#10 of 27 hotels in Ostuni
Travellers' Choice
Hotel Relais Sant'Eligio Situated along the "via della Procaccia", the Hotel Sant'Eligio has always assumed the function of dwelling, due to its strategic location that, just off the fortified walls of the "White City", dominates over the verdant plans of the magic Ostuni. Commissioned by queen Bona Sforza d'Aragona, the hotel was erected, in the half of the 16th century, with the intent to establish a post office that could link the maritime poles of Otranto and Naples, and so taking the name of "Camposada". In the variegated context of Ostuni, the "White City" of Apulia, our hotel represents the best formula, due to the excellence of the gastronomic offers and the accommodation facilities. Our four-stars-hotel towers just around the perimeter of the old town center, just 6 km away from the sea. Its sophisticated architectures includes 22 rooms that, respectively, face marvelous panoramic views, with the comfort of the most innovative technologies that, however, coexist with the original architectural profiles. Immerged into the elegant shapes of an internal courtyard, singular spaces where conversing, and a panoramic terrace, our guest is welcomed by a warm ambient that, surrounded by the fertile Apulian vegetation, blurs looking at the sea, in a rhythmical communication with the secular olive trees. Not by chance, in fact, an inscription tells the guests: QUISQUIS HUC VENIT HUC REDIET, meaning "Those who accommodate here, will come back"

The Relais Sant Eligio was fist class. We were greeted at reception by Lori with a big smile, and shown to our room. She was very informative about the hotel, its services and the surrounding area. Nothing was too much trouble for her. The room was of an average size and very clean. The view from our room window was over gardens and the distant sea. Everywhere had a clean crisp smell. The restaurant was on the ground floor with vaulted ceilings. The service and the food was excellent and also the wine, Anna and her husband did the cooking and Poalo (Anna's son) did the waiting. They treated us like old friends, it was a lovely experience. I was a little pasta-ed out one evening and said jokingly that I fancied egg and chips for my evening meal. Anna said it was no problem and out came 3 fried eggs and a bowl of chips, she even shaved fresh truffle over the eggs. Wonderful. After the meal Anna came out and serve us her home made Limoncello (complimentary). It was delicious and strong. Like rocket fuel, Wow. The breakfast was also very good, plenty of cold meat and cheese, boiled eggs, bread, cakes, yogurt and cereals, tea and coffee. Enough to set you up for the days traveling. Also a large free car park in front of the hotel. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who was visiting the area.

When we came in the Hotel there where (and off season) almost no bookings. Without asking we got the opportunity for an upgrade; a bigger room outsite the Hotel with view on sea and city. We stayed t nights and the service was top, staff very friendly and helping with tips for restautants and so on. Breakfast was superb, and we had a very pleasent stay in Ostuni. The centre is just a tuff climb away, and you are in the beautifull city of Ostuni.

Very nice hotel, very clean and comfortable rooms. Excellent buffet breakfast in an amazing vaulted room. It is a few minutes walk uphill to the town centre and the terrific restaurants you can find there. The one way system in the town can be confusing.

This was a stay of mixed results. Firstly the staff were very helpful the rooms emaculate and a very comfortable bed. However the hotel description is incorrect. It states that there is a pool (one of the reasons for chocing this hotel) , there is'nt one also that there is an airport shuttle again ther is'nt one and thirdly that there is a restaurant, there is but is only occasionally open. The last two could be very important to any traveller who may require all ther needs to be at the hotel. Could the hotel please update its site information.

Dear Geoffrun, we would like to thank you to have spent a bit of your time describing your stay. A special thanks for mentioning the kindness of the staff and the cleanliness and the comfort of our rooms. However, we would like to let you know that we don't advertise any swimming pool on the Internet because we don't have it... you can check on all our websites, you won't find anything about a pool. Regarding the airport shuttle, I confirm you we organize transfer on request, probably you didn't ask for more information about it. Maybe you get confused with other hotel where you stayed, because we don't advertise false information about our services. Best regards Loredana

The hotel is located just outside of the old city which can be reached after a somewhat strenuous 10 minute walk uphill. The grounds are beautiful and very tranquil (ample parking for those with a car). Rooms are small and somewhat spartan but after a day or two they take on a certain sense of local charm. Many of the rooms have views of the old town or the sea off in the distance. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Breakfast is in a lovely room on the lower level and offers the usual Italian types of items - read cakes and pastries. There is a large terrace with great views of the town where one can sit out and enjoy a glass of wine. Note: on Friday nights the bar across from the hotel has outdoor entertainment and the music is VERY loud. My room was at the back so it was not an issue but I am sure anyone staying at the front of the hotel would hear it. Overall it is a nice place to stay and is certainly recommended.

Dear Guest, Thank you so much for taking the time for describing your experience at Relais Sant'Eligio! It's great to know that you had a very pleasant stay! Thanks for highlighting our position, our private parking, our garden and our breathtaking panoramic terrace, the perfect place to relaxing and enjoying a good glass of wine. Our property was an old post station built in the second half of XVI century, commissioned by queen Bona Sforza d’Aragona, to welcoming travelers and caravans... The furniture and the design of our rooms want to appeal to the original Spanish style collocated in the present days, in fact they are very comfortable and charming. We are glad to read that you enjoyed our breakfast and the room where it's served. A special thanks for mentioning the kindness of the staff...we love our job and our aim is to make every guest feels like at home! About the outdoor entertainment, I let you know that it isn't property of the hotel, it isn't open every Friday, but just sometimes and only during the summer time (less than 10 times during all the summer) and they play music until maximum midnight. In conclusion, we appreciated so much your positive feedback and we really hope to see you again in the near future! Best regards Loredana
