Rene and Angus are great hosts. We enjoyed meeting them and staying in their BnB. Lovely and comfy bed and the room was well appointed with a gorgeous wee terrace to enjoy our drinks on after a big day of driving and exploring. Lyttleton is just gorgeous and we loved the view from the room. Ensuite is quirky albeit very...

What a find. Two nights and 3 days in wonderful Lyttleton. Our stay was made special by having the reassurance of peaceful quiet nights and the thrill of the elevated spectacular morning views. The made to measure cooked breakfast, the world's best honey and stunning fresh fruit salad made it a 10/10 experience. The hosts, The Macphersons are delightful and...

I spent 4 nights at this truly lovely B and B in Lyttelton. The accommodation is lovely, stylish and comfortable with all the amenities you could hope for. The house itself is very charming, the gardens are gorgeous and the setting is truly spectacular looking over the harbour. Lyttelton centre is walking distance, but requires some enthusiasm to get back...

Our Canadian friend is wrong. This is a fantastic place to stay. Rene and Angus welcome you unreservedly into their home. A home which they have lovingly and painstakingly remodelled and redesigned. It is a beautiful piece of work; still ongoing. The Rookery was not that easy to find but Rene had sent a good map to help. The views...

Very difficult location to get to. Small room should never be rented, barely room for the double bed, you have to leave suit case in another room. Small room has 2 doors one for each side of the bed !!! Also glass on doors have no curtains and look onto the hallway!!! quite pricey

Perched high above the bustling working harbour of Lyttelton, this gem of a B&B is just the ticket. Comfortable rooms, with magnificent views, make for a great stay.Breakfast was a cut above the rest, with fresh fruit and omelettes and coffee.

I'm sitting up in bed watching the day dawn over Lyttelton Harbour, a breathtaking view down below us, perched as we are in our room in the Rookery on our last day here. Rene and Angus have been excellent hosts, full of advice on places to visit and routes to take in and around Christchurch and the Banks Peninsula and...

Angus and Rene have an absolutely unique and beautiful home that they so graciously welcomed us into. The house exudes the creativity and style of its owners and sits on a hillside with an exquisite view. Our room was cozy and comfortable, and we slept like a dream after so 20+ hours of travel. We fully appreciated the delicious breakfast...

Our many thanks to Angus and Renee for a very memorable stay at the Rookery. It was worth the stay just to see the beautiful and creative restoration done by Angus. Our view of the harbor was exceptional and we appreciated the many details and thoughtfulness that went into the design of our room. We found Angus and Renee brilliant...

I am a reasonably experienced traveller and I go to New Zealand quite regularly. I have always parked myself at a four to five-star hotel but, since my last trip required me to spend a few days in Lyttleton near Christchurch, I booked at the Rookery. My experience with bed & breakfast establishments is thin - a pension near Amsterdam...
