I’m quite fussy about where I stay but I must say this place was very good , the staff are very helpful, always smiling saying hello and are only too happy to help with anything , my gf is a vegetarian and the chef and head waiters were more than accommodating to her needs .
The rooms are spotless , towels and bedding regularly changed , permanent lifeguard round the pool, plenty of sunbeds too.
The hotel is situated up on a hillside with a nice 10min stroll down to Almorades beach which is beautiful, a lot less busier than Peurto Rico the next bay around and sunbeds are only €4 each all day .
There’s a FREE coach every hour from the hotel that takes you round to Peurto Rico and will pick you up at quarter past every hour from there too .
I would definitely recommend this hotel , if I had one bad thing to say it was that the beds were so hard , we did mention it to reception but they said it’s because they’re new .

This hotel has amazing rooms, views and staff but..
We were lucky to have the choice of balcony or terrace and were glad we chose a room with a balcony ( no people walking past your front door at all hours of the day and night). The rooms are exceptionally well equipped yet you do not get complimentary tea / coffee etc. Whilst we stayed AI this wasnt a problem and took some coffee along any way.
The pool area is nice but.. we didnt spend any time around the pool. Went for a few dips and had the wrath of the Lifeguard on more than one occasion. " you must remove your lilo from the pool / around the pool when not using it). There are plenty of sun beds and brollys and there is no towel hoarding @ 5am.
As vapers we felt ( as did many of the guests) like pariahs being sent to the smoking / adults only area for a vape. This meant we did not join in with any of the entertainment as it was in the no smoking / vaping zone around the pool. This is not a enforcable law (as we discovered last year in fuertuventura) and it would have been nice if we were allowed to vape / smoke in a certain area near the pool / entertainment. Would it stop me going back? YES. We spent our evenings on our Balcony enjoying the view and did not partake in any entertainment for that reason. Never met Jamie. Sadly our balcony was under the smoking area so we had people looking over and flicking ash on our balcony every day. Every night there was Bingo, a form of entertainment and then Karaoke ( my worst nightmare! @ 10.45pm)
The food was very hit and miss and whilst im sure no one will go hungry it was not for us. Lots of people were very happy with the food. All inclusive self service drinks were a great idea yet got abused @ 8am by certain guests who felt it was thier right to have a lot to drink from 8 am to 11pm. Maybe dont offer Bucks fizz @ 8am!
The hotel is certainly biased towards Spanish tourists which made us question whether our dollar was worth as much as thiers?
Personally i felt the area was a bit like Benidorm with a beautiful cove full of hotels as far as the eye can see.. Too commercial for us.
If you want a cheap break with lovely weather, dont smoke, dont want entertainment for your kids and dont mind coughing up for taxis.. this is the place to go. If you want culture, history and peace and quiet.. book elsewhere.
On a final note all of the staff couldnt have been more helpful and were always smiling.

We stayed at this hotel for 12 night early September 21’.
Positives
Our junior suite was on the top floor with a balcony. I had contacted the hotel prior to departure & requested a balcony rather than a terrace which they honoured.
The room & & balcony were spacious, very clean, as were the facilities, with comfy beds and brilliant air con.
I must mention Isabel, our lovely friendly maid. She always cleaned our room very well & did extras touches, e.g putting any dishes away that were on the draining board. Thank you Isabel.
All of the staff we met in all areas were so friendly. Unfortunately I didn’t know many of their names but everyone including all the restaurant staff, reception, maintenance men & lifeguards were all so friendly & helpful & carried out their tasks with great efficiency, they are all a credit to the hotel.
We enjoyed the varied food immensely, in fact too much. My waistline has suffered greatly!
Negatives
We chose this hotel as, when we booked, the hotel was advertised as having an adult only area with it’s own bar & whirlpools. We paid a supplement so we could take advantage of these features.
Much to our dismay, these features had been removed.
We were not informed of this until the day after we had arrived which was very disappointing as we would not have booked if we had known that the ‘features’ wouldn’t be available. This had a great impact on our holiday.
Don’t be mistaken, we are not child haters, however we are aged 50+ with grown up children so tranquil lazy days are what we prefer now.
The bar closed at 10pm. This is extremely early considering the restaurant is open until 9.30pm.
Outside seating is also limited. Many people would be sat around on sun beds as there were not enough tables & chairs, and this with the hotel only being half full I find it difficult to imagine what it would be like when full.
The one & only night we decided to remain by the bar was not the nicest experience.
Understandably there was a rush at the bar to ‘stock up’ before it closed. Mayhem springs to mind. The bar area was then plunged into darkness when all of the lights were switched off.
Because of this we ate early every night, still in our day wear and retired to our room to enjoy a drink on our balcony away from the said mayhem.
There was no ‘advertised’ entertainment whatsoever.
In all honesty, we did have a nice holiday, however, on a personal note, it could have been so much nicer. We begrudgingly made adaptations to what we would normally do to more suit us.
With us both being key workers and working excessively all through the pandemic we were relishing what we had anticipated, unfortunately this is not what we got.
On that basis, we would not return as the hotel did not provide what we were expecting and hoping for.

