Like most travellers, we stayed at the SJ Backpackers Semporna prior to our stay at the SJ Mabul Beach Resort. I've stayed in plenty of grimy hostels with bad service, but this one was up there. When we arrived, I stood at the front desk while two employees sat on the ground behind the desk on their phones. I was...

Arrived at 5am after 10hours bus ride but the reception was not open until around 630am. Went for sunrise instead. Dorm room is basic but comfortable. with ac. no power outlets for 6pax. wifi in the room is ok. (heard it's not so good in private rooms) Shower rooms are ok. there's RM10 deposit lockers for your valuables. Power outlets...

Room good, wifi good, aircon worked well.Nice and clean. Staff on desk very nice. Will get laundry done for you and book tickets for the buses to Sandakan, KK etc. Please use these people to book your bus tickets NOT the pizza restaurant next door. The pizza restaurant, although doing delicious pizzas sell only Dyanar bus tickets and they are...

We stayed here as part of a package with Scuba Junkie. Room ok but smelt a bit old. It had air con which was a plus as it was so hot outside. Hot and cold shower but not much pressure. Wifi reached the room which was also a plus

The beds in the 6 person dorm were clean, at least. Most of the outlets don't work, and the wifi isn't great. The bathrooms are kind of gross. But it's a safe place to stay in Semporna, which isn't exactly a nice town... Staff is mostly friendly. Lockers are outside the room and right next to the street so make...

Just in front of scuba junkie office. We stopped here twice before and after scuba diving. Sempurna in general is over priced because it is the gateway to Mabul and Sipadan. The town itself has nothing to offer. Because we were diving with them we paid 75MYR for a private room with shared bathroom. If you are not diving with...

Pricey compare to hotels in Tawau. Got mosquitoes. Basic. located in hotels and supermarket area. Near jetty. It,s bar is next door only.It seems westerners like it. The market only 100m away where you could buy fruits and tidbits

There are so many better places in Semporna to stay at. This place was noisy and so small. The staff were quite rude and really did not give a damn about us. I would really recommend Best Bunk Beds - great location and so clean. Do yourself a favour and stay anywhere but here.

I came to this hostel after spending a few days in its sister hotel in Mabul. I was hoping for more less the same quality but sadly thats not the case. I stayed in a private room with my girlfriend and as soon as we got it it stank of insect repellant. We thought that given the high number of...

Basic budget accommodation for divers. Dorm slept 10. Double or twin rooms available. All rooms are air conditioned. Shared Bathrooms & basins outside at the end of the corridor. Hot water (but low pressure) shower available. Bed are clean & comfy. Value for money. Nearest to SJ dive shop & jetty. But if you want more privacy, this is not...
