It’s our last day here and this hotel is a bit of a mixed bag really so I will break it into good & bad. Just to point out that we only wanted somewhere to base ourselves as we spent our days out at the beach or other areas of the island. Good: Spacious apartment with well equipped kitchen of the size you would expect. (Just a point if you want wine glasses you can get them from reception.)There is lots of storage space in the bedroom, mattresses have toppers so comfy. Short walk to the lovely beach. Great views from all the upper rooms, you can see the sea & the lovely sunset. Two small but decent swimming pools plus a kids pool. Bar available for food & drink. On-site shop plus a small Spar next door. Lady at reception was lovely & so are cleaning staff.
Bad. Cleaning is bare minimum, the rooms aren’t dirty but it’s just a basic wipe over around 3/4 times per week and sheets only changed once per week. Beds are only singles and mine especially sounded like it was going to collapse under me every time I moved. Although the majority of the apartments are in good condition the bathrooms need attention, as look very tired. Shower runs well but the shower head was old and covered in limescale. Although the balconies are a good size they offer no privacy at all and you can hear everything your neighbours do, I mean everything!!!! We didn’t use pool bar as on the first occasion we tried we got ignored by the 3 members of staff so left without ordering anything. Plus if you are vegetarian they have nothing to offer other than pizza, chips and omelette . They seem to charge for any extras such as Wi-Fi (don’t bother, stupid price) but have two pool tables out of use that would bring in an income. No entertainment day or night. So not much to do especially for kids. So definitely no reason to make you want to hang around. No sun around pool area until 11am (October) In general you get the idea there is not much effort by the staff, they just do enough to tick over. Clearly not full but we weren’t able to keep our room late or use another room as they claimed they are booked out. When we checked in the guy was a bit rude and only gave us one room and we had to point out we had two. Took a while to get sorted. Had our daughters passports but still questioned their ages to be in their own room, one of them is 26!!!!!!
Amadores itself is lovely but think in future we will stay in In Puerto Rico and just come round for the beach as there is not much away from the beach itself.

Stayed for 2 weeks , Location to a fantastic family beech with plenty to do and eat .. 5 stars , main town has plenty to do eat/ shop / bar etc only 3-4 Euro each way . There is a place called Europark .. again plenty to do but a bit Blackpool … Had few trips Aqualand and Dolphin show at wildlife park .. best book off website and get a cab rather than TUI . Talking to other guest s who have visited b4 appears that there used to be barbecue, shows etc .. nothing now real shame . The Pool table s not working this is un expectable as my kids love this on holiday . Room s are very spacious .. issues are it’s old and tired and with some simple improvements could be much better… Towels these are 20 years old so thin , clean properly and 6 days a week , come on Air con , card s not keys to room , painted with lighter paint .. but fan s and windows open your be ok .. Be warned if you have booked a room for 3 or 4 the lounge bed is not any good for even a child it’s a camp bed with a tiny bit of foam . The owner is obviously old and running this with a 80/90 s mind everything basic your charged for , safe , fan, kettle , toaster , Wi-Fi .. TV remote . Wi-Fi don’t bother ( expensive and does not work in room ) , make sure you have a data deal b4 you come Staff , come on bar staff grumpy as hell … reception the lady really helpful thank you .. night man on reception so rude and un helpful . We had a great holiday because we made it that way and location is spot on . Pool s ok and pretty quiet at night . If your thinking of booking and you want a base and like going out , it is ok but if you have young kids who like shows , pool and get tired and you like staying near hotel .. don’t book here .