Dear guest, Thank you for choosing hotel Altamadores for your holidays and the time spent sharing your review in Tripadvisor. We are glad to read that during your stay in Altamadores you were satisfied with our spacious rooms, facilities and the food. We want to thank you for your special comments regarding to our staff and especially to Isabel, we will send your greetings to her. On the other hand we regret we couldn´t satisfy you this time completely. We have been in contact with you personally regarding this incident but we would like to apologize you once more that the information you got was not updated to the current situation - we can understand your frustration. The hotel was long time closed due the covid pandemic and we opened earlier than we were supposed. To meet up with the restrictions and rules established by Spanish law, we had to modify our services in order to offer safe holidays for all our guests. Therefore we applied changes for example in the restaurant timetables, entertainment and the adult zone area. However all these changes were not informed properly in advance in our collaborating agencies´ which by now we have taken in control. Little by little we are getting back to the normality and reinitiating the old activities. Best regards, Hotel Altamadores

I can't rate this hotel enough, spotless spacious rooms with air con, helpful friendly staff, all inclusive food had so much choice we found something we liked each meal time full English breakfast was a favourite for us 😋 location is high up but no problem walking down to the beach in around 15 mins just need taxis to get back up the hill but the views more than made up for that, taxis reasonable prices too. In a quieter area a little bit further away from bars and restaurants but 5 euros in a taxi will get you there, staff happy to ring one in reception such a relaxing chilled out hotel. Already looking at prices for next year!

We only stayed at this place because of the great reviews it had on trip advisor! (All inclusive) We arrived at 10.35pm and were told that there was some food outside the restaurant (more a canteen) for us. A stale ham sandwich and a plum?? I feared the worse.
We chose this time of year because we thought it would be a little quieter than the school holidays, and the first two days it was! Until the lifts broke at the sister hotel and they moved them here!! It was hectic.
The room was clean and basic (shower door would not stay closed and was very grubby) TV did not work although was repaired the next day( only bbc and sky news in English) wifi did not work ( but was repaired the next day) walls in all rooms were extensively marked and dirty other than that the place was clean and the cleaners did a good job!
All inclusive??????
Had to pay €10 for safe?
Had to pay €3 for every change of pool towels?
Pool was ok but a little small and was always covered by an attendant who was very good.
Furniture in the canteen was very mis matched and tacky
( like something you would get on a car boot sale) tables and chairs had stoppers missing of legs so were rocky not safe for hot drinks!!
Staff in canteen were good and tried their best.
Food was canteen style and of a poor standard, they ran out of things very quickly. After day one we chose not to eat there and ate out at great expense! Salad was basic and poor standard. There were lots of flies in the canteen and watching them constantly land on food really put you of trying it ( they had no equipment to control the flies?)
None of the fruit juice was fresh all watered.
You helped yourself to the beer in small plastic cups ( so it was always busy) the spirits were local and mostly unpalatable.
The entertainment was actually quite good but it was outside the canteen and there was never enough room to accommodate the show and the people watching.
It was €30 to keep your room after 12 on your last day.
We did not have a rep on site but emailed the TUI rep everyday with issues. Jet2 had a rep on site.
TUI offered €200 vouchers as compensation - still to receive these. This equates to €50 each, about 7%.
Would I recommend this place, a blind man in a galloping horse would not stop there.

I travel a lot and I need to say this hotel offers an astonishing value for money.
We arrived around midnight and were served with yummy supper which included freshly made delicious salad, sandwiches and fruit. That was trully unique.
Rooms are spacious and clean with lovely balconies.
Just one thing happened to me, which was quite surprising: I got an allergy reaction to the bedding. I am only allergic to rabbits as far as I know. I simply covered the pillow with my own blanket and since that, I had no problems. Just little advice to the manager: maybe search for anti-allergen detergents etc.
All hotel staff is so nice, professional and helpful. My son had a birthday and I only asked in the morning of that day if he could have something prepared. The cake he was served with was so beautiful and yummy I couldn't believe it. My boy was so happy, and that was all organised with no extra charge.
Special thanks to the reception staff, bar staff and both lifeguards.
The whole hotel is always super clean. Pool area including tables were always hygienic and I have never spotted any random rubbish anywhere. I was there during Easter weekend, and the hotel was extremely busy.
I really enjoyed, how the selection of food is being managed. There is medium variety every day, although the food quality is truly amazing and every evening there are different themes. Lovey barbeque offers the best peppercorn sauce I have eaten in my life. The only little downside: no live cooking apart from barbecue evenings. Fantastic steaks during lunch time though.
I don't usually go twice to the same hotel, but who knows I may come back. It really was a proper relaxing holiday.
Thank you so much.

