We had a very enjoyable visit, staff very friendly and attentive. The food was very good in particularly the breakfast. The owner Kaye ensured we were satisfied with the service and had a great sense of humour, which is always appreciated when you are in vacation

We called here for a light bite lunch and was pleasantly surprised. This was our first visit here and the staff were very welcoming and friendly and the food was excellent. We will definitely be visiting again.

Brought himself for his birthday and booked a superior room - room 6. The room was a beautifully done conversion of an old cowshed. It was incredibly comfortable with very attractive furnishings, and cosy underfloor heating. The en suite bathroom was very spacious with a wonderful walk in shower. Don't expect too much of the wifi though - the walls...

Stayed here for one night on a business trip. Bedroom was clean and bed comfy. Shower not great but ok. Nice selection of beers in the bar and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast with unlimited coffee. Highly recommend for a good value stay.

We visited on a quiet saturday lunctime so I would be intrigued to see how the staff managed a busy service! They were very pleasant but not very efficient. Food was fine usual pub fayre and reasonably priced. I would suggest that the waitress with long hair ties her hair back as we found a long hair in my daughter's...

Great atmosphere, great food. Quintessential British pub in Ticknall. The new chef adds daily specials which add a lot of variety to menu which is handy as I'm in there at least twice a week! To finish, you HAVE to order a floaty coffee. Natalie makes one of the best floaty coffees in the area!

Absolutely love this pub in Ticknall! I routinely order the pate with chutney as it's a favourite of mine, though tonight the prawn cocktail was absolutely delicious. Tried one of the "specials" today, tortellini with cheese and spinach. It was cooked perfectly with a beautiful flavour, with sides of chunky chips and salad. I also suggest the fish and chips...

Have visited this pub three times recently. First time with my daughter with her dog and we were allowed to take him in. They have a little side room in which we were allowed to take him. A bonus I thought for dog owners out for a walk and fancy a drink. My second visit was a Birthday lunch the...

I have stayed at the Staff of Life multiple times and every time I can say its a wonderful experience. The staff is incredibly friendly, the atmosphere is great and each of the rooms I have stayed in are impeccably kept and each one is quite unique. The food is very good and the English Breakfast is authentic. The only...
