So this is it, Masks to be worn in shops and at bar. Sun beds not to be moved must face one direction and no inflatables. Thats the rules simply follow them rules and you’ll have a great holiday like ourselves, that’s all she had to tell us.
Most restaurants are starting to re open in august around the Eden, but there are a few just behind in the europa centre. Don’t get me started this place is chav central and full of drug dealers offering you anything you want which is a pain once I say no I don’t expect to be asked every time I go down there. Personally I would stay away unless that’s your cup of tea. Get a taxi to Amadores or Mogan Mall in Puerto Rico both have lovely places to eat, €5 by taxi.
Rooms were lovely clean and modern with great balcony having two sun beds and table and chairs which were great for when it was too hot for kids. late afternoons we could chill and they could sit in cool room. Ceiling fans in both rooms to keep room bearable but a little tip is to take a couple of mini fans which worked for us, or pay for air conditioning.
Nice clean pool area with adequate sun loungers. Bar a little expensive for drinks but supermarkets very cheap indeed for alcohol. Seating area to watch sun set was excellent. Adults terrace on top which unfortunately for us was closed while we visited. Once again not told about this-on arrival.
Would of given 5 out of 5 if reception was more informative on arrival and if europa centre cleaned itself up! All in all this hotel is a great retreat and in a great spot and great value for money!
Yes, in many ways it’s a lovely place. The rooms are spacious, clean and fairly newly decorated. It’s the same in the communal areas where staff were constantly cleaning and keeping the place as good as it can be.
The reception staff are totally different and reminded me of Faulty Towers. They want your money, just don’t want to provide a service! As said in other reviews, we were given no information on check in other than the directions to the room. We didn’t even know you could upgrade to All Inclusive until about 3 days into our holiday. If you do need to interact with reception during your stay, get used to hearing negativity such as “you must be joking”, “no chance”, “speak to your rep” and tutting when asking for simple things like the wifi code.
The food in the restaurant was OK as were the drinks from the bar. However, with the likes of Bitburger, Stella, San Miguel in the shop beneath the complex for a little over €1 a pint, and plenty of restaurants close by to choose from, why would you go All Inclusive?
A word of warning, be careful when booking rooms! We had upgraded our room to a two-bedroom apartment (56). With the Pandemic, we were happy to sit on our balcony and enjoy the sun. Unfortunately, we were facing onto a wall, 20 feet below the road (see photos). All two bedroom apartments are on the ground floor and all the better 1 bedrooms are on the top floor. If I went again, I would book a one bed and ask to upgrade when I got there. I would then check the room we were moving to first to see if it’s OK and once I was happy, pay the difference. The complex was only about 40% full, so we asked to move, but it took 2 days and numerous trips to reception!
The surrounding area is not great and not for people with walking difficulties. The Europa Centre reminds me of Magaluf in the 80s. We flew in before the Air Bridge with Spain was closed again and not all restaurants were open. Those that were, were OK if you are looking for British food. However, there is more chance of finding a decent Tapas in Blackpool that Puerto Rico.
At the end of our stay, we were told that we couldn’t keep our room until we left and needed to vacate by 12:00, even though we were not being picked up until 6:20pm. In addition, the courtesy room wasn’t available and we couldn’t use the showers because there was no-one to disinfected them between families. On our day of departure, we were in the lobby early to take advantage of the air-con. While we were there, three buses arrived to pick up Jet2 customers. In total around 20 couples/families boarded and all but one other family had been able keep their room! Pay back?
There is so much more I could have mentioned for instance arriving to the aftermath of a mass brawl involving young male guests at the complex. Loud, drunk. obnoxious guests playing loud music to 4am, neither of which were dealt with at all by the complex.
The views were stunning but unless you are prepared to take a taxi everywhere other than the Europa centre you are rather stuck as although we did walk down to both Amadores and Puerto Rico we only did it once as our legs couldn’t cope and it was slippery!!
We were glad that we went self catering as the AI selection didn’t seem very inspiring- we sampled it on our first night.
We would definitely return to Gran Canaria but will probably find a hotel in Puerto de Mogán where we can walk everywhere.
Rooms were lovely and fresh. 2 bedroom as a double bed (not 2 singles pushed together) and very spacious wardrobe. Other room has 2 very small singles (children’s beds). 2 bedrooms are located on ground floor so our ‘balcony’ area was shaded but it was a nice space with 2 beds and table and chairs. Kitchen area is modern. With basic amenities. Would be perfectly fine for SC. Rooms are cleaned every 2 days and same with towels. Cleaners are lovely as are all the staff. From bar/restaurant staff to reception.