This is the third time we have stayed at gran amadores and had a lovely holiday.
Location is great, 5 min walk to the beach and a 3.5 euro taxi to europa and 4.5 euro to the main Puerto Rico centre. Bus stop outside the hotel too.
There is a shop on site, reasonable prices and also a Spar literally around the corner, 1 min walk.
Pool bar is wonderful and actually run independently to the hotel. The staff are fantastic, always smiling and the snack bar food is always excellent. Burgers are 5euro (7.5 with chips) and even have fried onions and salad with them, omelette and chips also 7.5 euro etc. The drinks are 2-4-1 all day on selected items (beer, wine, sangria, Budweiser, San Miguel etc and local spirits with mixer). We had a few meals here when round the pool.
We would have spent more evenings round the pool bar but sadly due to covid they suspended the entertainment person and still not reinstated them. It used to be fantastic, a real friendly feel and not too much just enough. I think this is an absolute must to be brought back as the hotel is so quiet and a bit boring. Just to have someone to suggest a game of water polo or aqua aerobics all add to the fun of being on holiday. I will be the first to admit I don’t always take part but it’s nice to watch and breaks the day up. It also helps having an entertainment person on an evening to keep things in the holiday feel (and to keep any large groups overtaking the bar area in check wink wink)
The rooms are well equipped to self cater and for the price we paid I am very happy with them. Yes they are a bit tired in the bathroom and there is no air con but we have always paid very little to come so the exchange seems fair. If the bathrooms were done up and the rooms given a makeover guess what - it’s dearer to come stay lol
Pools are lovely and everywhere is really clean. Lots of sunbeds and no towel wars to reserve one.
Hotel reception staff, special shout out to the new lady in reception with the long blonde hair, super star! So helpful and professional and even helped me locate a missing swimming costume accidentally taken to laundry from the room. The other lady receptionist who works nights was also lovely and welcoming and always friendly too.
All in all if you get a good deal it’s worth it.
Ps we had a kettle in the room, I believe it’s only ground floor rooms that don’t have one. So Iv heard?

We arrived to the apartments late at night and it was really good to see the pool bar still open so we could get food if we wanted it. The reception also sells water and the on site shop is great for picking up the essentials. 2 minute walk from the spar is ideal too and only 5 minutes from the beach.
The apartments are basic but clean and well equipped. The only downside is no aircon which on hot nights would be a god send. Saying this, fans can be rented from reception for a reasonable price if you need them.
All staff were friendly and welcoming and being in a quite location worked well for us, 3 euros to the europa centre and about 4 to peurto Rico in a taxi is ideal for a night out without being right in the middle of it all.
We also had an evening flight so paid 25euros for a late check out - worth every penny.

Arrived end of july for 2 weeks longest 2 weeks of my life!!. To cut a long story the hotel is basic which I expected but I still expect it to be clean. Room had not had floor cleaned for whole 2 weeks, the pool area only gets cleaned every other day! Corridors are filthy. The pool toilets had not been cleaned for the whole time we were there we were constantly complaining about them and nothing was done, even the soap in dispenser was dried up! The paint in the jacuzzi is all peeled off and I the water. You have to pay 4 euro for the jacuzzi to work. 18 euro for WiFi which only works on balcony. Bugs in our bed and was told to sleep on sofa. Pool table out of order the whole time, no entertainment what ever not even music around the pool! Man on reception at night very rude! People reserve sunbeds before 7am. No air con rooms u bare able have to rent fan for 10 euro for week which didn't really make that much difference. The hotel is the most boring hotel I've ever stayed. Meant to have a BBQ once a week that never happened every time you question anything they blame covid! I would never return here even if the holiday was free. I never wrote a review on any of my holidays I've never felt the need to but this is a must. Save your cash!

We stayed in these apartments from 1st to 8th August after waiting almost 3 years since our original booking due to covid. The place is beautiful, apartments are lovely, staff are very friendly. When we booked the apartments were listed as 3* but have since gone down to 2*. We expected entertainment of an evening - there was none! Disappointing when you have a child with you. The rooms are non smoking, which is fine, but you are not even allowed to smoke on the balcony, so no matter what time day or night if you wanted a smoke you had to go down to a designated area outside reception which was approx 6ft sq. We had to go down separately to smoke as we had a child with us, and obviously couldn't leave her in the room alone. Nobody informed us of this prior to the holiday. And also be aware that you can't smoke on the beach either. The lack of entertainment for us was a real downer as was the fact you couldn't even sit in the pool bar, enjoy a drink and a cigarette at the same time.

