Detailed Reviews
Rented three rooms for two weeks. Old (but big) apartments rooms, that could have needed an upgrate. I give it 3* because the distance to beach was very short and with nice view, still the staff were not very helpful and cleaning was often not done properly and towels were only changed two times a week. When we arrived I also noticed that bedsheets was dirty and the next cleaning day was in two days. It is nice for staying but not give any Ā«hotelĀ» feeling. Long (but nice walk) to puerto rico city which is approx. 20-25 min to walk.

My first bit of advice is if you're coming to Puerto Rico 'proper', don't. Go to Amadores to avoid noise, traffic (but see below) and the usual congestion of tourism gone wild. Walk the pedestrian path along the sea if you need night life, bigger shops, more restaurants, etc. that Puerto Rico has to offer. Among other things, the beach in Puerto Rico is a postage stamp compared to the one at Amadores, with lots of harbor traffic to boot.
We stayed in Apartamentos Amadores Beach 1-8 Nov 2014. The location near the beach (3 min walk) is fantastic. And the beach is superlative. It has proper sand (not volcanic gravel) and is kept clean and well managed (no radios blaring or peddlers). As Amadores has been carved out of the end of a ravine like all the other resorts on the southern coast of Gran Canaria, all the other hotels in the area are as far away from the beach vertically as they are horizontally, which means if you leave your clifftop hotel, you have to make a day out of it on the beach. At Apartamentos Amadores Beach you can go for morning and evening swims, a nice run/walk to Puerto Rico for a second coffee, etc.
Do some serious street- and satellite-view googling. We got lucky as to the location - great picture of the beach - without googling
Another plus was that Amadores in general and Apartamentos Amadores Beach in particular have no night life. Soundproofing is negligible, especially when everything is tiled, so it's nice not to have neighbors coming home at 3 to crash or continue festivities. After varying luck in Greece, we also appreciated the fact that Apartamentos Amadores Beach has no pool bar or restaurant, with plinky music and increasingly loud/inebriated Brits under the balcony from 9 am-10 pm. There are plenty of restaurants out of earshot along the beach and in Puerto Rico and a great Indian restaurant across the street (Memsaab Fusion). Btw, this last was the best deal we found: reasonable prices, spectacular service and even live music.
BUT there were several disappointing things that we would weigh against the ideal location if we think of going back.
The first is the noise from the road (GC-500), which is a very busy two-lane highway. It peels around the cliffs right opposite the hotel and "boom", you get the noise on your balcony. It then goes right behind the hotel, with the buses, trucks and cars all shifting to lower gear for the hill. This was 10-20 meters from our room, which was on the left-hand end of the second (top) tier of apartments, no doubt the worst location. The traffic dies down at night and I was able to sleep with ear plugs but the noise is pretty much constant from 6 am to 9 pm. But maybe I am just old and crochety and very sensitive to noise... In any case, this was enough to make me wonder how on earth our tour operator (Finnmatkat) could possibly have given the place a four 'F' (= star) rating and charged the corresponding price. Also, the air conditioning (not needed fortunately) and wi-fi were not free, which is ridiculous in a hotel with such a rating. There was free wi-fi in the lobby but they didn't have the bandwidth for Skyping.
The apartment itself was ok, but in the mornings there was a distinct smell of chlorine/sewage and perhaps smog?. For whatever reason, it seemed worse at our height and was not confined to the hotel property, since I noticed it at a bus stop and minimarket just across the highway. The kitchen appliances had seen better days The shower stall had no curtain and a very sahllow bottom, so the bathroom floor was flooded (and slippery).
These shortcomings are sad, because the people (staff) were all great and very helpful.

We stayed in the hotel for 2 days, after staying for a week in low-key Riu Hotel Vistamar. The apartment was shown to us by a very friendly receptionist prior to moving in, everyone was very understanding when it came to late checkout (they let us go at 4 PM instead of midday!). There are 2 swimming pools, both with jacuzzi option and deckchair. They have the have the best location in the Amadores Beach area, the view and size of the balcony is stunning. There is a great Spar down the road, where you can buy real Spanish food (which you will not get in mass catering Clubhotels, you'll see loads of disgruntled Clubhotel people shopping there too, fed up...). There is an amazing footpath to Puerto Rico (where the beach is like the ugly sister of Playa Amadores). My two children aged 8 and 9 loved it. The blankets are so fresh and clean and spotless, stunning. Highly recommended. Free internet in the reception too. Best you can get, and the first ones here too (check the photos behind the reception!).

