My husband and I just returned from a holiday in Costa Rica. Being Canadian, we picked this hotel because the owner was from Canada and we were curious. Arriving at around 9:00pm in a 4x4 up a mountain(literally), we were greeted with smiles and food and taken care of like family. We awoke the next morning to the most incredible view we have ever experienced. We were blown away by everything here....the staff, the chefs, the villa's ....the privacy....everything was exceptional. By the end of our stay we not only felt like family, we were sad to leave. To be appreciated, this boutique hotel (8 Villas) must be visited. Do yourself a favour and add it to your bucket list as a must! You won't regret it.

Hotel's Favourite
The Golden Pineapple provides a perfect view of the Whale Tail, modern accommodations, great ambiance, and a very private feel in the Villa. The drinks were great, as well as the dining options. I really enjoyed the outdoor shower and soaking tub. We celebrated our anniversary here, and the romance package was really... well, romantic. It was absolutely perfect. The staff is wonderful, and we really appreciated the feeling of complete privacy in the Villa with the ability to socialize in the bar/restaurant lounge area. Getting here was a bit of a challenge, but it was worth it. We really didn't have to leave the Villa if we didn't want to. They had everything! I'm hoping we will be able to return to this romantic getaway in the future. Thank you Anna, Leo, Marlon, and the entire staff of the Golden Pineapple Villas! Pura Vida!

First and foremost, have a 4 x 4 car when trying to get here. This is a requirement not a suggestion! However, once you get to the top, the views are breathtaking. Since these are more of an intimate type of villa, with only seven rooms, the attention to detail is unfathomable. the person who checked us in was also the person who served our dinner and our breakfast the next morning. He truly loved this place and he could tell by how much he wanted you to love this as much as he did. We stayed in villa number 2. The water Villa. Upon entering the room, we made it just in time to see the sun set over the jungle. The room had a nice king size bed, small living room, and kitchen net, then going behind the bed was your sink and toilet. What does Villa is really good at is it's outdoor shower tub and endless pool. The large windows and sliding glass doors to go outside to inside, expand it across the whole villa so you could see the outdoors at all times. It was nice to fall asleep to the city lights down below my work and the whales tail. The sliding glass doors were very tough to open and close, so hoping that those get put on a rolling track and easier to open and close. The tub outside, water fountain was leaking and made it hard for the tub to fill up quickly without flooding the space. They gave us an iPad to look over some of the activities and any amenities we could get while staying there. Which was a nice touch. I believe because it was at the top of the hill, and the thickness of the wires, the power went out at least 3 to 4 times per day and WiFi down at least twice during our 2 night stay. Usually is though the power kicked back on within a couple of minutes and we could easily turn back on the AC. I chose this place because of the breathtaking views, and I was not let down. It was great to be in the "jungle "section of Costa Rica and experience, some of the wildlife that they have to offer. The drinks and food were delicious, and I always try to eat local cuisine wherever I go. This was definitely a one off type of experience, as I usually don't travel like this to villas specifically, but if I ever do again, those villas, have something to compare to. The golden pineapple villas was a beautiful space, and truly fell in love with every aspect of it.

We stayed here for three nights and I did not want to leave. This place is amazing and we had such a fantastic time here. The owners and staff are all friendly and so helpful. Breakfast in the restaurant is really good and I just loved the pineapple mimosa. The villas are stunning. We stayed in the Sunset Villa. It was a great size, had a well stocked kitchen and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. We have been to many hotels around the world but this must be one of the cleanest rooms we have ever stayed in. The view from the terrace is lovely, as you are up on the hill you look over the rain forest all the way to Uvita and have a brilliant view of the Whale´s Tail. We also had quite a lot of toucans sitting in a tree right next to our terrace every day. The road up to the hotel is very steep and you will not make it without a 4x4. The first trip up was a bit of a challenge but once you know the way, it is okay. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Costa Rica and this time also longer than only three nights!

This was our first trip to Costa Rica. We were looking for comfort, quiet time , luxury of place, nature and good food. We choose to book Golden Pineapple Villas and we were smitten with accommodations, view, service, warm hospitality. What a GEM! Jessie has an exquisite taste in luxury lifestyle and shows in smallest details. I felt so fortunate to be a guest in the Villas and experience this magical place. I hope to return soon.