Our 4th visit to Altamadores and we had a fantastic time. There were 7 of us over 3 apartments which were all spotless, cleaned with fresh towels daily except Sunday, spacious with bedroom and living area separate where my 21 and 12 year old slept which gave them some privacy as both areas had an external door onto the balcony/terrace. Tv in each room which delighted my mum who enjoyed keeping up with the soaps while getting ready for dinner. Plenty of sun beds but I would recommend getting down early when the hotel becomes busier. Good variety of daytime activities with Jamie who works extremely hard day and night tweaking activities/ quizzes to accommodate the range of nationalities and guests needs There was never any pressure to take part so if you are like me and enjoy chilling in the sun listening to music or a book or joining in with pool, darts, basketball, shuffleboard and the very popular splash bingo there is something for everyone. The food available was always plentiful offering a great variety of fresh items replenished regularly and the amazing staff work tirelessly to accommodate any requests The drinks are all self service which is great for the kids who like to pour their own and get their own food, ice cream or sweets giving the adults a break too. There’s a lovely little salon and shop where AndrAna offers a selection of holiday essentials, jewellery and treatments including shellac and has a hair braid lady who visits to. Evening entertainment included bingo with prizes up to 200 euros when we were there and a weekly link up with 2 other hotels which boosted the total up to 700 euros. We saw a variety of acts including a Whitney and other tribute acts, once upon a time who were brilliant, the Rock Show with Chris who is outstanding and the magic show which the kids enjoyed The hotel is located on the hill which is steep and challenging for those with limited mobility but taxis to the beach or up to the Europa centre where there are many bars and restaurants is 4 euros There are lots of ramps and lifts around the hotel and reception always try to accommodate every request. My only issue this year was the wifi didn’t work well in the main terrace area and I kept getting roaming charges which mounts up when there are 4 of us It worked fine in the room and we did see engineers working on it but it continued. Overall we all had a brilliant holiday and have booked again for 2025.

Responded 16 Aug 2024
Dear Weegiecaz, Thank you so much for your detailed and glowing review! We are absolutely thrilled to hear that your 4th visit to Altamadores was another fantastic experience for you and your family. It’s wonderful to know that the spacious, spotless apartments met your needs, and that your 21 and 12-year-olds enjoyed the privacy of their own space. We’re glad your mum appreciated the TVs in each room, and that there were plenty of sunbeds and activities to keep everyone entertained. Jamie will be so pleased to hear that his hard work made a positive impact on your stay, especially with the activities and quizzes tailored to suit all guests. Whether relaxing or getting involved, it sounds like there was something for everyone! It’s fantastic to know that the food, drinks, and self-service options were a hit with both adults and kids alike, giving everyone a bit of freedom. We’re also happy that you enjoyed the salon, shop, and evening entertainment, including the tribute acts and the popular bingo nights. We appreciate your feedback about the Wi-Fi on the terrace and are glad to hear that the connection in your room was better. We will continue working on improvements to ensure a smoother experience next time. We’re so excited that you’ve already booked again for 2025! Thank you for choosing Altamadores year after year, and we can’t wait to welcome you back for another brilliant holiday! Warm regards, Guest Experience.

We came here in 2019 for two weeks and loved it so much that for 2020 we booked 3 weeks unfortunately covid hit and we finally returned this June 22. Now although some things had slightly changed u adjust. High praise goes to the staff who are the nicest I’ve ever met and I have been on holiday many a time to many different places. The cleanliness is 10/10 and food is varied my partner is very very fussy but he ate 3 meals a day I also emailed the hotel previous about my disability and they went above to make sure I got the floor I requested including a disabled shower. Now just a heads up there is no longer smoking around the pool area or outside restaurant seating but there is a designated smoking area which took a couple of days for us to get used to but it turned out to be a good thing. As I said it turned an unsociable habit into a sociable one thru all the different people u meet. Now there is one downside there is only one set of toilets on the pool/restaurant are and these are the pool toilets which I’m unfortunately sorry to say are very dangerous as u have to go down a short steep slope into the entrance and inside especially during the day are very very wet. For an able bodied person this is very dangerous but even more so for someone like me who needs a walking aid. They did have another set of toilets on that level previous but due to covid had to be removed.I do advise u Altamadores please look to providing more toilets and some safety measures in the existing ones.I
Would also like the entertainment to be a little bit different, when u have been b4 and it is repeated it doesn’t encourage u to not want to watch again. But please don’t be offended I understand u have just came out of covid restrictions but maybe for next year? Now I will end on a positive note we have booked again for June 23 this time for 4 weeks so really look forward to seeing u all again in a years time

