If you are looking to stay in a lovely hotel in the beautiful Tuscany countryside and don’t mind paying for those little extra touches, DO NOT STAY HERE!! Booked this hotel originally for 3 nights but ended up leaving after the first night. First impressions were good due to beautiful location, however things went downhill after the first couple of hours. The so called deluxe room was reminiscent of a Hugh Hefner boudoir! No wardrobe space, no drawers, glitter, padded doors and gawdy colours everywhere and cleanliness left a lot to be desired. It had an altogether grubby feel about it. After spending a significant amount of money at the on site restaurant we returned to our ( deluxe ) room to enjoy a drink on our terrace and the hot tub. At least we would have enjoyed the hot tub if it had ever had filled up above our ankles! ( this was after an hour of the water being on ) To further enhance our experience we received a phone call from reception informing us that they had received a complaint from the family staying above us about excessive noise. ( this was at 9:45pm not the early hours of the morning!! ) Considering the hot tub was so loud it was impossible to have a normal conversation, we were not amused as we were absolutely not being excessively noisy. We contacted reception to ask to speak about the situation and a member of staff came to our room and actually told us that it was not our fault and it was their fault for placing a young family in a room above a noisy hot tub. We decided to leave the next day as this was the last straw for us. To add insult to injury we were made to pay for 2 nights in a sub standard room and the attitude of the man on reception the next morning was a disgrace. Rude, arrogant, unhelpful and completely lacking in manners. We asked what the complaints procedure was, to which we were told there wasn’t one. No manager available to talk to and are so far still waiting 4 days later for a phone call to discuss the complaint. ( something tells me I will be waiting a lot longer!) Tuscany is a beautiful place and thankfully we relocated to another hotel which enabled us to enjoy this beautiful area.

OK its easier to list the issues we had: 1. The hotel had some sort of party/disco on the night we stayed, the music was deafening and our room was some distance from the hotel. This horrendous noise continued until the early hours of the morning. 2. The jacuzzi could only be filled a couple of inches as it ran out of hot water! 3. The only 'windows' in the room are in the doors, therefore you had to open a door to let in fresh air - when I tried to open the door the handle fell off - I then found that this door had never been locked and in fact wouldn't lock! 4. There are NO drawers, wardrobes or hanging space in the room therefore you have to put all your items on the floor! 5. The emergency light in the room has a blinking red/green LED light that shines out at night so you cannot sleep - after the noise had gone! the only solution as to place a towel over! 6. The only toiletries are small sachets of shampoo and soap - this is supposed to be 4* 7. Electrics - Only half the lights in room worked, one of the bed LED's didn't work, the jacuzzi speakers didn't work, the TV is nearly on the ceiling. 8. The pillows on the bed are so thin they look like pillow cases! 9. Decor - Well I guess they are going for the 'shabby chic' look when it fact its the 'falling down and dirty look'. Cracks in several places, really dirty areas including the shelf on the headboard, the shower cubicle (of which the doors nearly come off the runners) and the walls have had some sort of weird distressed look but it's just plaster! This is supposed to be a 4* hotel, when I tried to communicate the issues to the hotel I was simply told 'thank you for your feedback' and presented the bill! At £170 for one night.....take a look at the pics and decide yourself if you wish to stay! Me - I will be blunt, avoid the place at all costs!

My family and I stayed here recently for 5 nights. We had a good stay and enjoyed the pools, the breakfast and the spaciousness of our 2 bedroom villa. The views from the villa are breathtaking and our apartment had multiple windows that offered differing great views of the Tuscan Hills. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed time at the pools each day. The onsite restaurant was convenient and we ate there 3-4 times for dinner. The service was just okay but the food was good. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend this place to anyone who is considering it.

A light Italian pasta lunch was delicious and a good selection. The restaurant was busy with a function so we were seated in a quite spot that was perfect after driving for several hours. The staff friendly and helpful and offered suggestions of things to do in the area.

We are traveling with student and adults. EF an educational tour group makes our hotel accommodations. This place is beautiful and really defines Tuscany. When we arrived each group had to walk to their villa. It was kind of hard rolling our suitcases up the rocky path and up the stairs but it was worth it. We had dinner prepared at the hotel restaurant. The pasta was great however we had to wait awhile for service. The rooms in the villa were rather close so when someone knock it sounded like they were knocking at your door. Overall, the rooms were quiet and clean. They did have two pools however they are only opened from 9 am to 7 pm. We were a little disappointed we all really wanted to go swimming. Staff in the breakfast area were wonderful and cheerful. Always, made us feel welcome. I would definitely come back.

Let me preface this by saying I'm an American traveling to Europe for the first time. To being with, the staff of Villa Saulina have been nothing but kind and helpful. I'm traveling with a tour group, so I would imagine it's not easy trying to set up for 40 people. The rooms are all clean, roomy by European standards, and have air conditioning! There are a number of outlets, but you will need an adapter and a converter for certain electronics. Our room has a small mini fridge and a large bureau. The bathroom is a nice size and has a large shower will hot water and good pressure. We ate breakfast and dinner here. Breakfast was European "Continental"- cereal, rolls, deli meat, cheese, etc. For our dinner, we had a set menu. We had the bolognese, which I'm not a fan of, salad, and pork. A word for Americans: Unless noted, none of the salad comes with dressing. The oil and vinegar on the table is your dressing. A man eating near us ordered a Calzone, and it looked amazing! The grounds are well manicured with rolling hills and vineyards. They make for a nice stroll after dinner. The road to the villas is small and windy. I would proceed to be caution. Also, the travel time to Florence is about 45 minutes with traffic, so it's a minor inconvenience. All in all, this is a great little villa. I highly recommend it, and if I find myself back on this side of the globe, I would love to stay here again!

Surrounded by beautiful vineyards, we felt so relaxed there. The place has a rustic charm that we loved. Two lovely pools to keep you cool on hot days. We stayed here for a week with the purpose of touring Tuscany. We weren't at all disappointed, it was perfect for what we wanted to do. The staff were friendly and helpful. Just 5km down the road (10 minutes by car) is the lovely old town of Lastra a Signa where we found some wonderful restaurants. The restaurant at the hotel was owned by someone else so you had to pay separately if you ate there which we did on several nights. Both the food and the staff were good but we felt they were short handed on some nights, as it took a while to get served. Lastra a Signa has a main line train station. We were able to park the car there for free and take a 15 minute train ride (costing just EUR 2.60) into the centre of Florence. Trains run every hour. From the hotel we toured the other great cities of Tuscany: Pisa, Siena and Lucca. If you go off the beaten track on the way to Siena you come across some stunning villages in the heart of the Chianti wine country. Head for Greve in Chianti, the surrounding countryside is well worth a visit. We also headed off into the mountains north of Lucca. With Italian drivers hogging the middle of the hairy mountain roads, the drive is not for the faint hearted but well worth the trip as we came across the white marble quarries where Leonardo Da Vinci worked in his younger years. We fell in love with Tuscany, it oozes character, history, charm, beauty, friendliness and above all, great wine.
