I defer to oleshep's answer on the taxi. We had a rental vehicle, so we could come and go as we wanted, and as with oleshep's experience it worked out fine. Although, If you are going to stay at the Sheraton Fuschlsee - Salzburgh Hotel Jagdhof, note that in spite of Google maps etc., the road is winding and it took us between 25 to 35 minutes one way (depending on time of day (work traffic etc.)) to go from the hotel to the center of Salzburgh or back. A pretty trip but busy in the city and essentially 1 hour in transit for a round trip. In spite of this, I personally would still vote for a rental vehicle because you will also have more mobility for trips nearer the hotel as well as being able to go to and from Salzburgh whenever you want to. Enjoy yourself.