Amazing place. We had a private pool, outdoor shower and tub. The views were incredible. Food was five star as was the service. We will definitely be back. It was so quiet and private. Loved how they hadn't disturbed the jungle to build the villas.

The Golden Pineapple is the most magical place I can imagine. Set on a hilltop, nestled in the clouds, the views of the ocean and whales tail are spectacular. The rooms, the grounds, everything are stunning and perfectly maintained. Food is delicious. All of this perfection comes from the incredible owners, Oval and Jessie who could not have been more accommodating or helpful. The staff are equally kind, gracious and helpful. I always feel nervous writing a review like this because I want this to be my forever place in Costa Rica and don’t want it to get too busy, but this review is so well earned it had to be written.

Marlon was awesome giving me advice and booking tours for us from about a week before we got there. We arrived at around 1am because we drove from the San Jose airport from a flight that got in at night. I don't recommend that, but we only had the weekend, so we went for it. The mountain was pretty wild driving up; thank goodness I read all these reviews ahead of time. Def needed 4x4 and someone that doesn't mind driving on windy unpaved steep roads up a mountain. A few of the turns were not clearly marked, but we made some good guesses. Thank goodness it didn't rain a lot on the drive in. By the end of our weekend, my husband was timing himself on how fast he could get up and down the mountain; he was having a great time. It rained hard all night the last night we were there, and we were afraid of it being muddy going down the mountain at 3am when we had to head back to the airport, but it was totally fine going down - no mud at all. Room was perfect, view was WONDERFUL. We had an outdoor shower and bath which was so nice soaking in. We were out adventuring the two full days we were there, so I never got into the plunge pool; husband said it was a little chilly. Loved the layout of the villas, where you really never see the other people there unless you happen to dine at the same time in the restaurant. We only got to take advantage of the free breakfast once, but it was delicious. What an adventurous weekend!

The room was absolutely gorgeous. I'm usually hard to please as It pertain to the cleanliness of a room, but the attention to detail was beyond my imagination. The service was beyond five star. The food and drinks at the restaurant were delicious. Leo, Anna, and Marlon were just all Angels. They make you feel like family or friends and made it hard to leave. The location was very close to town with amazing restaurants and bars to visit. I felt very safe in the area and people were super friendly. I will certainly will be back and I will not consider staying anywhere else.

I’m not even sure where to start. The trip up the mountain was an adventure. We chose to have the GP arrange a ride for us after changing our plans multiple times and flying into Quepos. Jessie, the owner, was beyond responsive and helpful in making arrangements for us. Once we arrived we were in awe. The property is so private and has such a friendly and welcoming feel. In the 3 days we stayed the staff treated us so well and anything we needed they tended to with a smile. The food on property was outstanding and we ate every meal on site as once we discovered how remarkable this place was we didn’t want to spend any time away from it. We had adventures planned in another location later in our trip so this was the perfect Place to relax and just enjoy our surroundings. We did yoga on our patio poolside every morning after waking up to various wildlife right outside our bedroom window. We did hike to the mini waterfall on property a few times which was so private and a great place for reflection. Upon our return, Anna had cold infused waters waiting for us. The private pool and outdoor bath were phenomenal and we spent our days rotating between them. One day we had our lunch delivered. The ceviche and the tuna tartare were outstanding as well as all of their cocktails. The level of service and attention to detail was beyond our expectations. We have travelled a lot but have never experienced customer service or privacy like this provided. We can’t wait to come back. We made some new acquaintances after we left and after we bragged about the GP they all decided to cancel their existing reservations and move to the GP instead. They echoed the same experience. It is a magical place and if you are looking for a reset and a true relaxing experience look no further! We truly felt like we had the whole rainforest with a beautiful ocean view all to ourselves. But when we wanted to eat it was a quick walk to the bar and poolside restaurant to enjoy its magnificent view. Exceeded our expectations for an early 25th anniversary celebration! Thank you for creating this one of a kind experience! Like many others have written, it will be very hard to find anything that compares to this in our future travels. You have set the bar high!
