Hard to describe how good this hotel is, but it’s certainly one of the best hotels we have stayed in and we travel extensively. The hotel is stunning, beautiful architecture and planting, the rooms are large, very clean and have everything you would need. I actually had tears in my eyes when I saw the pool area through the archway, it really was a wow moment. Location - peaceful area, quite isolated but that’s part of the appeal. Near to sky cab (a must do). Need to get a taxi up there, we tried to walk but the side road was cut off. The marina area is rather run down but there’s a lovely bakery / cafe called the Loaf there if you fancy a cheaper meal for a change. A petrol station with a small shop is nearby if you need anything. Staff. True Malaysian hospitality, outstanding service from all, the waiters, reception, the doormen, the pool staff, everyone is a credit to the hotel. Did not have to lift a finger the whole 6 days we were there and were treated like royalty. Thank you to all the staff. Food. Excellent food in the places we tried. the Planters restaurant, the Terrace and the Pool Bar. Again, staff there were fantastic. Enjoyed the band in the Verandah, what a great voice the singer had. It is a tad expensive here, more western prices than Malay prices but it was good food and good wine, so I can’t complain. My only qualm is the red flag on the beach. I couldn’t see the jelly fish net so presuming that has gone. As others have stated, the flag seems to be there permanently so we couldn’t swim in the sea. But people were swimming in the sea further up the beach. But the pool was so stunning that it was not a big deal, although a tip - Brits like saving their fave sunbeds so if you want a good spot, need to get you towels laid out early. Frustrating as many people didn’t turn up until midday. So overall, this is an incredible hotel, it really does have the ‘wow’ factor. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to all and although I like to travel to different places, i hope that someday, my travels will send me back to this hotel again.…
my wife and i loved everyday at the Dana, the overall experience was 5 Star, your bar restaurant and house staff are so lovely and so professional they made our stay so wonderful and so relaxing the food in all restaurants is incredible
Lovely hotel in a very quiet location ! You know as soon as you walk in to this hotel that you are going to enjoy a relaxing time. Checking in was a pleasure with a welcoming drink and the bonus of a neck massage. Taking the time to walk us around the hotel grounds was also a first for me and very nice. The room (Merchant King) was large, clean and comfortable. The only downside was that I could not figure out how to turn off or change the temp of the air conditioning (too lazy to ask). Another little issue was that the wi-fi kept dropping out. But I wont detract any of that from the room or the stay. The pool area was nice with loads of chairs, although the best ones were taken early. The private beach was cleaned every day and looked like a picture postcard with a view over a couple of islands. Service around the pool (as the rest of the hotel) was excellent. One negative is that the umbreallas could do with a refurb. Thye looked old and tatty, not in keeping with the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was fine if not wonderful but with plenty of choice. There are only 2 restaurants that you can eat in at night and although both good, both are pretty pricey for what you get. We took a "Grab" taxi to find alternative places to eat, just to get out from the hotel. "Grab" taxis are very cheap to take you anywhere. However, the location of the hotel meant that getting one to take you out at night could be frustrating. The Marina next door was absolutely dead apart from The Loaf cafe dring the day. It's a pity as this would have been a nice spot to take a stroll at nigh,t if it had some life about it. A bar or restaurant (or two) would have been a bonus. All in all, I wouldnt hesitate to come back here. A great place to chill ! …
Previously enjoyed this fabulous hotel. On arrival at reception Syakirah was a natural at welcoming us and expressing the hotel’s thanks for returning- she knew in advance of our arrival. 3 days being spoiled. Food 👌🏼 Service 👌🏼 overall 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Superb in every respect The staff throughout the hotel The villa - layout, service, cleanliness, location, setting, view all beyond expectation Every single detail bought through and catered for An absolute must if you’re visiting Langkawi
Was made to to feel welcome the instant we walked in. All staff were just amazing. The facilities are amazing including including the gym and spa. All restaurants provided excellent meals and drinks at reasonable prices
We stayed at the Danna for 5 nights over Chinese New Year - very comfortable room, delicious food and excellent service. Even during the high season the hotel did not appear to be over full. I cannot recommend the hotel more highly. Thank you.
