Traveled to this inn on June 20. It sits on top of a hill, surrounded by lush trees and singing birds. When we arrived late afternoon, we could hear someone inside the office, but no one answered the door. A car drove up while we were looking around; the person came to feed the

We were on our way to Puerto Rico this weekend and my appendix burst while visiting friends in Chicago. We called the Inn and explained the situation and that we had to cancel our entire trip while I underwent emergency surgery. They refused to consider any refund because our

This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Breakfast was almost never served. Halfway through our stay our room stopped being cleaned - we came back to our room to find that we were still out of toilet paper. I called and called and emailed (and of course knocked on

I love the area and had enjoyed stays here in years gone by. Both times I stayed there previously, it was much better kept. The pool was very dirty . The beds hard and the breakfast not good. Also there is a wrecked car covered by a tarp in parking lot. I would love to be

I was there in Feb of this year, and nary a mosquito the whole time. I was fully prepared to be swarmed but never saw/heard any and never put on bug stuff, not at the inn, not in the rain forest, not at the beaches. Very pleasantly surprised. As to cars, not a problem. The only place I would have needed a jeep as opposed to a regular rental was on vieques.

The inn is 15 minutes from Roosevelt Roads. I have found that the easiest and cheapest car rentals are at the airport (more competition) and I always use Priceline to save an extra 20%. But there are local rentals, and Pedro at the inn can help you with that (he and his staff are great on everything).

I had a tiny rental car (Toyota Picanto or something of the like) and managed to drive up and down the hill to Ceiba Inn without too much difficulty. It is rather dark and the roads are narrow but I agree with the other reviewers, if the taxi driver is familiar with the area it really shouldn't be a problem. You might want to consider renting a car if you can't find a taxi.

I was downstairs and the room had no view except of the lovely greenery outside the windows - but I could go a few steps outside or up to the patio and get all the view I wanted, so no problem. As for quiet, you should be prepared for the nocturnal singing of coquis. If you're looking for actual quiet, you won't find it in the rain forest. You'll find the glorious, gorgeous singing of coquis instead. It's what I went to Ceiba for, and boy did I get it! I didn't really notice any other noise, but there weren't many people there when I was. I think any noise beyond the frogs would be the result of inconsiderate neighbors, and you can't really predict where they'll be.