Special mention to entertainment staff as they were fantastic and worked tirelessly it seemed. Pools are clean and well maintained. Onsite supermarket is fabulous and reasonably priced.
Lastly is the location. I wasn’t aware of just high up the Eden was. Views are amazing but it’s a good 30 minute walk down and can be slippy. However, it’s a lovely opportunity to see the spectacular views and once down a taxi ride back up is 3/4 euros.
Wouldn’t hesitate to return to Eden but would most likely return self catering as the area has so much to offer and can easily spend the day/night down at beach side bars & restaurants as well.
Food and drink areas are completely Covid safe areas and I would totally recommend this place for anybody worried about coming abroad. It helps that there are not too many people here.
I would go as far as to say that Eden Apartments I feel safer here than in the UK !
The only problem is for me that the pool area is VERY loud... lots of different types of music playing at once, it’s 8pm and when you are trying to relax on the balcony it’s very loud still !!
The hotel itself is pretty good with a great pool, nice bar area and decent all inclusive restaurant with plenty of selection.
The on site shop contained everything you could probably want and wasn't ridiculously overpriced.
The rooms themselves were a bit basic, the linen in particular could do with replacing as it was all very 'worn', although it was clean. The shower also seemed to go all over the bathroom floor no matter what so I actually found myself mopping it up half the time!
The TV was very hit or miss with only a couple of English channels that didn't have a signal half the time... Not a huge issue as I don't go away to watch TV but it's nice to put it on for 10 minutes to keep the kids quiet while getting ready :)
Location wise you are right next to the 'Europa Centre' which has about a dozen restaurants/bars, shops and a good outdoor 'soft play' with pool tables, trampolines and plenty of entertainment.
It is at the top of a hill overlooking the main beach so a fair old walk but a taxi is only about 4 Euro's.
One big issue is that there are really not enough Taxi's about and 90% of them refuse to have passengers in the front seat, which I presume is due to Covid, so if you have 4 of you it becomes even harder getting a taxi. Oddly enough this seems to be more of a Mogan issue(green and white taxi's) as when I went to Maspalomas(red and white taxi's) I had no problems.
I definitely recommend pre-booking them rather than waiting at the nearby Taxi Rank at Europa Centre.
Unfortunately, no entertainment or kids club was on due to Covid so I can't really comment on that.
Anyone looking for a beach, I would highly recommend the Amadores beach over the more obvious Playa Del Ingles. It is a much nicer beach with better facilities and a bit less 'tacky'.
The staff on site were all very good and nothing was too much trouble for them.
Overall, a good hotel with a decent location and facilities but the rooms are a little basic and tired
The balcony had two sun-beds and a table and chair with an umbrella, a cleaner came in each day to sweep, mop change towels make the beds and clean the sides down. The kitchen had everything you would need if you was half board or self catering with a big fridge and freezer. A small shop I’d by the entrance of the hotel and reasonable prices.
We had a few stairs to climb for our apartment but most are easy to access, the pool was very big, the deepest part is under the bridge and although it was heated we had a few cool days where we felt it was to cold to sunbathe. We found the adult only pool to be in another area where you needed a card to get in and out of a gate. But the hotel has plenty of sun-beds and space for lots to people.
We stayed all inclusive for the first time and it was fantastic, they had a good range of food a buffet style serving, and themed nights for the evening meal, they also offered snacks throughout the day and plenty of drinks to pick from. Breakfast had a section of English bacon and sausage (full English breakfast) and then the continental section, cakes waffles and pancakes and fresh fruit available all day. The one night I was disappointed with was the British food they had a lot of fish dishes that night, gammon, chicken or beef stew, with it being Sunday we was expecting more of a carvery on offer. But the food was still very nice, And labels are above each dish.
We found the cocktails from the bar to be better then the machine ones and for other cocktails off the menu you can get a discount so they only cost 2.50€ for all inclusive adults . They also offer a new band to anyone that’s broken their or feels it’s the wrong size .
the seating is separated between the area where the food is and another undercover area I’ve the bridge where they have entertainment each night, the rock show was our favourite and Disney comedy show was the lest favourite out of what we saw at the hotel, during the day they had sports on tv and did a few games of bingo in the afternoon and some evenings, we won 115€ one afternoon so good prices for 5€ on tickets. The pens and mats are available to use.
Overall the hotel has a family friendly feel to it, all the staff are kind and friendly and their was a good mix of British, Scottish and Scandinavian people their during our stay. A very relaxed atmosphere here and a good vale for money.
Location wise We was on a hill top but it’s not from a small shopping centre with bars, restaurants and shops, to access the bottom of hill it has a lot of steps to walk down but they are easy to walk on if you go ata a steady pace,
