We stayed for a short midweek Summer break. The Black Swan is a comfortable spacious hotel which rambles through adjoining buildings and encloses a lovely, unexpected garden, with tables and chairs. Our room was also comfortable and quite spacious with all the amenities one would hope for. Meals, taken in an attractive restaurant called "the gallery" with original paintings on...

We got married in the Black Swan Hotel. From planning to execution we couldn't praise the staff enough. Nicola and her team engaged in the process, every detail was covered from the menu, taster meal, recommending makeup, jukebox provider. Arranging safe storage of flowers and wedding cake. The day itself ran smoothly with minor musical technical hitches being overcome (mine,...

We went to the Black Swan with our friends for a midweek lunch. It was very pleasant sitting in the Black Swan lounge and we could have our lunch there without moving into the restaurant. The food was good if a little slow in coming and they managed to satisfy our friend who has quite a few dietary requirements.

Overlooking the market square, the hotel is perfectly located for exploring the nearby castle, walled gardens, art centre/theatre and the many local produce and craft shops. October was cold and wet but the warmth of the welcome matched the 'cosy' warmth of the hotel itself. The room was comfortable and well appointed with all the usual tea/coffee & mineral waters....

We have previously reviewed this wonderful hotel in the picturesque town of Helmsley, so this is by way of an up-date!! The head chef is relatively new, but he has certainly made his mark on the dinner menu. The starters, mains and desserts were absolutely delicious. Dining at the Black Swan is a tasting experience, fine-dining at its best, and...

Stayed here for a wedding. Unfortunately only for the evening reception. Our friends told us the restaurant is excellent! Hotel a little tired but I understand updating is underway so it can only get better.

Thought we would stop of on our visit to Helmsley to have a drink in the sun .husband went to the bar for a 250 ml glass of wine and a pint of lager . He came back and said my sauvighan blanc was ten pound a glass . I think this is ridiculas considering the bottle only costs 11...

Not the best hotel experience of late. It’s got character and a lovely garden and the service is very good but somehow The Black Swan disappoints. Our room was supposedly superior but it looked out over the car park and was a little gloomy, the mattress was cheap and bouncy and the bathroom starting to look a little tired. We...