Via recommendations from two friends I made a last minute decision to stay here. From my check in till my departure I cannot compliment the hotel enough. A relatively small property which accords much privacy and excellent personalised service is my summary. I was badly injured from a water skiing escapade a day before and the staff were very caring and obliging changing my ice pack 3x a day. The room is large and very modern, best rain shower I have ever had. If you get the Grand Viceroy it has a balcony and lovely views of the sea and pool. Breakfast is a wide spread of good food with free flow Prosecco throughout! The pool at the Danna is extremely large with lovely landscape, jacuzzi tubs and constant poolside bar service. It gets a lot of sun … so a sunbathers paradise. They also have a pool table and TV room as well as good live music at the lounge in the evenings. The hotel is in excellent shape and the GM Karan and his team take pride in constant maintenance and upgrades. Ms Jaswinder - Director of Rooms was simply amazing. Always willing to go the extra mile to help room guests. The Danna is very private and approx 20 mins from Cenang away from hustle and bustle. I would strongly recommend this hotel and easily rate it among the top 5 in Langkawi !…
We stayed at the Danna from 15/01/2023 - 16/01/2023. It was a disappointment and most regrettable stay. Check -in Prior to holiday in Langkawi, I did extensive research on a list of hotels in Langkawi and found the Danna received lots of good reviews thus I went ahead and booked for 3 nights. It proved that it was so wrong to stay at the Danna even started from we arrived to check in/ On 14/01/2023, when we arrived at the main entrance with few luggage, my husband dropped myself, my son and luggage. No one greeted us nor opened the door or help with the luggage, certainly not welcoming at all. I started wonder; it is the what The Danna called herself 'The Luxury Hotel'???? After few minutes, a young lady opened the door but not greetings and no helping with the luggage, I waited and see and finally a bellboy came to help the luggage. We had been led to sit down, no more came and ask or greet, I went to counter myself and talked to the female staff called Kelly - who I would say, for my whole life to stay in all five-star hotels, this Kelly is the worst hotel receptionist I have ever met. She asked me to wait at the sitting area, grab my IC and asked for my son and my husband's I.C. I said clearly to her, the I.C of my son and husband were with my husband and he was parking at the moment, once came in I would give I.C. She walked away and later sent a young, male staff to ask for the second time for my husband and my son's I.C?????? What did I just say to that Kelly about I.C.??? I was further agitated by the young male staff asking non-sense question - He wanted me to find my check out date and flight and he wanted me to let him know out planned Check-out Time (on my check-in day, we were tired after flight with luggage).????? When I questioned him why he needs my check out time? He did not answer me. We read Tripadvisor that when you arrived at the DANNA, they would give you a 3-minute complimentary neck and shoulder massage, but Nothing for three of us. - Disappointed!!!!! Later, the so unprofessional and rude male staff walked us around the hotel with the voice so small, only the ants could hear him. He walked with my husband, and my son and I left behind, it was a wasting of time to walk with him for the introduction and none of us could hear him properly. At this point, the three of us already exhausted by the Check- in Staff. Room We had been given Room Number 118, on the lowest floor by Kelly - despite of requested for higher floor prior check in. If you are unlucky and been given to the room, you would question yourself, was this supposed to be a luxury hotel. Room was extremely run down, you could see chips, cracks, wear and tear everywhere in the room with the Bathroom the worst - tiny ants on washing vanity; water pressure from the sink tap was so small; toilet seat has yellow stain around and was not cleaned properly, it was so dirty, and this is the world's most disgusting hotel bathroom I had ever used. Luxury hotel?? you must be Joking?? then came to nighttime, the music band on ground floor tried to rock and rolled the hotel. We had been given by KELLY - the world's Worst room on the lowest, 11: 15p.m, the loud music really beyond my limit and I could not sleep at all, from the front of the room, you could hear the band rocking music. (I had recorded the video for the band, you can ask me for a copy of the video). I went to reception and met a receptionist on duty - Arif - luckily, I finally met a helpful staff - who helped to swap our room and helped the luggage to another room on 4th floor immediately, for that - I complimented Arif for listening to guest and helped to solve the problem with the room, at last I felt I had been treated like a guest at the Danna. I would certainly share my awful experiences among our fellow friends in Australia. Please email me for information, it is definitely not a Luxury hotel and I do not know how they earned themself the name of ' Luxury hotel.'…
The staff and pool are exceptional and rooms very comfortable. Only things we could fault were limited choice of dining options/variety in menu for longer stays and corporate functions were a bit intrusive - 3 whilst we were there during our 8 night stay. Otherwise a lovely colonial style hotel and would highly recommend.