Honest review No air con, which we knew anyway so hired a fan.. The bedding gets changed once a week so if you are here for two weeks you only get fresh bedding once.. I know this because we had to ask for more sheets at reception. If you are here for a week you don’t get a change of bedding at all, and when u have no air con and sweaty every night it’s really not good.
I emailed the hotel prior to booking this trip to specifically ask if there was enough parasols for the sun loungers, I was assured there was… this is not true there are currently 28 beds with no parasols and you can’t move any unused ones as they are fixed… really annoyed with this because we have to now keep going to the beach and hiring parasols down there…all the parasols are fixed around the edge so all the beds in the middle have no shade…
Reception lady is super lovely and helpful…
The rooms are lovely and spacious and the beds are very comfy but my advice is to bring your own pillow..
If you are lucky enough to get a sun lounger as the are all reserved by about 7 am and no one on them For hours, some people even reserved them from 7 am until they returned from the beach at 3.30pm absolutely shocking.
I have stayed here many years ago but unfortunately will not be returning to this hotel again, you literally have to hire everting from a remote control to a kettle, now in all the years that I’ve been holidaying in self catering hotels never once have I had to hire a kettle they come standard as a self catering utensil.. but you do however get toilets rolls haha.
Overall the hotel is basic and clean but in my opinion needs more bed changing and needs more parasols and no reserving of beds at stupid o’clock

Dear Ladymstokiebird, First of all, we would like to apology for all the inconvenient you could experiment at your stay. We put new bedsheets on the first day of stay of our guests and the change is every 7 days for everyone. Besides, if you need a change before, there is no any problem in asking for new sheets at the reception. We are sorry if the system was not as you expected. On the other hand, suddenly we have experimented a high occupation, so we have had some inconvenients with the sunbeds. Besides, we would like to clarify that is forbidden to reserve any sunbeds. if our staff is aware of the situation, removes the towels from it. Anyways, we would like to say sorry about this situation too. We always try to give the best service to our clients. For last, we would like to apology for the extra costs as well. We are a 2 key apartment, so our working system and our politics are different from a conventional hotel. All the extra costs are especified at our webpage or at other booking platforms. We are just back from a 9 day stay 4 adults and 2 children, the staff are so lovely, the friendliest in all the places we have stayed. The rooms are cleaned every other day, and the place in general is spotless clean. Rooms are a little dated, but the price does reflect this, and we only used the rooms for sleeping and dressing. The pool area is gorgeous and so clean, we didn’t have an issue with sun beds, there was no reserving before 9am, nor was there a charge for Jacuzzi as other posts here have suggested. The food and drink in the pool bar is great and well priced. There is a little shop on site with the basics snacks and drink and the spar is only a 2 minute walk. The location is amazing, it’s only a short walk to the beach, and there’s a bus stop right outside. It was only €4 for a taxi to Puerto Rico. It’s worth bearing in mind you can’t get a 5 star hotel for the cost of a 2 star, and this place well exceeded our expectations for the cost, I would pay it for the location alone.. We had read some recent reviews and were worried arriving but honestly we had the best holiday, 100% we will be back soon.

We traveled as a couple 30th July until 6th august. We had done our homework so knew what to expect. We arrived quite late in the day but the bar was still open where we ordered 2 beers and 2 pizzas, which were delicious!! Prior to arrival I had emailed the room to ask for a particular room, with a great view and Dunia, the lovely lady on reception had allocated this to us. For which we were grateful. She really is a lovely lady and I honestly don’t understand why people would say differently in other reviews. I was brought up to believe that if you want treated nicely you ought to treat others nicely, which could perhaps have been the issue? We hired a fan, again we knew there was no aircon when we booked so no problem. We are both smokers, so the rule about no smoking on the balcony was a bit disappointing but it certainly wasn’t worthy of all the complaints. Everywhere you go in the UK has designated smoking areas and also have notices in hotels about being fined if found to be smoking in the room. So I honestly don’t know what some of the other reviewer’s problem is!! Our room was spotless, the beds, the bedding and pillows included. Beds were very comfortable as was the rest of the apartment. It had everything we needed and the housekeepers came in at least every other day to make/change the beds, change the towels and have a good clean/sweep/mop through. Myself and my husband spoke to Dunia about booking direct next time, which we will and we will continue to return for many years to come. I found all the staff lovely and friendly. The communal areas and pools were clean and tidy. And I didn’t see one single cockroach!! Lack of WiFi was not a problem as we don’t go away to sit on our phones. Lovely place, beautiful location!! I wish I was back there!! Lovely spacious apartments in a very good location. All equipment provided, cleaned every other day with fresh towels. 2mins walk to beach and all seafront restaurants. We booked B&B so had breakfast from the onsite snack bar (not a restaurant) which was very good. If u dont fancy the long coach ride from the airport as it's the last drop off we pre booked a taxi which was €60 return and well worth it as it took less than 30mins. All in all an excellent holiday in a great appt.
