8 an iridescent blue green and long tailed hummingbirds flash at the feeder constantly. Food...

A place that has to be experienced to fully understand. A hacienda that dates back to the 1600s nestled among ruins of pre Inca civilization. We were there for 3 nights and the meals were never short of excellent. Afternoon tea was a relaxing prelude to dinner after a day of horseback riding or hiking on one of the several...

Set in the Andes and run by the family of a previous president, this is one of the loveliest hotels I have ever had the pleasure to stay at. The buildings are superb. One feels a part of the family who run this working farm with a cheese factory and a condor rescue center. We milked a cow with one...

The Hacienda is heaven on earth. My wife and I spent three days here and loved every minute of it. We went riding each day from the condors to the mountain tops, it was all amazing. We even spied three wild condors from the mountain tops. Jan took extremely wonderful care of us.

Zuleta, a beautiful 17th century farmhouse that once belonged to Galo Plaza Lasso, former president of Ecuador and ambassador to the U.S., and has remained in the same family for more than a century. It just keeps getting better and better at providing the truly authentic experience of life on a big, beautiful working farm-ranch. As a return visitor, this...

This is one of the most beautiful settings - an old family estate. There are pictures of the family in each room and the common areas. Very comfortable. Everyone was friendly - in the evening there is cheese served by the fireplace. One of the owners, Margarita, spent time with us and told us about the hacienda and the family...

Perfect; friendly staff, a welcoming family, great home cooked food and fires in each room ! The location is perfect for a getaway, but it's worth staying at least 3 nights to get the most from the place.

What a fantastic place, we didn't want to leave and honestly two nights was not enough, we would recommend a minimum of three nights.
