The restaurant at Hotel Sangiovese is a little-known gem in the Tuscan hilltop town of Panzano in Chianti. Fantastic food at extremely reasonable prices, amazing regional wine selection, and friendly efficient service. Dinner for four, including antipasti, promo piatti, secondi piatti, contorni, dolce, coffee, and grappa was €100. The food was freshly prepared and delicious!!! The vino del casa (house...

What a shame that a lovely dinner was spoiled when the owner tried to insist we paid in dollars on our credit card and not in euros charging us an exhorbitant exchange rate! Up until then we had enjoyed a lovely dinner in a slightly austere dining room. I had had a rabbit dish and my husband went for a...

We were greeted on our arrival by the lovely Cecelia and given our rooms with no delay. Cecelia helped us to our rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors. Our room (14) was exactly what we wanted with great views over the valley towards Greve. Great comfortable beds and heaters on to ward off the evening chill. Located right in...

We stayed 2 nights at Villa Sangiovese mid Sept. Arrived at a time when they were having a wine festival in the Square . Found out they were having this every Tuesday in September , which was an extra plus, and gave us and activity we could participate. Room was comfortable, bathroom roomy and clean. Breakfast was good. Staff friendly...

I just returned from 8 days in Panzano at Villa Sangiovese. I cannot express how wonderful the owners, staff and rooms in Villa Sangiovese are. You must stay here if you are visiting Panzano! The rooms are beautiful, spacious and very clean. Ulderico and Ann Marie and everyone who works there could not have been nicer and so helpful with...

I placed a reservation the night before. Upon arriving, I was told there was no available room...I clearly made a reservation and offered to show the email string to the owner who didn't believe me. His partner/wife clearly thought differently, but was told to remain quiet several times despite offering to inject something positive to reinforce our reservation. Frustrating customer...

Just called from my company (I am working with 30 airline companies). We were interested ton talk about their Hotel and suggest their property to our clients all around the world. Instead of try to understand the real reason of my call (I just told him my name) the owner just hung up on me. I hope he has a...

We were booked into the 'Mad Butcher of Panzano' for dinner, so decided to stay the night in the lovely village of Panzano instead of driving back to our holiday rental home a few hours away. We enquired online & had a very prompt response back to advise that accommodation was available at Villa Sangiovese. The staff were lovely, the...

The staff was friendly (a little harried in the morning)...cannot say enough about the pool with the a view. The landscaping and view were great. We made this last minute arrangement after realizing we would not be driving home after eating at Dario C.'s restaurant for dinner (the Butcher of Panzano). The room furnishings were a little tired and not...

After six hectic days of absorbing the cultural wonders of Florence, we headed out into the Tuscan countryside. The transition was wonderful -- Panzano is a real Tuscan town where framers drive through town hauling cartloads of lives and old men gather in the square for gossip, cigarettes and coffee. If you want the tarted-up, touristic experience of San Gimignano,...