I had high hopes for my upcoming stay at this hotel, but unfortunately, my experience before my booking day left me deeply disappointed. As I was in the area and eager to see the facilities, I kindly asked to visit the swimming pool and the room I had reserved in advance. Shockingly, the hotel staff outright refused my request, which left me feeling uneasy and suspicious.
In my opinion, a hotel that is confident in its offerings should have no qualms about showcasing its amenities to potential guests. Denying a simple pre-booking visit gave me the impression that they might be trying to hide something.
As a result of this disappointing encounter, I have made the decision to cancel my booking. I believe it's essential for guests to feel welcomed and assured about their choice of accommodation. Regrettably, this hotel did not meet my expectations in that regard.
I hope my feedback helps other potential guests in making informed decisions when considering their stay here. Transparency and openness should be paramount in the hospitality industry, and I hope the hotel takes this constructive criticism to heart for future improvements.

Stayed at these apartments for 1 week at the beginning of April, husband myself and 17 year old son. The rooms are well equipped for a weeks self catering holiday, the kitchen area is more than adequate and so good to find a freezer available to use and a toaster too. The room on the first floor was light and airy and kept beautifully clean. Our beds were very comfortable as was the sofa bed. The balcony overlooked the lovely beach of Amadores and got the sun from around 11 am until sunset, we spent happy evenings watching the sun go down whilst enjoying a glass or two of Sangria. The reception staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and treated you as a friend which was lovely. The pool area is perfectly adequate for the size of the Apartaments, (there are only 49) and again kept beautifully clean and never getting too busy. The gardens are tended with care (as the lawn was cut, the gardener then went on to sprinkle fertilizer down) and hoovered up all grass cuttings etc. The only negative aspect about the place was that the Wi-fi connection was fairly poor, although the pc in reception was free so said 17 year old was able to Facebook for a short while in the evenings for no cost. Would we go back there? You bet, already thinking of booking up for next year. Love the place. Thanks to all the staff who maintain a wonderful place.

Our little family (the parents and our 6 months old baby) stayed here for a week late December 2010 - early January 2011. If youāre heading for Amadores or Puerto Rico, this is probably one of the better offers, especially as it is so close to the beach. The coast is rather steep at Amadores, so any hotel located further away from the beach will entail a steep walk.
It was a nice stay: a great view, a good location and ok rooms. After Amadores, we stayed a week in a hotel in Puerto de Mogan, which in general is a much more interesting destination, but for sheer relaxation on the beach, Amadores is fine.
The apartment complex is the most centrally situated in Amadores, 2 minutes from the lovely beach. The view from our terrace was very good; all rooms have a beautiful sunset view. The beach itself is nice, lined with a somewhat anonymous row of restaurants and shops. Puerto Rico is only about 15 min. walk away along a stunning walkway on the cliffs. There is a small Spar-supermarket 5 min away. There is no night life to speak of, which suited us fine (no noise), but you could probably find it in Puerto Rico. There was a little noise from the road, but nothing to keep us awake.
The complex has a nice pool and a small childrenās pool. In general the facilities are ok and reasonably kept, but not very modern of flashy. The apartment itself was somewhat smallish, and the bath tub in the bathroom made very little sense, as the heater for hot water only allowed for to short hot showers. The terrace was both the big plus ā because of the view ā but also the most run-down part of the apartment.

Excellent, modern, clean self catering apartments overlooking Playa Amadores. Despite reports otherwise, kettle and toaster are included. The balconies all have sea views and are ideal for watching the sunset. The resort, however, has no real nightlife, there are no bars and although you can drink in the restaurants, most shut at 11pm. Puerto Rico, which has plenty of bars, is a 10 minute taxi ride costing around 4 euros.

This apartment hotel is located very close to the beautiful Amadores beach. 5 minutes walking from the beach and 15 minutes walking from Puerto Rico. Remeber that Amadores is located in a valley and most hotels are situated on top of the steep hills. With this location, you don't need to worry about shuttles or taxi to the beach or to Puerto Rico shopping center. Staff is helpful, clean rooms, and free parking. Rooms are boring and dark, but includes all you need. Beds are lousy and my back ached every morning. A bit noisy from the close road to Puerto Rico. Balcony with OK view over the beach. Pool area is average. On their web site, they say that Wifi Internet is included and free, but in reality connections are really bad or do not exist at all. At one occasion, staff told me to try to connect to another hotel Wifi (which didn't work). I think it's a bit too pricy for what you get, but if you value the location, then it's probably the most reasonably rates this close to the Amadores beach. If you're thinking about hiring a car, look for better hotel deals. Cars can be rented at a very good price on the airport. I rented a 4-door Ford Focus with AC for 10 days at EUR 130 from Holiday Autos. Much higher rates if you rent a car at the hotels.
