We stayed here for one night on our cycle along the Wild Atalntic Way. We arrived cold, wet and windblown but had the warmest of welcomes from Mary the owner. Both us and our bikes were well looked after. Comfortable rooms and great breakfast..more than we could eat! And interesting to find that Mary and my husband had mutual acquaintances...

We came late evening to Portmagee and could not find any available vacancies. By chance we found Calafont B&B and were very happy that the host lady said they have free rooms, with very acceptable price. As it was already late for any restaurants in Portmagee to offer dinner, she made a call for us to two of them and...

Mary was a lovely host. Very friendly, welcoming and a great breakfast cook. Flexible with payment times and storing luggage/car after checkout if doing a day trip prior to leaving the area. One tip- very much in the country and there are no street lights in the area, make sure you remember where the place is so you can relocate...

Without realizing that it was just a few days before the August Bank Holiday weekend, when accommodation in Ireland is tight everywhere, I made a committment to visit the area for an event at Valentia in late July. Mary was able to arrange a room for me at short notice, and when my flight to Kerry was delayed for seven...

We stayed here for one night and loved it. The view from the front of the house is beautiful (see photo). The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The owner is a lovely woman also. The breakfast was amazing, she makes sure her guests don't leave hungry. Highly reccommend staying here if you are planning on staying in this area.

It is difficult to find more superlatives for this place when other reviewers have so eloquently stated the beauty and charm of this B&B. Sitting on a hill overlooking the ocean surrounded by peace and quiet, you will be lulled into a wonderful state of relaxation. We stayed two nights but I would happily have stayed longer. The host, Mary,...

Spent 4 peaceful nights at this great little B&B located in an area which is one of only 4 places in the world designated as an International Dark Sky Reserve (NO LIGHT POLLUTION! ). My room was clean, the bed very comfortable and I woke up every morning to a beautiful view of Portmagee Channel and Valentia Island from my...

First, the location: Calafont enjoys one of the most beautiful spots in all Kerry: overlooking the Portmagee channel and spectacular Bray Head on Valentia island, at walking distance from pristine secluded small Reencahera beach, at walking distance from the port, the restaurants, the post office … but as quiet as can be… The breakfast lounge overlooks the afore-mentioned spectacular channel...

Mary & Paddy Cartin invite you to stay at their modern and stylish fully equipped home overlooking Valentia Island just off the Ring of Kerry. Dramatic views from all guest rooms are guaranteed. Breakfasts from Mary's famous Full Kerry breakfast to Continental are offered. An ideal base for 3 - 4 day stays. We recommend a trip to The Skelligs Rock - spectacular scenery, birdlife and an incredible 6th century monastic settlement - a trip we can arrange and all who go say they will never forget. Also within a 10 minute walk is Reencaheragh Strand - sheltered and safe for swimming - benefiting from the Gulf Stream the water here is remarkably mild (by our standards!) ... more   less