Arrived on Sunday, advised by reception to go and eat before restaurant closed at 21:00. 1st impressions very good as though close to closing excellent selection and variety of food still available. Staff served us with drinks at our table, having seen us arrive last minute.
Both white and red wines good. Great selection of spirits though my wife and I only had the gin which was good. This hotel has a self service bar so within the all inclusive hours you could get what you like yourself or the staff would serve you if required. There was also a cocktail menu available with all the classics on it👍
Food was excellent for all 3 meal times. Good selection with there being a different theme most nights from Mexican/ Spanish/ bbq/ Indian/ Thai/ Chinese. Also a grill operating for fish/ chicken/ meat. This was one of the only times the food on an all inclusive has not felt repetitive!
Out room was very clean but I think just needed a tidy up with a lick of paint in the rooms and bathroom. Shower was an excellent rain head type, with large cubicle. The apartment had a kitchenette with kettle/ oven/ hob/ microwave and toaster if required. Out the front you had an area to sunbathe (2 sun beds) a 4 seater table and chairs and a lounge garden type sofa on your private terrace.
The pool area had plenty of sun beds/ parasols. Pool was a lot warmer than others I have been in this time of year as it was heated. Bar area was close by for all drinks and snacks if required.
We used an area to the front which was an adults only area overlooking the bay/ beach. It was a nice and quiet area just to chill out.
There was a free shuttle coach to the beach and Porta Rica every hour if required, timetable on website.
The hotel is at the top of a very steep hill but you could use the shuttle coach or as we did a taxi was only €3-4 .

Just got back from here in 28/06, stayed for a week for my wife’s birthday. We arrived early hrs and given room with balcony, sunbeds etc. 1 bedroom apt with all you need, a/con and ceiling fans n bedroom and living room. Fantastic views, get the sun most of the day on your balcony or terrace. We have stayed in many nice hotels everywhere, from riu hotels, iberostar, bahia etc, can honestly say the food here was on a par with any of these, simply excellent, varied, showcooking etc, for those who have to have it, full cooked English as well as loads of other options for those who can actually go on holiday and try different things, excellent lunch, dinner, in between all of this there is burgers, pizza, salad, sandwiches etc available at snack bar, loads of deserts, chessboards etc, to be honest I could go on and on, would love to see just what the complainers eat at home to criticise, honestly, some people !, sunbeds!! Forget the usual amusing rush by some to get their perfect spot, u can get a sunbed at any time of day as there are loads, also a beautiful adults only terrace with artificial grass and stunning views of amadores beach again with loads of sunbeds, or if u can’t be bothered use your own in your balcony, terrace. There is a mini market on site or a spar just down the hill. Kids, kids pool, mini water flume area, tennis court, kids pitch, all very safe, entertainment, kids disco, bingo, quizzes, karaoke, and live acts, hotel entertainment manager really gives it his best, all inclusive, all spirits, tropical beer, all wines, cocktails sangria, baileys etc, all local brands, all self service , and really seems to work, people here, Uk families, Spanish, couples, all ages. Location, high up on hill overlooking bay, 15 min walk downhill to beach, u can also walk right round to Puerto Rico bay, beautiful walk, we walked back uphill every day but some may find this difficult, plenty taxi’s, 5 euro back up from beach. Europa centre just over hill, u can walk, which we did a few times, again, 5 euro taxi, centre has a few stores, family bars, good restaurants, also nice bars, restaurants, at Puerto Rico beach. We had a great week here, like to walk and get about to burn all the food!! Hotel advertise as 4 * jet2 give 3* plus, seems fair, staff fantastic, but for us, the food was simply fab. This place doesn’t cost a fortune, if u want a wee family holiday and like to stay in base to keep costs down then this hits all the spots, if u want a decent base to use the all inclusive but get out as well, again this hits the spot, give it a go, we will defo be returning, as does over 70% of the people who come here.
